  1. The Sox have played well this past week, but they faced an undermanned Guardians team and an awful Royals club. But the journey back to .500 and beyond has to start somewhere, and this is it. The pitching looks totally different. The Sox were getting clobbered. Even when they stopped the losing streak, they gave up nine runs. On the optimistic side, Eloy is coming back, and we can only hope he isn't creamed by a mack truck.
  2. This makes sense. And if Eloy gets hurt colliding with the left field fence, so what. If not that, he'll; probably just run over by a bus anyway.
  3. I am somewhat disappointed in Vaughn, but he leads the team in RBIs. I am not giving up on him yet even though he needs to improve. He chased a real bad pitch with the bases loaded.
  4. Many don't believe the 55,000 figure, but I never saw old Comiskey like that. Regardless, that was a historic day. That one day represented 10% of the attendance for the entire 1970 season. Things were truly looking up for the entire franchise. Then, a little more than two years later, it looked like the Sox were headed for Seattle.
  5. I was at that bat day. Fans were sitting in the aisles. They still sold general admission tickets, and I had to settle for the top row of the right field upper deck. Over 2,000 fans got refunds because there was no room. That meant close to 60,000 showed up. It was quite noisy when Bill Melton homered in the first. There was a great picture in the Sun-Times the next day. A little girl sat in the concourse under the stands and a mountain of card board boxes that held the bats loomed behind her. It looked like the Sox were going to contend but injuries ruined the season, and they didn't even finish at .500.
  6. Amazing how much better the team looks like when the bullpen isn't getting lit up. After Burger hit that double, KC was finished. Giolito came up with some big pitches. It is also amazing the Sox lost three out of four to this team last week. Should of at least split by merely showing up.
  7. I don't know what is going on with Anderson, but I think someone should sit down and have a talk with this young man. Maybe he needs a change of scenery, but he has to know he will take whatever problems he has with him. Right now, he is only sabotaging himself.
  8. How many times this year have the White Sox had scoring opportunities like in the second and came up with nothing?
  9. Best game they played all year. Robert leads AL in homers. Nice turn of the double play by Anderson in the seventh. Shows what he can do.
  10. I remember when he first came up. Hitters were glaring at him because he was throwing high heaters at their heads. He wasn't head-hunting; the control wasn't there and there were stories of him in the minors of him being all over the place. Finally, the Sox were hyping him as the savior of the franchise before he threw one major league pitch. This has been a joke.
  11. Katz or no Katz, the Kopech situation was botched from the start. Maybe he can develop, but he always had control problems. Still needs to learn to be a pitcher, and in reality, he hasn't pitched all that much.
  12. Seven runs in three games-fortunate to win one. The offense still hasn't shown up.
  13. Great play by Gavin. Made a nice catch last night. too. In anything, this guy works at being a better player.
  14. It is true that taking the season series from the Astros doesn't mean much. For one thing, Houston has problems of their own. Secondly, things just look bleak. Hard to find hope for the 2023 season.
  15. One thing they have to do is bring in the man from third with less than two outs. They are so horrible at that.
  16. Should have scored more but Cease looked good. Nice HR by Robert. That man should not be under-achieving.
  17. Yes, they should have won 6 or 7-1. AJ said there is no ceiling on Luis. He's right.
  18. I just tune out goofballs who complain about attendance. It is an old refrain, and anyone who complains about it is a crybaby. Blaming the fans is an old practice. I'll remember that the next time Sheets drops a fly ball in right field.
  19. I totally agree. I've been a fan for a long time, so I have many memories of bad teams. But I have never seen the White Sox organization in this bad a shape. Only the Bears of the early 1970s are a Chicago franchise that rivals this. Significant change has to happen, but this front office isn't capable of it. If they fire Grifol, will they just hire another man with no experience? If they fired Hahn, would they just replace him with another Sox insider? Retread KW? How bad will things get?
  20. I am so sick of Stone. When he isn't saying stupid crap like this, he's bad-mouthing fans and kissing up to JR. Robert looks like he has given up. Yes, swing at something a foot outside that was never close to a strike and sit down. The rest of the team looks lifeless, too. To me, Stone just represents what is wrong with organization. The Nile is such a long river.
  21. You can put 2022 and 2023 together since they represent the grand efforts of this FO. The short and long-term futures look bleak.
  22. Outscored 21-6 in two losses to KC. So much for the clean slate.
  23. Robert baffles me the most. The talent is really there.
  24. Winning a bad division with a .500 record is no accomplishment. They can skip that.
