  1. Can Steve Stone still pitch?
  2. Can the FO ressurrect Billy Martin? He would at least provide entertainment.
  3. My son and I are going to the Sox game this Saturday. There is no way I am paying $40.00 per ticket. I can go on stubhub and get $7.00 and move to where we want. That's how bad the Sox are. No one comes. Why should they?

I don't know if getting him would be a good move or not. With that said, the WS tried 2 other LH power bats coming from the National league to American league(Dunn and LaRoche). How did that work out?
  7. I know a lot of people may not like what I am posting but Theo Epstein came into the Cubs organization and told everyone he had a 5 year plan. He redeveloped their minor league system much like the Cardinals. How is that working out so far? I have been saying for years the WS should do the same. Why can't the WS develop good players? Maybe it's the minor league coaches. Maybe start there and replace them with better ones. It seems the front office is hell bent on obtaining aging veterans (Dunn, LaRoche, Griffey Jr., Rollins, etc.) to help the cause. How has that worked so far?
  8. QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 10:24 AM) Carl Crawford was just released by the Dodgers. Hahn's cell is likely being blown up by KW at this very minute. Can Crawford be our #5 starter? It's not like anyone else has done the job.
  9. For all those on the fence fan, here is a very good question. Before the season started, the front office made some really good moves to put the WS in a position to contend for the division. The season starts and the team is doing really well and is 6 games in 1st. Then they go into a tail spin and lose a bunch and continue to lose. So what happened? Let's not put all the blame on Ventura. After all, he is not the one hitting or fielding. But what did he or anyone else do to turn this team into a possible last place finish again?
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 07:20 AM) It seemed to help Daniel Hudson, Gio Gonzalez (motivation of being traded twice by the same organization) and Brandon McCarthy in the past...getting away from the White Sox and/or Cooper. There's seemingly not much middle ground with him, as we saw last year with Samardzija. You're either in his camp or you're on your own/exiled. Perhaps the prime examples, though...are Kip Wells and Josh Fogg from the Ritchie trade. They both really flourished in Pittsburgh and were a big part of helping to get that organization headed back in the right direction. Fogg had a much longer career than anyone would have predicted. In response to your statement, why is Cooper considered one of the best in baseball then?
  11. Over the weekend, a Sox reporter stated Erik Johnson will someday be a good pitcher but just not on the White Sox. I asked him why. I am still waiting for an answer. Anyone want to comment? Please feel free.
  12. I like what Easton said. Stats are good but sometimes the eye is better. Good and astute players pay attention to details and not just the stats. For instance, if you are in the field and a Right handed batter is swinging late, do you think he will pull? Most likely not. It's small details that help determine what kind of pitch and where the ball will most likely go.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 02:48 PM) Meaning I've never seen him while watching him look unprepared. Sorry, I misread what you wrote. And I agree with you. Especially since they put him in RF.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 02:33 PM) No problem with what Eaton said. He's the one playing and has been successful doing things his way. I've never watched him and thought he was unprepared for a certain pitcher/hitter. You might want to reword what you wrote. Otherwise, it does not make sense. How could you never watch him and think he is unprepared?
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 01:56 PM) Adam Eaton wants to be the next Sox manager!!!! From the Hawk School of Baseball “I go home,” says Eaton. “I sit on my dock. I fish. I drink beer. And I relax. I don’t look at anything media. I don’t look at anything that’s written. I don’t even know what slugging percentage is. I don’t follow that. I think it’s people from Harvard that want jobs and want to create jobs and stats. Honestly, I don’t put much emphasis in any of that. I let my eyes tell me what to do. "Even in the outfield, if a guy -- if the stats say he’s going to pull this ball but he’s fouling every ball off to my left, I’m not going to go with the stats, I’m going to go with my gut. For me that’s telltale of a good baseball player. You can look at all the stats and all the sabermetrics that you want but realistically it’s your heart and understanding the game and understanding body language with what you think is best.” http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2...-game/85233580/ I look forward to seeing what everyone has to say about this.
  16. It will very interesting to see what everyone has to say about the above post.
  17. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 01:10 PM) Definitely was never a good idea in the first place. Neither is having Abreu swing at 3-0. Games are won by having base runners on with others bringing them in. Not homers.
  18. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 12:56 PM) Just because it didn't work in that AB doesn't mean it wasn't a good idea to do it. You mean like Melky's Sac bunt?
  19. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 12:40 PM) Completely agree, perfect time to let him swing and try and get out of the funk. Sure worked. He popped it up into foul territory. Out. How's that confidence thing working out.
  20. Also, if I am not mistaken, during the KC debacle last weekend, didn't Abreu swing on a 3-0 count? If the man is not hitting, why the green light? It would take at least 3 more pitches to get him out.
  21. QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 08:44 AM) And you know this how? Because he doesn't go through the press and make this stuff public? It seems to me any decent manager learns to praise in public and reprimand in private. There are plenty of good reasons to fire Ventura, but keeping negativity out of the press shouldn't be one of them. By the way, I never stated a good manager keeps bad stuff out of the press. Of course he should. Dirty laundry behind closed doors. But come on, there are ways to address the media about these issues without calling any player out.
  22. Seriously? Have you seen how many base running mistakes have been made over the years? How many players got doubled off? If players can't figure out not to run on liners, they should not be in the majors. It's better this year. How come it took his last contract year? Coincidence? I don't think so.
  23. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 31, 2016 -> 01:24 PM) GMAFB. Baseball is an incredibly mental game and a manager's influence goes beyond their in-game decision-making. How about Robin provides some leadership and gets this team to stop pressing? Teams rarely go into multi-week funks after one tough loss, but he we are still losing day after day. If Robin can't right this ship, then it's time to see if Renteria can. Also, name one private-sector occupation where the complete failure of a team doesn't cost the manager his job? Why is it in baseball that many fail to hold the manager accountable and say "blame the players". When an entire team underperforms, the manager must be held responsible too. I'm just shocked that there are this many people willing to give Robin a free pass at this point. I simple cannot give Ventura a free pass. How many base running mistakes have there been over the years that Ventura refused to address? That's on him. But, that being said, the game absolutely falls on the players. A good manager can create a good culture. Look at the Royals. They never give up enen down 6 runs in the 9th. That attitude comes from the manager. If a manager will not hold the players accountable, then what good is having a manager in the first place. Any idiot can watch a game from the dugout.
  24. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 30, 2016 -> 09:05 PM) Using that rationale Ventura throws no one under the bus, supported his players and takes responsibilty. I think he is a leader I hope you are kidding when you said this.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2016 -> 11:17 AM) Out of curiosity can someone actually spell out the numbers for me? Are there better of odds of getting multiple hits, or an extra base hit starting when no one is out to get the two runs home (playing for the win on the road), or one base hit driving in two runs with runners on 2nd and 3rd and starting with one out? What do the actual statistics look like here? You are asking for numbers but much more goes into it. Who is hitting, how has he been hitting, who is on deck and in the hole, etc. It's more of this than a numbers game.
