Stone has, in fact, done the complete opposite. He has become a spokesman for JR, and is giving fans a bunch of BS. Meanwhile, the team is going through the motions. At this point, there is little reason to watch the team. There's nothing to see no matter what Stone says. This is as depressing as it can get.

Game Thread Palooza Day 1.....Cease vs Dunning
Highland replied to wegner's topic in 2023 Season in Review
I'm sick of watching Cease struggle with his location and then throw tantrums on the mound. Don't know what is happening with this guy, but the Sox don't have a rotation anymore. Can't they white flag the season and go home? -
Before you know it, it will be 2025, and it will be 20 years since the only WS win since 1917. But don't worry, Hahn has acquired a bunch of prospects that will be ready to play sometime after 2025. A couple of 100-loss seasons never hurt anyone.

Game Thread Palooza Day 1.....Cease vs Dunning
Highland replied to wegner's topic in 2023 Season in Review
This team just keeps trying to sink to new lows. But the rebuild worked out just fine. -
Not in the near future. Perhaps never.

Grade Rick Hahn's Trade Deadline Performance
Highland replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I really can't grade this since I don't know anything about these first hand. I do know we are in the beginning of a new rebuild, and it will be a while before this team is winning again. -
Watching the White Sox today makes one realize how long it will be before they are a good team.
-
Retool, rebuild, or tank job. Whatever it is, I'm not buying into it. This team has no credibility.

Giolito & Reynaldo to LAA. Update: Angels put on waivers
Highland replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I have no problem trading Gio at this point, but yes, the team is rebuilding again. I am not buying into this nonsense again. -
All I have to say is who hired Grifol? And who always treats the manager's job as if it is not important and constantly hires inexperienced people?
-
Yes, it is. I've been a fan for a long time and have bad memories of bad teams. But this is the worst situation. The absolute worst.

Why does this thread even exist?

Glad I missed all this. Didn't watch the game. In reality, there is no reason to watch this team. I know it hurts to lose a closer, but most relievers can protect a three-run lead in the ninth. The season can't end soon enough.

I don't know how miserable JR is, but if he is, Hahn should have been fired a long time ago. I don't know if anyone can predict what Reinsdorf will do with this mess. Either choice you proposed makes sense, but that doesn't mean he will do either one. Right now, the only thing you can accomplish by keeping your fingers crossed is to cut off circulation.

I don't have any hate for Eloy. Disappointment is my biggest feeling. He is not maturing. I know he likes to have fun, which is fine, but he should know when it is time to get serious. Any time now.

The White Sox actually played an all-around good game.

Yes, it is time for Stone to go. He demeaned himself when he played the role of Reinsdorf spokesman. He should go before he does more damage to himself.

This team is going to lose 90 plus games...
Highland replied to LittleHurtCG's topic in Pale Hose Talk
We've been waiting for them to really turn things around, and they haven't done it. 90 or more losses now seems very possible. So much for the rebuild. Nice effort in Atlanta, but this team really isn't very talented. Most disappointing season I have experienced as a fan. It's been a while since this club has been at such a low point. -
Gavin Sheets has the most runners advancing on him
Highland replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yes, Colas should be in right field for the remainder of the year. In 2024, Eloy and Sheets should not be on this team. -
White Sox still one of just seven teams to see attendance falls
Highland replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The team has done next to nothing since the division title of '08. Then they staked their reputation on a rebuild that has failed. A drop in attendance is far from surprising and actually I don't think it's been that bad. In addition, attendance has been an issue for a long time, and JR has only worsened things. There has been times when it looked like the franchise was turning a corner and on its way to developing a deeper fan base. Then they went back to losing or alienate fans in other ways. This FO gets real arrogant when they have success. They don't seem to understand, that in sports, you can win big one day and get your ass kicked the next. There is simply no tradition with the Sox. -
You're not being negative. They were horrible before the break. And several times during the past two seasons, I thought they had momentum and didn't. I'll just enjoy this for a day. Still 15 games under .500.

If a team is going to turn a season around, it first has to have confidence. These two wins can help. But let's see what they do during the rest of the road trip. What I really did like was the emotion after the 6-5 win.

Great ending. Team played well. Graveman is not a closer, but we have known that. Nice change from last night. Braves are tough, but we knew that, too.
