  1. The contract commitments to Shields and Latos are also apples and oranges. No way that the Sox release the guy that they just invested $30M on.
  2. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 09:50 PM) Rotating infield idea then. You seem to think that Saladino is an offensive upgrade over Shuck, and he's really not.
  3. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 09:43 PM) You would rather see Coats and Shuck get every day at bats? Unfortunately those are the only other 2 options currently. We'd all rather they make a trade for someone else but it's obviously not happening when we want it to. Shuck should be playing RF until Ajax returns (or until we trade for a better option) and Avi should be DHing. Yeah, I know that it's frustrating seeing Shuck and Coats in the lineup so often, but that's what happens when injuries occur and your GM has traded away your only ML-ready young outfielder. DHing Saladino is the last thing that the Sox should be doing.
  4. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 09:38 PM) Plus Saladino vis your only infield sub There is no freaking way that Saladino should DH. Even if he weren't our only infield defensive sub, his .649 OPS should immediately disqualify him.
  5. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 09:05 PM) Was just about to ask if he could possibly play center. Start having him shag fly balls during batting practice! The Sox would be better off trading for a CF, rather than a DH/1B/RF-type. Melky can DH. Even when Ajax returns, he's unlikley to contribute much offensively.
  6. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 09:01 PM) The ISPs throttle streaming services (sometimes) although they deny it. Comcast does for Netflix. But even years ago, before they came to that deal and when I had 50 MBPs internet, I never had pixelation or dropped signals while watching Netflix. The worst I'd have to endure would be a temporary loss of HD.
  7. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 08:58 PM) The last couple of years it was awful on the Xbox 360 and I almost didn't get it this year. I then got the xbox one and decided to see if it was anybetter on it. So far it has been great on the Xbox one. Only probably 2-3 games has it really been messed up the whole game. My Internet is good but my brother and I try and steam the games and play video games at the same time so that probably most of my problem. If you have good internet bandwidth, you should have no problems streaming while playing video games. My daughter watches Netflix while I watch games on my iPad and there's often no problem. The inconsistency is an MLB.TV problem.
  8. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 08:50 PM) Mine unfortunately started working in the second inning. If f*#$ing hate MLB.TV and I don't know why I bother paying for it. I have 150 MBPs internet and have flawless streaming from Netflix and Amazon Instant Video on my 40" TV. But I have semi-constant pixelation and frequent dropped feed from MLB.TV on my iPad Mini. It's an absolute joke.
  9. At least Robertson, Jones, and Albers won't have to pitch again this evening.
  10. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 08:45 PM) Turning this s*** show off. I usually never turn a game off but this almost seems worse than last night. Since MLB.TV decided to take a dump this evening, I can't watch it even if I wanted to.
  11. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 07:42 PM) There was 1 out. Noted above. Still a dumb move. Sac fly gets the runner in.
  12. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 07:37 PM) I said it was stupid, but EVERYONE knows how f***ing bad the sox are at getting runs home with a man on 3rd and less than 2 outs so I can't blame Eaton for trying something different. With nobody out? No freaking way that bunting is a smart move there. EDIT: Sorry, there was one out. Still a dumb move with one your better contact hitters at the plate.
  13. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 07:28 PM) Perhaps, but why does Eaton have the ability to make that call? You're really going to try a surprise bunt and not have Anderson running on contact? That falls on the coaching staff. Eaton has a history of doing what he wants. I recall him ignoring Rollins and throwing a guy out at 3rd earlier this season.
  14. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 07:29 PM) Uh...how about ya don't f***ing bunt at all there. Yep, much easier to get the runner across on the sac fly. Incredibly dumb decision there.
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 10:50 AM) It feels like Ventura is "showing fire" and getting ejected so much recently because of past criticism that he's too passive as a manager. He's trying to save his job by changing himself. Reminds me of Jerry Manuel halfway through his last season with the Sox.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 11:04 AM) I would bet he isn't even starting at the end of July 31st. That would be nice, but I'm not optimistic about Hahn's ability to trade for an impact bat. They don't have much left to trade. I really wish that Hahn would've been able to get Jon Jay as part of the Shields deal. He would've been a legit #2 hitter and he would allow Ajax to be a fourth outfielder when he returns from surgery/rehab.
  17. Avi is currently sporting a bWAR of 0.3. That's decent enough for a team that doesn't currently have a better option at DH, but I don't see him being on the 25-man squad next season.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 08:49 PM) Easy. I compare him to Humber. Same story. Inexplicably he's gone from decent to toast. He's 'one' of the reasons our season went to s***. Yeah, good one greg. Albers was inevitably going to suck because of Humber.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 08:44 PM) Somebody said we DFA'ed Albers and I believed them. I was hoping he was off the roster forever. Was I dreaming that or was it just a joke by somebody on Soxtalk? Albers was almost unhittable last season and pitched well for the first five weeks or so before heavy use began to wear on him. Why you'd want somebody like that off the team is beyond me.
  20. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 08:43 PM) Didn't say it wasn't, but he would have been safe. True, but McEwing couldn't have predicted a terrible throw. It sucks, but he made the right decision by not sending Anderson.
  21. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 08:37 PM) Tim gona score no? Damn he was flying He would've scored because of the bad throw, but would've been nailed on a better throw. McEwing made the right call.
  22. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 08:36 PM) You have to use the pitchers you have and can't burn a few guys out with overuse. what they need to do is their job Exactly
  23. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 08:26 PM) So what? Call someone up from AAA, or someone with decent numbers. There were better options. Given how thin the Sox farm system is, I'm not confident that there were better options.
  24. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 08:17 PM) Truly weird Danish got called up in the first place. Then three days in a row, and in a one run game. Bad. He was called up because Petricka and Webb are done for the season. As much as I disagree with bringing in Danish in a close game, Shields was only able to throw four innings and that limits RV's options. I would've brought Jennings in, but there aren't enough arms in the bullpen to cover five innings of work per night on a semi-regular basis. Hahn really needs to bring in a dedicated long-reliever for situations like this.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 08:03 PM) Danish shouldn't be used in close game True dat
