I know of no such rule. All I know is that I am not buying into this so-called rebuild. It is nothing but a scam on major league scale.
-
Contracting will not happen, but it should. This is not a major league team and won't be for a long time.
-
I agree with this. This is not a major league team. And they won't be in the foreseeable future. MLB should not allow this to continue.
-
Schriffen wasn't bad today, but he would have a better time not trying to tell us this was a good team. Should have done some research before takin the job. But, in the long run, the team's performance is much more important.
-
What is truly hilarious is that Getz is the one making this decision. Looking forward to another 100-loss season.
-
Something should have been done long, long ago. In 2011, when Ozzie was talking about fans urinating on statues, and the team was underperforming, a real housecleaning should have been done. Both KW and Ozzie should have been fired in mid-season. Instead, the FO fell asleep at the switch, and two years later the Sox barely avoided losing 100 games. Since 2008, the Sox have won a grand total of two post season games. And the power structure really hasn't changed.
-
Praise doesn't come easy when a team is going to lose well over 100 games. When it is two consecutive 100 loss seasons doesn't help either, especially when it has never happened in team history. Don't worry. Another losing streak is on the way.

Stone not sure he will be back in 25, season "wearing on him"
Highland replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That is too bad. He really needs to go. If I were him, I wouldn't want to do another season with Schriffen. -
Basically, since winning the division in 2008, this team hasn't done anything. The 2010s was the first decade since the 1970s when the team didn't go to the playoffs at least once. It looked like the team was on autopilot as the losing seasons kept adding up. "Buried" is a good way of putting it. Look for another 100-loss year in 2025. 20 years since the World Series. The decades just fly by when you're losing.
-
That's just it. No one knows. Even if the team picks up some good young players, no one can guess on their progress. I don't understand how this organization can expect fans to be optimistic with the way things are. I am not into constant rebuilding.
-
It has been that kind of year. 2025 will be no different.

Get rid of both and start all over. Stone is burned out and Schriffen is awful. -
Kopech w/LA 5 games, 5 IP, 8 Ks, no walks. ERA 0.00, 1-0.
Highland replied to hankchifan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Kopech would never keep his composure on the mound. His concentration just wasn't there. He'd let bad calls or mistakes get to him. I don't know if the Sox staff ever addressed this, but Maldonaldo did one time, and Kopech finished the inning okay. -
This team is in need of a winning streak, even a small one. All this losing has to get to them. 12 runs and 18 hits were amazing.

JR can keep his money, but, as a fan, I am not buying into this "rebuild." Why he is willing to associate his name with a laughingstock is beyond me. I am not waiting for this team to be a contender because I don't see it happening. So, why even waste emotion with this hopeless situation? The only thing I am certain of is that 2025, the 20th anniversary of the World Series championship, will be another 100-loss season. Looking forward to SoxFest.
-
I wonder about this front office. So many fans have lost faith already. What if this newest "rebuild" fails? Who will be left? The team has to spend money somewhere. The last 17 years have stunk.

Highland replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I won't miss him. He turned into a real Sox fan hater. The team hasn't done anything in over 15 years, and he lashes out at us. Good-bye. His heart wasn't in it for a time anyway. I wondered why he wanted the job. I wonder if Schriffen will have to call Beckham "the legend." -
In a way whether JR spends or not doesn't matter to me. I have no confidence in this so-called rebuild. Absolutely none.
-
There is a motto: "You have to spend money to make money." It doesn't mean you overspend or throw money away. It means you have to spend something. They will have to spend a little money in the offseason. If they don't, we fans will get to watch another minor league team.
-
I never expect this team to spend. I also don't expect this team to win much for the next few years. Another 100-loss season next year.
-
This is bad for baseball. The league shouldn't have a team that others can fatten themselves off of. The White Sox are just not a major league level club. I do get tired of the old solution of a "complete rebuild." What good does it do to trade for young talent when you can't develop it? Or when it is time to add some free agents, but you can't recognize major league talent? That is why someone from the outside needs to come in and evaluate this franchise. Doing the same thing only prolongs bad results. But this would mean the organization would actually have to admit to themselves that they don't know what they are doing. And they wouldn't want to do that. Being in denial is easier. Fire Grifol. So what? HIs replacement will only be mired in a bad system. Spare me the talk about a rebuild. This team has done nothing since winning the division in 2008. Unless there is a massive overhaul of this organization, the losing will continue.
-
The bullpen is awful but so is the offense. In the two losses, they scored three runs. But don't worry, the rebuild will only take a decade or so.
-
Robert is too talented a guy to play like this. Trade him in the off season. No haul? So what. just don't trade him to a contender. Send him to another losing franchise and see what he does there.

Gamethread: 8/5 - I Have A Bad Feeling About This One
Highland replied to hi8is's topic in 2024 Season in Review
Didn't watch the game but see the offense did its usual thing. For me, there is no reason to watch anymore. No one on this team is doing anything. Enough of the "rebuild." This front office can't build anything.
