  1. What about Abreu straight up for Tucker?
  2. The coverage of this has become much more entertaining since speeding up the picks.
  3. dammit. i love Hankins. Let's trade a bunch of our AAAA guys for him
  4. Can someone please explain the logic behind the competitive balance rounds to me?
  5. I was biting my nails at the bar praying they’d take him and not singer. I’m so fucking ecstatic right now
  6. Hell maybe we end up with both madrigal and singer!
  7. This year only - Mize, Madrigal, Kelenic, Stewart, Hankins, Denaburg
  8. Really hoping Beer is available at 46 and we take him. I don't care if he can only play 1st/DH, his bat is too good to pass over.
  9. It won't be any higher unless he either somehow learns to hit lefties or he's platooned.
  10. I think he needs to become a little more aggressive earlier in the counts in order not to fall behind so much. The book on Yoan right now is to challenge him early in the count because he's too patient of a hitter.
  11. Roughly 40% of MLB pitchers are lefties. 60% of 162 is 97
  12. Taking a closer look at Collins numbers, he looks to me to be a future platoon guy, not so much a guy that can start 120-130 games, but more like 90-100 against RHP. Collins Career Minor League Stats: vs. RHP: 182 g, 25 hr, .254/.415/.488, 21.6% BB%, 26.5% K%, .326 BABIP vs. LHP: 110 g, 7 hr, .194/.339/.340, 16.7% BB%, 29.7% K%, .261 BABIP This is a pretty decent sample size at this point, and while he's shown he can absolutely mash RHP, he hasn't shown any ability at all to hit lefties. This makes me think the logical solution for the future is to platoon him with Zavala, who has better splits against lefties than righties. Zavala Career Minor League Stats: vs. RHP: 268 g, 31 hr, .270/.346/.468, 9.0% BB%, 25.0% K%, .336 BABIP vs. LHP: 142 g, 11 hr, .284/.368/.498, 10.8% BB%, 24.8% K%, .354 BABIP While his splits are nowhere near as drastic as Collins, he has shown a propensity to hit lefties at a better clip than righties (about an .860 OPS vs. .810 OPS). Now if the Sox decide to platoon these two, we're looking at all star contribution offensively from the catcher position with the ability of both of them to DH now and then on days they don't catch.
  13. Pedroia's only had one year with over 20 hrs, when he had 21. He's more of a 10-15 hr guy.
  14. He's an insufferable douche
  15. Passing on Madrigal would be stupid. And I don't want them touching Bohm with a 10ft pole with his defensive issues. I much prefer India to Bohm and it's not close given India's ability to potentially fit in at a few positions. I like Singer if Mize isn't available and would not be at all upset if we went that route. He's a psycho - which I love in a pitcher, so that's just a plus there. And he's got some of the filthiest stuff I've seen, even if he isn't lighting up the radar guns. If they go with a high school arm, I'd lean towards Stewart. Also love Hankins, who reminds me of Singer with more velo
  16. Considering Zavala crushes LHP at a much better clip than righties, these two could form a very very good platoon here in a year or two.
  17. I don't think anyone truly knows what actually happened except Luke and his niece https://deadspin.com/mlb-prospect-luke-heimlich-denies-molesting-his-niece-1825831942
  18. I have a vivid memory of Bobby Cox doing the same thing to Andruw Jones very early in his career when he didn't run hard to catch a short fly ball in I believe 1998. Actually pulled him in the middle of the inning, didn't even wait for the inning to end. Jones got the message immediately.
  19. Pretty nice line from Yoan today. I'll be good if he averages this for the rest of the year
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 16, 2018 -> 09:10 PM) Easily Mize over Singer Singer has the psycho factor though that you can't measure https://twitter.com/KAGS_Colin/status/87437..._site=forthewin
  21. Has Mize jumped above Singer in terms of the Sox draft board? Given Mize's health issues, I'd much prefer Singer.
  22. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 15, 2018 -> 10:45 PM) Would have to go back in the wayback machine to see how many around here believed Albies could be as good as he has been. The way I remember it is Acuna was the one everyone liked and most were down on Albies because of his lack of power. Both Acuna and Albies were constantly mentioned when talking about trading Quintana maybe even before that . At the time of the Sale trade Acuna wasn't ranked very highly (bottom of the top 100). It wasn't until last year that he just exploded up the rankings. I recall it was Dansby that everyone wanted from the Braves for Sale
  23. QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Apr 16, 2018 -> 01:25 AM) 32 teams mean you have to have the NFL division setup of 8 4 team divisions. I'm sure the players will want this badly but you are correct things would get watered down. Or you could do 4 8 team divisions, or just two 16 team leagues with no divisions.
