Say By Fall we need new vaccines (I seriously doubt we will, as they've said the vaccine has been effective against most variants). They shut everything down again. Then what? More strain variants? More vaccines? You can't do this forever. Also, enough people will feel safe. Not everyone has to. I think the combination of this being the best team in decades, and people wanting to go out and see live sporting events...I think tickets will sell out with the capacity limits tbh

Now that's funny. Maybe he's secretly Manny Machado's cousin too
-
It really is getting extremely annoying. I'm considering jumping ship until opening day. Great post btw.

I could argue my point more but it wouldn't do much without real numbers. I wish clubs would share their budgets and revenue incomes vs expenditures...then all this would become much more clear.

I am going to get ridiculed for this, but i don't care. Money isn't always the primary factor playing into a free agent's decision. Many times, yes, it probably is. But not always. See: Zack Wheeler 2019-2020 offseason

Yes but only like 3 people actually live in the state of Iowa.

Giolito Working on a New Pitch..."The Downer"
Ducksnort replied to Ducksnort's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I personally think the name goes great with the logo of our beloved stadium. Hell, he should advertise the pitch and have Guaranteed Rate sponsor it with their logo. -
Giolito primed for another standout season (mlb.com) This is exciting. “It’s like a 12-6 curveball, but it just goes down,” Giolito said. “It comes out of my hand almost like a slider variant. It’s hard to give it a real true name like curveball or slider. But the whole idea of it is it comes out on my fastball plane and then just goes down kind of later, whereas my slider is a little more right to left with that downward action. This one is more like out of the hand fastball plane, straight down late So...like a straight, slow, sinker maybe? With hard break on it?

Have the White Sox "spent the money" that Rick Hahn promised?

Absolutely. Great post -
Have the White Sox "spent the money" that Rick Hahn promised?
Ducksnort replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Depends on what your spending window is. Are you looking at beginning of rebuild to beginning of contention window, or beginning of contention window to end of contention window? I choose to believe the latter. And the contention window just opened. -
Who approached you? Did the Manfred go to Biden's Admin or the other way around?

Why are we still listening to these people -
Aren't the minor leagues being delayed again this year? At what point are these guys going to start playing games again?
-
Because they had Edwin who was getting paid nicely and Jerry won't let handsomely (relatively) paid players ride the pine. Other than that, there is absolutely zero need to try and get an extra year out of Vaughn by keeping him down 2 weeks and just pissing him off to retain more control. The window to win is now. He'll be here during for the entirety of it, service time manipulation games or not. Plus the CBA might have a thing or two to say about that this time next year.
-
Well you can pencil Vaughn into that DH spot. They obviously believe he's ready to go.
-
If it's one thing the Sox are good at, it's knowing how to handle their pitchers. I'm not worried about this.
-
Fully agree. However I did hear on the radio today they are expecting things to get bad again soon with these new strains blowing up all over. Son of a b**** man...will this ever end? Not only for normalcy but man...I'm so sick of hearing people dying from this.

Probably not. It would have a major negative impact on that good ol' budget though! -
Next offseason CBA negotiations are going to be very, very ugly.

"Counter proposal even a question" ...what does that mean? They might not counter offer?

Bold prediction: Nick Madrigal wins Rookie of the Year in 2021

And with rebuilds becoming more and more common, the cycles will continue

Look, I just want to go back to the good old days when we were discussing division realignment, schedule restructuring and team expansion lol.

I hope you're right
