Cease has no hitter going into 8th vs. WSH
Highland replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No who did the Sox get for Cease? -
Dipping into the free agent market won't solve everything, but the FO needs to make the team a little more competitive. The team is in a rebuild that isn't working. I don't see any positional players coming up from the minors. Sit on your hands again, and we will see another 100-loss season. Maybe two more.
-
Getz has said the rebuild will take some time. He didn't put in an exact figure, but he has said he will take a while. The hint here is don't expect big free agent signings. Regardless, we can't expect a contending team soon. I don't even expect the FO to admit something is wrong. In a normal corporate situation, JR would have been gone a long time ago.
-
This season was gone a long time ago, but something needs to be done. This has gone beyond absurd. The FO can't keep telling fans that the rebuild will take a long time. No position players coming up are showing anything. Grifol and Getz should be gone. Bring in a good baseball man to take over and turn the franchise around. Right now, the franchise has no credibility. 50 games under .500 is insane. My god, can't anyone talk to JR? This team is being turned into one big joke. Oh, Schriffen should go, too.

Chasing Records — 121 losses, modern MLB record
Highland replied to Paulie4Pres's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The problem I have with this organization is that it gives the impression it doesn't care. They are going to have their second straight 100-loss year, something that has never happened in franchise history. What kind of history is that? Then they sign Nick Senzel and keep Pedro even though it is obvious he only makes a bad situation worse. Then Getz goes around saying the rebuild is going a long time. How long? 2030 when the new stadium opens? I have been a fan for decades, and I have never seen it this bad. There is really no reason for a fan to go out to the ballpark. There is nothing to see and a good future is somewhere off in the darkness. -
When I saw it was The Onion, I assumed it was a joke. What isn't a joke is that the Sox can't go on this way. The FO has to do something to improve the team in the off season. I don't expect them to be turned into a contender, but something has to be done. Saying the rebuild is going to take a long time doesn't cut it. You can't have a third straight 100-loss season.

He may bring something of value, but he is not bringing that much. Right now he is an excellent fielder but average hitter. He looks nothing like he did when he first broke in. Then he had superstar written all over him. Offensively, he doesn't look imposing. Moncada, Robert, Jimenez. At one time, they looked like they could lead the Sox into the post season for years to come. Now, we wonder why they got injured so much and just what happened to all that potential.
-
Robert looks awful this year. The Sox will not get a "haul" for him. He simply has little trade value right now. Outside any of the starting pitchers, no one has any trade value. This rebuild is failing. Go ahead trade for "prospects." And see another 100-loss season next year.

It's pretty bad when the Royals get this confident. What a season.
-
What they should do is hire an interim manager. Then Getz would be free to conduct a real search for a replacement. But this should be Getz's decision not LaRussa's. For a change they should do something to earn credibility with the fans. Until then, there is little reason to have hope.
-
Because they didn't learn from Robert. They are just plain dumb. But don't worry, the rebuild will bring results when the new stadium opens.

Schriffen keeps talking about how many close games the White Sox have been in, but in this series have been outscored 13-2. Maybe the Sox can sign more players other teams don't want.
-
We shouldn't have to make that choice. A major league team should be able to hire a good play-by-play man. As for me, it isn't hate. I just don't want anyone insulting my intelligence.
-
I wish the Crosstown Series would end.
-
I could care less about Senzel. Another meaningless move for a team going nowhere.
-
Schriffen never should have been hired. Stoney should have left a long time ago.
-
Schrifffen is just bad, and I don't think he'll improve. I don't know why Stone is still doing this. He should be able to find something else to do. We shouldn't have to use the mute button to watch a game.

7/14 - Pittsburgh @ White Sox - 1:10 pm, Keller v. Shuster
Highland replied to WestEddy's topic in 2024 Season in Review
The main point about the White Sox is that the franchise is adrift. Money won't be spent on free agents, and, when it is, it is not spent wisely. So, they are relying on prospects. But many prospects don't work out, and you never know how long it will take for a young player to develop. So, when will the team truly get better? No one knows and that includes the FO. But we do have an announcer who knows nothing about baseball and growls a lot. -

Maybe not, but they would still be in last place. Eloy and Yoan just aren't very good. This team isn't very good to say the least. -

Didn't see this play, but Benintendi has proved to be a bad outfielder. Hits the occasional home run but that is about it. -
'Real talent' can make real money elsewhere and have a chance at winning while they are it. There is no path to .500 for 2025. Probably not 2026 either.
-
I don't care who they draft. He'll just run over a semi anyway.
-
Exactly. It is one thing to be a homer, it is another thing to insult our intelligence. This will be the worst Sox season ever, and there is no way to sugarcoat that. This guy is probably harmless, but he is also a symbol of how badly this team is run. Again, the Sox put an inexperienced person in a high-profile position. Schriffen needs to learn more about baseball and something about White Sox history. His "stand up southside" is dumb because he knows nothing about the south side. He needs to learn his job, and he can start by doing some research. Then describe the game as it happens and forget the hard sell.
