I don't like this at all. Rich Hill is the typical shi**y starter we never hit......

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 26, 2016 -> 08:54 AM) Will Robin Ventura be the manager of the White Sox on September 1st? Yes How many wins will the Sox have when they return from Detroit on June 5th? 58 games scheduled through that date (33 on the road). 32 More games started- Navarro or Avila? Avila Carson Fulmer debut date and role? June 2nd, starting. To expand, sale, rodon and Q will be killing it. We will desperately need another arm in rotation. Tim Anderson debut date? September 1st White Sox All-Stars? Sale, Rodon, Frazier. Mat Latos starts? 22 Number of team home runs (136 last year) 162 Runs Scored/Runs Against (622/701 last year) 668/685 Dealers choice--any other random 2016 Sox predictions other than final record Sox make big trade at deadline.

Official 2016 Soxtalk White Sox win total prediction thread

86-87 wins, like a lot of others have said. I think we get heartbroken and just miss the playoffs. This team is better all around, and will be in it all year though at least. -
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 06:07 PM) True lol. If the Sox get Desmond, which outfielder would they go after in a trade? It sounds like the interest in Ethier was overstated and I don't know who else would be available on the trade market. Just blow up the farm system and trade Anderson and prospects for Puig
-
Now we just need to trade for Puig and bring AJ back. Would be the most entertaining team in baseball.

While no one shows up to the games now, you still have to keep a fan base some what interested. Maybe I am totally wrong, but if we went into complete re-build mode..... I think you would hear talks of the team being moved. On a Tuesday night you might have a 8-10k show up to a game. I think it would be really really bad if we went the re-build route.... They would have to let people into the game for free IMO. Just my two cents.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Feb 2, 2016 -> 10:59 AM) I'm with you but I think Rick is torn by the same things fans are: what do you do with a couple of studs like Sale and Abreu who are in the prime of their career? Do you build around them? Do you jettison them for prospects and do a true re-build? Or do you try to add a few pieces and hope you have one of those years? The hope I'm hanging on to is the universals consensus that came out of the clubhouse last season, ie, this team wanted another chance to prove itself. Not saying they deserved that at all but I do like that mentality. LaRoche and others know they seriously underachieved. I don't think they have the talent on paper to compete with a really solid division but maybe a chip on the shoulder can make some things happen. The sox can't do a true rebuild. 5 people would show up at games for however long the rebuild took. I love the sox but were not the cubs, and can't afford to do a true rebuild. I am very frustrated with the FO because we are a piece or two away from being a contender. None of these guys left really appeal to me, and have bust written all over them IMO.

QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 10:09 PM) I don't expect Hahn to say anything and I wasn't there. But I'd prefer to not sit through and see a Q&A session where the GM and VP are Rubio-ing some answers. It would be nice to have all of the questions answered, but I acknowledge that they probably don't have everything figured out going into the season. At least they look loads better on paper than they did last year, although it would look even better if they could take a chance on Lincecum and Jackson. But I think I'm fine with Erik Johnson and Avi Garcia going into this year as long as they get a bat for the bench not named Bonifacio or Beckham. Hahn did a great job of answering the questions IMO. Also, lets keep politics out of this buddy.... No place for that here.

I think as it stands with the current roster (JUST MY OPINION) this is a low 80s win team, so right around 500 (81-84 wins). At first I was against Fowler big time, but at this point I kind of want them to sign him. Him and another minor piece could add a couple wins, and put them closer to a WC possibility. I just can't see another year of Sale, Abreu and co wasted.

I don't remember what thread this was in (maybe the Cespedes thread), but this was mentioned before (as a joke). They should make a huge move (at this point would be a trade), and chopper the newest player into sox fest and announce him. This will make up for all of the pain and suffering they caused us over the last couple months.....

QUOTE (Sockin @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 03:51 PM) I honestly don't think they know how much the fans dislike/know how bad Garcia is. The fact that they're propping him up via beat writers and having him call people to get tickets is almost insulting. Yeah I don't think they have any idea to be honest.

I don't understand this at all. This is why the Rockies are the Rockies.... I actually like Dickerson and would have loved to see him on the sox.

Dexter Fowler as a secondary option

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 03:23 PM) Which is exactly the point. When you give away these guys, you create future holes for the major league team. This is what Kenny did for 10 years. Agree 100%. Have we really given up that many great prospects? Other than Montas, I think the other guys were completely selling high (especially TT). Speaking in terms of this year. While I am a proponent of the trade route, I am okay with Fowler or Desmond. I think both of them could slot into the 2 (Fowler maybe lead off) or 6 hole pretty nicely. At this point though I just want another addition before the season, be it trade or signing. -
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 11:53 AM) His injury is problematic. But in general, this is the kind of player that the Sox should target with their package of 3/4 ML ready prospects rather than 1 or 2 years of these veterans Williams is so attached to. I don't know where they come up with this artificial 3 year (now 2) year window in the first place. It certainly doesn't match Sale or Q's contract. Offer E Johnson for him I have been saying this now for a week or two.... I think we will have to give up a little more than just EJ, but this is what I think should be done. I would target Dickerson and then sign Latos or Fister. Just my 2 cents.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 25, 2016 -> 05:08 PM) Welcome to the board and thanks for posting the link. I've been kind of perplexed by the Parra signing as well. Is it possible the Rockies use Dickerson in a platoon with Reynolds at 1B? Playing 1B could alleviate the plantar fasciitis symptoms Dickerson goes through. Maybe this is what the Rockies have in mind? Heck if I know, lol. While I think that is a possibility, I think a trade would be more likely. The team is in rebuild, they have to be looking to trade one of these guys for prospects/pitching. While CarGo may have recognition with the fans, I think if they get what they are looking for he is gone. Although I might like Blackmon or Dickerson more....... Also, regarding Markakis..... No thank you.

Hi everyone, first time poster here. I have been following the board for a long time, never posted though. I think the FO is going to look to make another trade before they sign one of the remaining free agents. I live out in Colorado and the consensus out here is that the Rockies are definitely going to try and move one of their outfielders... While this is nothing new, I think this is the best avenue for our sox. I personally don't want anything to do with any of the remaining free agents (for so many reasons). If we could somehow can swing a deal without giving up Anderson or Fulmer, go for it. I know all of this has been mentioned before, but I think one of the Rockies OFers would be a good fit. I know I am going to get killed with the "split stats" debate..... http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/colorad...e-rumors-012516
