QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:44 PM) I think this will blow over eventually, but if it doesn't and the White Sox tank in 2016, my prediction is RH...gone. RV...gone. KW takes back the GM seat. I can't see KW taking a demotion.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:16 PM) I didn't read any of his tweets about this so I don't know. Was anything really that bad? Nothing that I know about this particular subject. He took a lot of heat for the Oscars tweet. And while that was mostly dumb people venting for no good reason, Ventura had to come out and publicly "suggest" that he knock it off.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:14 PM) What unprofessional overuse of Twitter? Do you think these guys are supposed to be f***ing robots programmed for your entertainment and have their lives stop when they're not on the ball diamond? Who the f*** are you to judge what is and what is not professional appropriate use for Twitter? Uh, because when you're a pro athlete and a public figure and you discuss controversial stuff on Twitter, it reflects poorly on your employer. I shouldn't have to explain that to a grown adult.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 12:52 PM) Yea what a total asshat off the field this guy is. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-leag...-065247398.html So it's not OK to criticize somebody for their unprofessional overuse of Twitter if they do nice things every so often? I didn't get the memo.

I love Eaton on the field. Off the field, not so much.

QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:32 PM) how can sale let alone anyone else have a problem with a what, 15+yr vet, who is respected.... Because he's an immature ass with anger issues. If the argument for limiting kids' access is more focus on work, the Sox are in the right for changing the rules. The horrible base-running that we saw last year alone seems to indicate that many of these guys had their heads up their rears under the previous rules.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:26 PM) I'm sure Sox management would have preferred to take the blame and not divide the clubhouse. This will only hurt the team now. It was why it should have stayed in house. Laroche destroyed the performance last year and will destroy the team this year by leaking it all out. So does this make LaRoche the worst ever FA signing by the Sox?
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:20 PM) Not who I was thinking of but look at the new guys they brought in. Frazier Lawrie Narvarro Avila Rollins That's a lot of voices taking over for the quiet clubhouse outside of Adam Eatin before. Also notice that the best player on the team has yet be spoken to. I got the impression that Frazier was buddy-buddy with LaRoche and Eaton, but that's just my impression. I wish that more of this team would adopt Abreu's attitude.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:12 PM) Take a look at who has tweeted or complained publicly. It's the old guard of the team that led a mediocre effort the last year or two. No who isn't responding. Who complained. Whose lockers are near LaRoches? This guy, I take it? QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:13 PM) Bernstein and Spiegel basically just confirmed that a group of players led by Jimmy Rollins went to management. I understand Sale wanting to police their own room but they've done a poor job of doing that to this point and their manager doesn't do it. This is a case of new veteran players coming in and deciding that this had to stop.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:11 PM) That is just ridiculous. If the Sox ever lose Sale, it will be a dark day for the franchise. If they decide to hold a fire sale, they're clearly starting over. In which case the prospect package for Sale would be more valuable to the Sox than Sale at that point. I'm glad that Sale is very good at what he does and I'm glad that he's trying to help this team win. As long as the Sox are in go-for-it mode, I'm happy that Sale's on the team. But I'll never respect him in the way that I respect guys like Buehrle and Ventura.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:08 PM) I would but he's not the leader of the team. He's well respected but he isn't out there every day. It's pretty easy to see who has taken over with this team. Forgive me, but it's not obvious to me. Eaton? Frazier?
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:01 PM) Change is fine, but if you have given your word, that should mean something. I actually agree with this. Then again, we have no evidence that Sale's kid was promised 100% access. At the very least, it's not in his contract, which means that his options for recourse are severely limited. This is likely why he decided to retire, rather than file a grievance with the MLBPA.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 12:58 PM) No offense to Chris but the leadership baton isn't with him these days even though he's well respected. Like it or not the Sox brought in new strong voices who have taken over If the Sox are still mired in mediocrity next July, I hope that Sale is the first one out the door in the fire sale. I won't miss him.
-
QUOTE (Baron @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 11:49 AM) You would hope Adam has a little sense and just stick to the decision. Part ways and move on. But maybe he wants to collect some of that cash. He could've collected all of it by simply following the (reasonable) rules and playing out his final year.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 11:34 AM) Jeff Passan @JeffPassan 6m6 minutes ago F-bombs aplenty flew during the White Sox's meeting with Kenny Williams. Players so pissed they considered boycott, as @karlravechespn said. Jeff Passan @JeffPassan 8m8 minutes ago Heard same as @thekapman: In a contentious meeting, Chris Sale absolutely lit up White Sox prez Kenny Williams over Adam LaRoche situation. Sale needs to grow up and learn to control his anger.
-
QUOTE (Baron @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 11:23 AM) http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/adam-la...baseball-031716 LaRoche's view on school is probably the dumbest thing I've read in weeks not counting political stuff "We're not big on school."
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 11:07 AM) So he should have been fine with KW making him a closer full time? Yes, that's a completely acceptable reason to threaten somebody.
-
QUOTE (shysocks @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 11:10 AM) And to be fair, I don't think LaRoche wanted this to become the firestorm it has. I think he played the victim to his family and friends and it leaked through them to that Pittsburgh reporter yesterday. Yeah, I agree with that. And this is why I hope that he files his retirement paperwork this week. He's a cancer now and needs to go.
-
QUOTE (Doc Edwards Shot @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 11:04 AM) I haven't found any evidence that other players in the clubhouse didn't want the kid there. I guarantee you that Kenny didn't do this on his own. While he is prone to being an ass at times, he's smart enough to not trash his clubhouse's chemistry. The only logical explanation for this is that some players went to management with complaints (or wanting similar access for their kids) and management decided to act. And he'll gladly fall on the sword for them because he's far-removed from the clubhouse.
-
QUOTE (shysocks @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 11:03 AM) No, but he started a war of public opinion with his hashtag activism, with his son who he loves so much at the center of the controversy. And that shows the difference between claiming you're a good father and actually being a good father. A good father would say what he wants to say behind closed doors and keep his kid out of the controversy.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 10:56 AM) Why isn't everyone saying what an idiot Chris Sale is for being pissed off about it? Sale's an idiot for more serious reasons. Didn't he threaten Kenny over the phone back in his first or second year?
-
QUOTE (shysocks @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 10:52 AM) This is what's getting me the most. Are all of these athletes too stupid to understand gray areas? The guy can still see his f***ing son every day after work, like 99.9% of the people in the world with children and a job. Like much of 21st century America, yes.
-
QUOTE (Knackattack @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 10:41 AM) 13 million dollars and your job or stop pissing off your co-workers by bringing your kid to the job every day... easy decision IMO And in addition to setting a bad example of how to comply with rules at work, LaRoche's surrogates and buddies attack the Sox via Twitter and drag Drake into the media spotlight. What awesome parenting. #FamilyFirst!
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 11:21 AM) Looks like LaRoche and company still going at it: E3 Meat Company @E3Meat 1h1 hour ago Baseball is a game started by a father & son playing catch! @e3laroche #familyfirst He really needs to make a decision and then stop trying to win this argument in the media. If there was any hope of LaRoche getting some sort of a buyout, it's gone now.

QUOTE (Lillian @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 11:05 AM) Have you noticed that Kaplan did a complete about face? There are 2 or 3 videos on CSN, in which he is very vehemently critical of La Roche, and supportive of management. I wonder what caused the change of view? Threat of a libel suit?
