Agreed. They tarnished the game.
I then flip that around and want to see the Baines' and Buehrles in the hall. They polished the game and made it bright and shiney. I picture a grandfather and grandson visiting the hall and taking about the players. I don't want to be explaining about gambling and drug usage, I'd rather the kids hear stories about Mark. Baseball is a better sport because Mark played. His character should count. It's not the Hall of Great Stats. Fame should be more than stats.

Its a hall of fame. Not a hall of role models.

Question with Q is whether 2019 is him or if he can get back to even where he was in 2017&2018. A 2017/2018 Q is a solid #4 pitcher. A 2019 Q is a long reliever/spot starter

Would y’all prefer Darvish, Heyward, Colome with no financial room for moves the next 2 years or Lynn, Pederson, Hendriks and room to make a move mid season/next offseason
Do we really have financial room with the second option and JR not wanting to spend big?
-
This all comes down to whether or not they can extend lynn. If they can extend him for another two years (preferably team or vesting option for the second year), then it is ok. If they cant, then its a meh trade at best.
i like lynn a lot. But at his age, the question is does he age like verlander? Or jon lester?

Has anybody even posted highlights yet? His fastball is his bread and butter, clearly. Still throwing 96 mph. Hopefully he can keep it that high at 34 years old. He's also obese.
Hes got the ideal male athlete physique. A real athlete needs that extra poundage to give them a nice reserve of energy to tap into.

The Astros had his number. 16 of his 31 ER last season came against Houston in just 2 starts. 5 of his 13 HRs allowed also came against Houston. I wouldn't be too worried about his ability to pitch for the next year.
Unless we play houston in the playoffs

FWIW Portillos saying Musgrove is still an option.

Actually would love musgrove as a back end of the rotation piece.

The amount of over-valuing of unproven, best case ceiling #3 Dane Dunning in this thread is astounding but not suprising.
Rookie season and the guy was good. Watch him put up 20-25 WAR over the next 6 years

So would a draft pick be attached to lynn if he leaves in free agency? If so, then it isnt as bad as im thinking

Well...this trade sucks

You’re missing my point. I don’t care about Harper. I don’t see replacing Keuchel with Wheeler, which is what you’re doing, as an improvement.
Its beyond stupid. Giving up any core pieces or top prospects for wheeler is incredibly dumb when they could just sign bauer

Giolito, Keuchel, Cease, Dunning, Lopez, Lambert, Kopech, and Crochet are a good nucleus for Katz to work with. A Quintana type might be nice but not essential if the pen is the type pen KC used a few years back. All of this mix and match starter talk is so that we don't spend it all on one guy. Quality pens can piece together very solid staff performances. Also, we do need to see what we have in this group of high-end prospects. I do want to see what Katz can do with the young guys.
He can work on them while they intern in the bullpen

Robert can cover 75% of the outfield anyway, so im on board with schwarber in right. His arm has drastically improved. Its better than leurys who played a lot of right the last couple years.
offense is more important than defense anyway- 1

Schwarber is much better defensively than eloy...which is saying something about how bad eloy is defensively

Then question: what do the Sox do if they nontender Nomar, then Springer and Joc both sign elsewhere? Who else is out there?

Im offering rutherford and a lower tier prospect tomorrow if this is real. Take his salary and then work on a short term extension.

Rays dont have enough fans to demand he get traded

Thank you for saying this. The Cancel Culture, which is what this is here, never ever thinks about the consequences in the big picture.
Driving drunk is a problem and LaRussa needs help. But really, he's a 76 old man and unfortunately people like this don't change this late in the game of life. I would hope Reinsdorf would do the morally correct thing here and terminate his contract. But then again, he's another stubborn old man stuck in his ways.
The petty bullshit that is this thread never would have started if the sox hired cheaters cora or hinch and they blew a 0.09. This is petty bullshit from posters who were already against TLR.
