Since I started this thread I will rule that everyone counts except Minnie Minoso....Minnie is off limits for me ?
-
Mazara will be here the whole season and Robert should have to adjust some to the majors, so I will say Mazara.

If I remember correctly, didn't Steve Sax come here and then couldn't throw the ball from 2B to 1B?

I had brought up in another thread remembering Steve Carlton in a White Sox uniform and it got me thinking about other players who came to the Sox at the end of their careers. So I thought I would start a thread to get other fan's "favorites". Now I am not saying all these guys were great but they were certainly better earlier in their careers. The 3 guys that immediately came to mind for me (and that I actually witnessed playing live while I was at a game on the South Side) were: George Foster Rob Dibble John Kruk p.s. I do not bring up Manny Ramirez because I refuse to believe that whoever that guy was that the Dodgers sent over who struggled to get the ball out of the infield was THE Manny Ramirez. I look forward to hearing about other's "fond memories"

Honestly, I stay away from twitter for the most part...it gets toxic enough around here sometimes.

When I think of King Felix and the Sox, my mind wander to another great pitcher with the Sox past him prime...Steve Carlton and how awful and sad I remember that being. So then I looked back at his stats and saw that Carlton actually started 10 games for the Sox and had a 3.69 ERA and thought "hey I'll take a flyer on that" ?

Well one of these times that will work....right?....right?....uugghhh!!
-
Fixed it for you...now watch the movement around the league!!!!
-
C'mon now Jason. It is the offseason, must I try to figure out SoxMath here too?
-
I have interest in Gigi Paris...but that is as far as it will go. I hope the Sox have a better shot.
-
I have no objection to you getting a minor league deal...the $$ does need to be spent after all.
-
I was thinking that you would think Hahn has better things to do but is a move like this just done by some underling?..."Rick, we can get Detwiler back on a minor league deal. Should I do it?"... "Sure but don't give him an invite to training camp."
-
He's better than Despaigne...that's about all I've got to say.
-
Very reasonable choices IMHO. Both ground ball pitchers which is a good thing on the South Side.
-
We need to pick up more than 1 SP this off season. I have no problem if they would go sign Nova now as one of those...even if just to pitch against the Cubbies ?

After betting on himself 2 years in a row with a 1 year deal...good for him, but risky business -

Ah, so he bet on himself. Interesting to see how much it will work. Thanks for that info. But I must say, I do think that if you are a top of the line free agent, Boras is your guy. Below that top tier, I'm not sure he is the best fit IMHO. -

Boras..."Patience, Dallas. Look at the deal I got for Cole and Strasburg." Keuchel..."Yeah but look at the deal you got me last year" -

I was just thinking that it would be more AAV than MadBum got plus I cannot think that Keuchel wants to wait around until the end of the offseason again. I mean I am sure that he will sign before the season this year since he does not have a QO attached this year but I would not be surprised if he is getting a little antsy. -

3 years for 54 million for Dallas. Like has been said before, he is a ground ball pitcher and a veteran presence. Both of those things will work for the Sox and that contract will not cripple them with their $$ situation. -
If you compare him to what Mookie is going to get...George might be a bargain ?
-
The high ground ball rate does sound good on the South Side. I would like the Sox to sign him or Ryu at this point. I would guess it would take a 4 year deal at this point to sign either unless you go with a higher AAV on a shorter deal.

You currently have 11 laughing emojis so I think alot of people get that it was just a joke...and a very funny one at that. Keep up the good work. Like I said before, it is a long offseason and we need some laughs.

If you were to put 2 players for the Sox on there today, that would be a tough call for me. I would probably put Anderson on because I think he is a team leader but Moncada is probably the more marquis player. If you are putting a pitcher on, definitely Giolito. To be clear, I really do like Delmonico but I also think that post was funny and I would hope that Nicky would understand the humor. Also, I never go on twitter but if people are being cruel to Nicky there than that is just wrong.

Actually I think you can love the Sox and still think that Field of Dreams post was very clever. It is a long offseason and I love to laugh. That post helped with both of those things for me.
