  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 02:19 PM) I'm not sure what you mean by "everything" but he decided to take on a task of managing a sensitive issue in the locker room, and did it so ineffectively that it has been national news for 3 days and has his ace pitcher openly talking s*** in the media. That's less than inspiring from a President of the company. And what's worse, since this was handled so high up, the only escalation point is the owner. I don't disagree, but it doesn't help when you have to deal with an immature jackass like Sale fanning the flames through the media. Sale should be fined, and possibly suspended as well.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 02:18 PM) If KW really said no kids at all, then he was trying to make him quit. No way would LaRoche agree to that, and I don't blame him Remember that Kenny confronted LaRoche twice about this. I would guess that Kenny completely cut off access after LaRoche didn't comply with his original request.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 02:15 PM) KW does seem the type that if he felt LaRoche ignored him, the second time around he would tell him no access. I agree with that.
  4. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) Was this posted yet? Josh Nelson ‏@SSS_joshnelson 1m1 minute ago Chicago, IL Question from Chris Sale media session:Can this hurt the team in free agency in the future? Sale: I don’t see how it couldn’t. I'm getting the feeling that Sale doesn't want to play for the Sox anymore, and it probably goes well beyond this incident. He may be regretting the team-friendly contract that he signed.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 02:07 PM) Probably best to just fire KW at this point. He's the president and is showing no ability to handle the team. This will die down eventually, and go back to normal. But if he's this bad at dealing with this stuff... Do you guys have any confidence in KW dealing with a domestic violence incident or something like that? The beginning of the season isn't the best time to fire the guy who is in charge of baseball operations. But I do agree that Kenny needs a change of scenery.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 02:03 PM) Doesn't matter at this time. Either LaRoche or KW is lying about what was said in that meeting Eaton said that there was a contractual clause, though.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 01:55 PM) Adam LaRoche releases a statement: http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sof75p Nothing in there about a contractual clause regarding Drake's clubhouse access
  8. QUOTE (blackmooncreeping @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 01:52 PM) Which makes it seem like it's a possibility that KW didn't get JR's approval before he made the move. IF so, that's not a good look for KW. I doubt that Kenny needs Reinsdorf's approval to make those types of decisions.
  9. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 01:31 PM) It bc he didn't walk out on them, they all know that family comes first and that Is above all else. Also they knew he only came here bc the sox allowed his son to be there all the time. The players are 100% with LaRoche and against KW That seems unlikely, as some players were reportedly the ones who complained about Drake LaRoche being around constantly.
  10. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 01:25 PM) For those saying sale and Eaton should shut up and deal with this internally how the hell will that work. They can't go to Ventura bc KW went over his head with all of this, same as RH. The only option they have is to go to JR, but KW head is so far up JR *** that it won't help. So they take the only avenue available to them. They reportedly do have an upcoming meeting with Reinsdorf. If only they could've kept their mouths shut until then...
  11. QUOTE (Dunt @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 01:22 PM) I find it ironic that these guys are so stoutly defending LaRoche despite the underlying fact that he walked out on the team. And are causing a media frenzy and PR nightmare for the team in doing so
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 01:03 PM) Adam Hoge ‏@AdamHoge 6m6 minutes ago Chris Sale: "We have a much bigger problem on our hands than Kenny coming in here and kicking out a kid and LaRoche retiring." Yeah, like consistently failing to make the playoffs. So STFU and concentrate on winning baseball games.
  13. QUOTE (JoeCredeYes @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 12:51 PM) The time has come for Kenny to go. He's overdue for a change of scenery, but not because of this.
  14. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 12:46 PM) I don't know why everyone is ripping Sale or even Eaton. Sale is doing exactly what you want a leader of the clubhouse to do Publicly and privately attacking the team's VP is what a team leader does? Seriously?
  15. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 12:24 PM) Agree. And if we suck over the next year and a half to 2 years and they look to possible rebuilding, Eaton is first one gone. I'd say it would be Sale. He's the one causing the most problems and he'll net the best package of prospects and ML-ready talent.
  16. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 12:34 PM) I'm wondering if Kenny has too much a presence in the locker room and players don't like that. Kenny does seem to be a control freak in a way Kenny also has a history of rubbing players the wrong way.
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 12:24 PM) Can the dude from The Killing play Chris Sale when this becomes a movie?
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 11:13 AM) Bill Shaikin ‏@BillShaikin 23m23 minutes ago Chris Sale, ripping Ken Williams, on clubhouse access debacle: "If we’re all here to win a championship, this kind of stuff doesn’t happen." What in the hell does Sale know about winning a championship? Does he think that publicly and privately attacking the team's VP is part of achieving that goal? And then there's Kenny, who has actually won a championship...
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 11:12 AM) Why don't Hahn or Reinsdorf come right out and directly state the language wasn't included in the contract? I'd guess it's because Reinsdorf decided that Kenny would be the "bad cop" in this situation and would do all of the talking.
  20. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 11:04 AM) What does it matter what they say? Eaton, the player rep and vocal defender of LaRoche said LaRoche told him its written in the contract. If it is, get rid of KW and admit they made a mistake, if it isnt LaRoche is caught lying and his credibility is gone. KW has already stated its not in his contract. One of them is lying and we have a way to find out who when the details of the contract are eventually exposed. LaRoches camp may have made a grave mistake by saying it was written in his contract instead of sticking to the hand shake deal that could never be proven. And yes, if it is in the contract not only is KW out of bounds he needs to be fired and held accountable for whatever laws he violated. +1
  21. The most infuriating thing about this is that LaRoche clearly WANTS to retire and spend more time with his kids. Otherwise, he would've simply filed a grievance with the MLBPA, shipped Drake off to live with his mother, and continued playing. And guys like Sale and Eaton and burning down the clubhouse to support a guy who doesn't want to be their teammate anymore. It's ridiculous on so many levels.
  22. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 10:30 AM) Again, I must agree. Sale rubbed me wrong with binocular-gate and now this BS just adds to it. Eaton rubbed me wrong last year when he had a hissy over sitting out for a game. Sale and Eaton are acting like toddlers that need to be put over the knee for a good old fashioned spanking. Yep Unless the Sox are rebuilding, that's not going to happen. Sale and Eaton both know it, which is why they feel free to say whatever the hell they want. I seriously hope that somebody like Abreu steps up and confronts them.
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 10:26 AM) And that's fine. Great. Now Robin needs to say some s*** like "How about we channel all this anger and frustration towards winning games for Adam and Drake, instead of on Twitter." Whatever. I don't care. Just make them shut up. For the sake of the poor kid, even. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen to guys like Sale and Eaton because have all of the leverage. And they know it.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 10:19 AM) From what's come out, the respect the team has for him is what saved a boycott Yep, hard-asses tend to not make it as managers anymore (unless you're Mike Scioscia and your owner loves and will never fire you). You have to get players to like you to succeed as a manager these days. Which is why it was logical for Kenny to bring down the hammer.
