I just find it interesting that the Phillies, White Sox and Nationals are almost sold out. The Nationals also signed the 3rd biggest FA this year so if it's a coincidence, it's an interesting one nonetheless.

Longshot, but Hahn has maintained that those were strictly baseball moves. What if getting them accomplished a couple things: 1. Veterans with good reps on the team. 2. Leverage to make Boras believe that they are all in on Machado. 3. An advantage in Machado negotiations in the event that Harper goes elsewhere. I know I am giving the front office too much credit, but it’s something to consider.

Does anyone think that the Sox prefer Harper? I remember a couple of months ago, I thought it was obvious that Harper was their main target. A bunch of Manny smoke has distracted us but what if it’s been Harper all along?

I know I have been pessimistic about our front office this offseason but I have a theory. What if the Sox have wanted Harper from the start but felt like the feeling wasn’t mutual so they ramped up their pursuit of Machado. But now they have been told by Boras that Harper is considering them so they put Machados offer on ice or have refused to up it? Is this a likely possibility?

I know Hahn said they weren’t getting both but I do recall him mentioning “OFFERS” on big free agents. I wonder if he meant multiple to Machado or if they have an offer for both and they will pull the other once one is accepted.

As far as Joc goes, I do not think he is coming at a significant enough cost that you let the trade slip away from you. If you think that with Manny, Joc is necessary, then pull the trigger.

It literally just dawned on me. The White Sox have leverage in the fact that they can wait. The Padres are another team that has that luxury, this is why they are the perfect team to involve if you are Lozano. I am now convinced that they are not a threat. Wait it out Hahn and get your man.

We keep talking about stop gaps and I get it but seriously, our rotation depth is depleted. Getting Gray and Wood over Banuelos and Nova would have been nice. Getting Puig over Jay would have been exciting and he wouldn't of blocked anyone of significance. I am not envious of their moves because it would have made us contenders. Its not like the money we save over this off season will roll over to next. They would have come off the books and we would have moved on but it would have been a better 2019 season (barring Harpchado of course).

If we get Manny this will no longer be true, but as of right now, I am having some severe envy of the Reds and their off season.
