Can we just have a seat at a very large table with Boras and all of his clients?..."Ok this is how much we have to spend fellas...who wants some?"..."By the way, have you met Southpaw?"
-
In your opinion...Is this a deep enough draft that the White Sox should be wary of giving up draft picks by signing someone with a QO? I ask because I really like the direction the Sox went last year drafting Thompson and Dahlquist and buying them out of their college commitments. That kind of strategy could set them up for long term success imho.

on my honeymoon, we ate at a place called Harry's Café de wheels where they sold meat pies topped with mashed potatoes and mashed peas. Once I saw it on the tour bus, my wife looked at me and said "ok we will come back here later"....I knew I had made the best choice of my life in her and maybe she hadn't "Chicken in a Barrel" sounds great. And as for the Sox, I do not think that last off season could have been more comical or frustrating for the fan base with the games they played. It is getting time to put up or shut up in free agency.
-
Yet it's still my favorite place to eat. Probably why my wife has teased me for years that anyplace on the side of the road where you order out of a window looks good to me.

Going back to the old question of what would you put on a billboard on the Dan Ryan....maybe a picture of Rick Hahn carrying around a folding chair?
-
Ah I see what the author did there now. Careful reading is a skill I guess I have not yet mastered. Thanks.

I totally agree with the sentiment of being patient with the younger players and seeing what we have in the minors instead of trading away those assets for any rentals at this point. But I also believe that they do need to use their financial flexibility to bring in some pitching, particularly starting pitching, through free agency this year.

I think it is funny that after his 7 bold predictions, he throws in the other stuff will happen section....the Angels sign Cole. Not exactly that bold of a prediction when you mention later in the same article that he will actually sign elsewhere.
-
Ok, let's speed this whole process up. Every free agent gets their day on a free agent draft. Teams take turns and have 30 minutes to put together an offer. Let's see Boras figure this one out.... And with the first negotiation on Nick Castellanos day...The Detroit Tigers offer 3 years at 45 million with a full no trade clause....Castellanos has turned down that offer...The Orioles are on the clock.

That's like one of those Kamka swap meets during the games..."You can have the guy on the top, Jason." "Always so generous, thanks Steve."
-
If he has Cuban blood does that mean he's really like 33?
-
I wouldn't mind the 4 year $58 million that MLB trade rumors guessed. I would prefer 3 years with an option but that it probably not realistic with the year he had.

Guy gets 1 Cy Young award and it goes to his head

Ryu or MadBum? Preference? What do we think?

I totally agree with all you said but I would not be upset with him as one of the starting pitchers signed by the Sox this off season. If he is the only one signed....not so much.
-
I am actually not complaining about him at all and would not be upset if the Sox went after him aggressively out of the gate. He might rather sign early in the season to avoid a long wait again. Although with no QO attached he should have more suitors. I want another starting pitcher as well, but have no problem with Keuchel being added.
-
I thought Odorizzi was a real possibility for the Sox but I do not see them going after him now with the QO attached. Possibly a moot point though, since I think he might accept the offer.
-
I wonder why Dallas Keuchel retained his services for this next go around in free agency? Boras certainly did not do him any favors last year. Like you indicated, Boras will make sure the cream of the crop (Cole, Stras, Rendon) get paid. Another agent might be a better option for the lesser free agents.

I wonder if Hawk was the GM, if they would consider signing Grandal to play RF?
-
I'm picturing the guy from the original Bad News Bears who would run over and catch everything in front of the LF and RF
-
This just in....The White Sox had a place reserved at the table but....
-
Very interesting indeed.
-
I totally agree with you. I am anxious to see them prove it to all of us with an exciting off season.
-
Remember it is a 26 man roster this year so the leash might be longer.
-
I am fine with giving up the draft picks for the talent upgrades. All I am saying is that they have never aggressively gone after anyone who had a QO attached to them. Until they do, I am skeptical that they will. They may all change since they no longer will lose a first round pick. I am not against losing the picks, I am just waiting to see if they are willing now to do that.
