Hawk was great in the '80s and '90s. Sometime in the 2000s, he got carried away with his Hawk-isms and became something of a caricature of himself. He also became increasingly curmudgeonly, which made him difficult to listen to at times. It's a good thing that he's retiring soon. That said, Hawk was excellent in his prime. Nobody's going to confuse him with Vin Scully, but was really good at what he did and had a uniqueness that I really appreciated.

QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 05:15 PM) I want Robin gone. I have had enough. He will never take this team to a WS. The 25-man roster will determine that, not Robin. -
If the Sox can't find a better option at this point, I'm all for Loney. Dude will cost almost nothing and is about as low-risk as it gets.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 04:25 PM) Danks is a good No. 5 starter. Don't blame him for accepting all that money. Or for the shoulder injury -

Wow, and I was worried about Latos' pitching and Lawrie's defense at 2B. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 04:01 PM) Semien is a second baseman not a ss. I agree with this, though I wasn't terribly impressed with his 10 errors at 2B in 33 games in 2014. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 03:57 PM) Semien's stats for last season are almost identical to Lawrie's. Lawrie had 35 errors last season? -

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 07:23 AM) Offense needs to put about 8 runs on the board. Latos needs to go at least 5 innings and be solid. I want to see a solid outing from him. No blow up innings. Given last year, I'd feel a lot better if the Sox had a nice day offensively. They're definitely a lot better on paper this year, but still. I want to see it in a regular-season game. -
QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 28, 2016 -> 03:02 PM) It will never, ever, ever, ever happen, but I will say the problems were with Greg Walker and somewhat Ozzie, but I don't think it was a player issue, more coaches, who are all gone. I recall that some of the veterans didn't like him all that much. Dye was one, I believe. I also recall Kenny yelling at Swisher for not running out ground balls in ST that year.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 28, 2016 -> 08:05 PM) Swisher's tenure here was essentially an episode of blue balls with a great looking woman that we didn't get to seal the deal on. We were very excited about the chance we had (the acquisition) as he had great assets (power and OBP) but the foreplay (time prior to the season) was ultimately the best part of the experience. Then we pushed her away and she went to the better looking guy and they had lots of good times together. In the end, beauty doesn't last forever. Not only better-looking, but wealthier as well.
-
Swisher is in the twilight of his career, and he's a jackass to boot. No thanks.

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 26, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) Avila was never gonna stay healthy all season. He looks about ten years older than he is. Thankfully we have Navarro to back him up, and not a .600 OPS guy from AAA.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 07:05 PM) So I haven't watched any games, but it seems like we're playing better defensively. Who is gona be the starting shortstop? I'm cautiously optimistic for this season only because nothing has gone right for this team lately. We're due for some good fortune. I'd love one more bat before the season but I could see it not happening until May. It's hard to believe that it won't be Rollins. Especially after the spring he's been having. I'm also (realistically) optimistic about this crew.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 03:54 PM) Not sure, I'm watching on Comcast so that's why I said that I see. The MLB.TV feed is really bad today and was basically unwatchable by the 7th inning.
-
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) Holy s***, who is the catcher right now? Still Avila? That's a horrible attempt at a rundown. lmao. Looks like Avila. I expect better than that from him.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 03:50 PM) Someone please fix the Comcast Is it the CSN feed or the MLB.TV feed?
-
Just when I thought that MLB.TV had gotten its act together, the sound is cutting in and out.

Melky doing his best Avi impression with the dramatic catch at the wall.

QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 23, 2016 -> 04:50 PM) Davidson always was an imperfect prospect, but IMO the main reason he hasn't been the starting 3B for the past 2 years is all because he collapsed emotionally after not making the team out of ST when we traded for him. On one hand, that means he could turn it around at any point. On the other, it means he may be too mentally fragile to ever be counted on. Maybe, but people tend to become more emotionally tough as they mature.
