  1. “ From the beginning of this offseason's pursuit of both Machado and Bryce Harper, the feeling here was the Sox were not going to be able to match the expected $300 million-plus offers both 26-year-old superstars are expected to bank. That feeling has not changed, even with the White Sox apparently narrowing their sights down to just Machado. The Padres are now reportedly in on the four-time all star, and they have plenty of money to make a deal. So do the Sox, but there were some rumblings Friday that they're not willing to go $30 million or more a season for Machado.”
  2. Claims that there were rumblings Today that the Sox will not go 30 mil or more a season. Idk how reliable he is. If this is true, I’m done.
  3. That is not what I am trying to articulate. I am just trying to find the harm in Dave replying to someone that the eyeballs are Sox related. Or a better example is @rabbit posting that palehose1 is legit, a guy on mlbtr with exact details of a joke trade. Some people thought he was joking, others took it literal. I asked him strait forward if it was a joke or not and then silence, why not clarify? Again, no one owes me or anyone anything but that little vague comment sent this board into a frenzy.
  4. Now we are all fighting about who has sources and who is attention seeking. No matter what, I think vagueness and no follow up is irresponsible. I get no one owes us any information but when you have posts or tweets that can be taken as literal or sarcastic, who does that help? When you have eyeballs and don't even specify if it's Sox related in the midst of a bunch of rumors, even though you have used eyeballs in the past for non sox related info, who does that help? We believed insiders over people like Rosenthal who said a Joc trade wasn't close and now board morale is low. I'd gladly eat my words if this goes down tonight or this weekend.
  5. You know Manny??! Why haven't you asked him if he is going to sign with us? Selfish
  6. Now looking back, eye balls from Dave , a " burner account" and a bunch of ominous posts from Rabbit sent us into a frenzy. I know the burner account is 99% false but everyone seems to trust Dave and Rabbit . Lets see what happens. There is still hope. But I for one am done with trusting vagueness and "scoops".
  7. We had a bunch of ominous insider talk yesterday on twitter and even here and now silence. Tired of vagueness.
  8. Based on Yonder, maybe the burner account was right and there is a snag.
  9. Going off of this from Fegan Hahn says they’ve made offers that would disprove the idea the White Sox won’t spend at the top of the market if they were accepted, and hopes to disprove that narrative over the next few weeks
  10. Hahn going on record and admitting that not getting Machado would be disappointing, tells me they are still in it. Also he mentioned "offers"does that confirm we have extended one to Bryce Harper? Or multiple to Manny?
  11. Am I the only one that think Hahn's comments aren't tempering expectations? I read it as the opposite. Maybe I am just delusional at this point.
  12. Good call. It's funny that the "mystery team" is unmasked on Soxfest day. Now all the questions are going to be about how they let another team in.
  13. Now is when we will find out if the Sox push to sign Machado was real. They had to go in knowing what it would cost. Put up or shut up. I'm grateful for a new team, this will end soon.
  14. I see your point here as well, but I still think there is a great benefit in holding it until Soxfest.
  15. All I know is this: If the Sox pull this off, it will inspire fans to believe again. They will be able to say that a new era of White Sox baseball is here and they did it on their own terms. This fan base has taken so many Ls. The idea, as far fetched as it is, gives me chills.
  16. This is also a non football weekend. This would dominate sports news.
  17. Yeah because hearing the team has a new TV deal is going to cause people to spend and come back next year.
  18. Exactly! If you are familiar with WWE, I remember the Rock showed up at an house show unannounced. When I saw this I immediately brought Chicago tickets. I knew it was a long shot but in my head i said "what if!?"
  19. I know it's a long shot but for those arguing against the logic of announcing it at Soxfest, why wouldn't you maximize the publicity of the biggest contract in the history of your franchise? You will have your most die hard fans there. Media will be in attendance and it will send everyone into a frenzy. Everyone will talk about how the White Sox shocked the world. This will make SoxFest a can't miss event for years to come. The shock will cause fans at the fest to impulsively buy tickets and merch. SoxFest is the best place to announce it.
  20. It’s really odd that he spoke about Machado so openly. Almost as if he had nothing to lose. Especially since I believe he did it on multiple instances. You would think someone would have told him to shut up.
