  1. I was at Soxfest with my son when Kenny Williams walked by and I asked him who did we get back in the Chad Bradford trade and he said a very exciting catcher named Miguel Olivo who he said I was going to really like...and I did especially since he was swapped for sweaty Freddy. The other I remember was being at Wrigley for the crosstown and I was getting Paul Konerkos autograph in the first year he was with the Sox. I asked him if he was playing today and he said there is no DH in the National League. I said I knew that but I thought he might be at 1B. He looked at me like I had 3 heads since Frank played there...times change ?
  2. Let's trade a package of Abreu, Jay and Alonso. We will call it the "great in the clubhouse" combo. Any takers? ?
  3. Jon Jay batting .400 with an OPS of .900. Trade him quick. He's a great clubhouse presence you know!!
  4. I agree with you that the team has to make most of its improvement internally. If the young guys do not work out, free agency is going to give us nothing but hope for lightning in a bottle. I am just saying that I doubt the Sox are going to sign the premier free agents, so they better come in quickly at fair market for the tier 2 free agents to supplement a young core that needs to be getting better. And like I have said before, I just do not trust Hahn to trade the right "surplus" prospects to fill our holes.
  5. I'm only on board if he changes his name to Carlos
  6. The future of Carson Fulmer is to be an opener for the 2021 World Series Champion Chicago White Sox
  7. The Sox will not be signing the big free agents so we are going to have to get lucky and sign more Jermaines Dyes and less Jeff Keppingers.
  8. The 2 phrases that I do not want to hear from this organization any time soon are "salary relief" and "financial flexibility"
  9. Losing with Alonso and Jay in the lineup is hard to take. I'd rather they turn a page and move on from them both. I am going to give a bit of a meathead take here, but I'd rather see a lifelong Sox fan like Tilson in the lineup than Jay. And I think I'd rather see Cordell more because of his upside. Give Cordell extended at bats and see what we have and if he does not produce, move on.
  10. Jon Jay may be a useful player, but I do not remember a player with more apathy about in the recent history of the White Sox. Jon Jay has been reinstated...meh. Even someone like Despaigne got a better reaction when he was called up, although that reaction was generally "who?"
  11. No I think Fry is pointing to the hot girl in the front row
  12. Ugh, that is an ugly bottom of the lineup today...I will go with Eloy
  13. Giolito might need to throw a shutout with that bottom of the order today. I understand the hate for Alonso and Jay but don't forget Rondon, he has been awful this year as well.
  14. For all the nonsense of him being here because he's someone's brother in law and the fact that he has been awful, he does seem to be a likeable guy. I Know that is not a reason to keep him around and I do think he should be dfa sooner rather than later, there is still a part of me that does want him to work out for the Sox.
  15. I was looking up Jaime Navarro, who was so awful especially for the contract he signed and I had totally forgotten that the Sox actually traded him for Cal Aldred and Jose Valentin!! How did they get anything for him let alone 2 guys who actually played well for the Sox especially Jose?
  16. Thanks. I'm still hoping he can be a useful piece in the bullpen. I liked how he seemed to accept his "demotion" to the pen. I say give him the rest of the season with the Sox and let's see what we've got. Like you said he can be hard to square up. Throw strikes Carson.
  17. It looks like he threw strikes and that is a good first step for him imho
  18. Did not see the game at all and just looked at the box score...did Fullmer look good or is that line deceiving.
  19. In 10 years time or so, Odaris Despaigne will be the answer to a query on Soxtalk "hey remember that starting pitcher who never really warmed up before games and sucked?". That is the next time I'd like to hear about him please. Just release his sorry butt and bring up Santiago.
  20. Osich and Minaya with great efforts tonight. Marshall with first bad game but Rick really left him in too long.
  21. Yonder seems like a really nice guy but he is got to go...give his at bats to Palka
