  1. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 02:31 PM) Yeah this makes me a bit nervous. Yeah, I would've gone with Albers.
  2. I wouldn't be warming up Jones right now. Not sure what Robin is thinking.
  3. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 02:27 PM) MLBTV skipped during that AB. Did Saladino hit the ball hard right at someone? Grounded into a double play
  4. Nice to see the Sox bunting and moving players over again. It's been a foreign concept to this team for too many years.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 02:13 PM) 102 pitches through 7 for Sale. The 8th inning will be an interesting call for Ventura. If Sale can get at least one guy out in 10 pitches, I'd go to Robertson and see if he can get four or five outs. Jones and Albers could use some rest and, with Danks pitching tomorrow, I'd be willing to bet that Robertson won't have a save opportunity.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) Should have got Bruce as soon as LaRoche quit I'd rather have Markakis than Bruce. And I'm not all that hot on Markakis either.
  7. If Sale can get through this inning and at least some of the eighth, the bullpen will thank him.
  8. Wow, the Toddfather is a lot more athletic than he appears.
  9. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 01:58 PM) Saladino needs to play until he proves he's not good. I kinda think he might be good. I don't recall Saladino hitting all that well in the minors, so my guess is that he'll be stuck in the utility role. That said, he's very good in that role and would be valuable to any team.
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 01:53 PM) I would have kept Soto and signed Navarro. Agreed. I like Avila's skill set, but I don't trust his health.
  11. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 01:52 PM) I think we should have kept Soto I agree. Soto's bat was decent in limited opportunities last year.
  12. QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 01:48 PM) Do people ( not necessarily you) still think Flowers had to go and anybody would better better than him? I don't necessarily think that, but I didn't see the point in giving him a big raise either. He was good at pitch framing and that was about it.
  13. Frazier has been bringing back fond memories of Crede and Ventura at 3B.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 01:14 PM) Eh. He is off to an unsustainable start, and hasn't been very good for a number of years now. He hasn't had a positive defensive number for almost a decade. He'd be a marginal improvement, but the guy is still owed $22 million. More than that, actually. He's under contract through 2018. Still, if the Sox are competitive in July, he might be worth the gamble. With Jackson and Avi almost certainly both gone next year (and Melky the year after) and the Sox having nothing that attractive in the pipeline, they're going to need more outfielders.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 12:56 PM) Just remember everytime you see Avi flailing away, you have Adam LaRoche to thank for that. Given LaRoche's age, history with nagging injuries, and the fact that his head was no longer in the game, he likely wouldn't have been a more productive DH.
  16. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 11:01 AM) I just wanted to see him battle and have good ABs. I recall him swinging at a fastball that was neck-high and inside during the TB series. He's still not there mentally, which isn't a good sign.
  17. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 07:17 AM) The Sox know. They need a LH run producer to play DH or the OF. If Avi isn't producing by the end of June, I imagine that the Sox will look to replace him. The problem the Sox have is that they have relatively few tradable players in their minor-league system, and this is complicated by the fact that they'd be bidding against other teams. Because of that, I think it's more likely that they make an internal move. If Anderson is doing OK in Charlotte by July, I can see Avi getting optioned down and Anderson and Rollins splitting time at SS/DH.
  18. Sending Sands down seems like a no-brainer to me. I have no idea why he was put on the 25-man roster in the first place.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 14, 2016 -> 03:35 PM) They were 6-13 vs the Twins overall last year. I knew they had a losing record against them, but yikes...
  20. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 14, 2016 -> 03:12 PM) Already more wins in Minnesota in 2016 than in 2015. Wow. I knew it was bad last year, but didn't think it was THAT bad.
  21. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Apr 14, 2016 -> 02:18 PM) WOOHOO. The Twins are bad. So are the Rays. Lets get three more. I like this strategy. It beats the hell out of entering June twelve games out of first place, and having to play catch-up.
