  1. The league average is 107 million. White Sox are currently at 120 million, so above average, 13th in the league, right above the Jays and below the Cubs. I firmly believe the pandemic played a major role in the Sox not pursuing more targets this offseason, like pretty much every other team except for the Mets (Padres don't count...they traded everyone) Depth is the scary thing. No doubt. But...I wouldn't say the Sox are being cheap right now.
  2. I would pay money for a middle finger emoji
  3. They could just not allow fans to attend the games if it's that big of a concern. I understand the seriousness of Covid, trust me I do, but there is no reason ST shouldn't start on time. They made it work last year where there were extended periods of time with players not contracting the virus.
  4. See: John Danks. I think that was the nail in the coffin right there...
  5. Yeah I hope they never use purely just numbers as determinants for awards for this exact reason.
  6. I think it will be earlier than that. They are saying vaccines should be available to all the public by April, I'd bet they start allowing fans in by June
  7. Probably because the same education system they graduated from is the same education system that hasn't changed much...that doesn't teach personal finance. Budgeting is such a simple concept...however it is not a "common sense" one. It does need to be taught. Apparently the handling of money is less important than Algebra 2 or Dante's Inferno... When I graduated in December 2016, I had about 40 k to pay off. My wife had about 50 k when she graduated in December 2014. Neither one of us knew much about personal finance, but we knew we wanted to get our ducks in a row. We heard about Dave Ramsey just before we got married in May of 2015, signed up for his class, and have lived by his principles since. With the help of those basic ideas (and living at her parents for a year and 3 months with them graciously charging rent at only $200 a month), we have all her loans paid off and mine will be paid off next month. We haven't been paying mine since they did the Student loan payment and interest pause back in March 2019 due to covid, and we won't pay it because there are lots of rumors that Biden might forgive some of it...he's already going to executive order to student loan payment pause to September. But we would not be where we are right now had we not sought out some wisdom. It was all too clear to me that personal finance should be taught in school, and it baffled me as to why it's not.
  8. January, historically the most boring and excruciating month in MLB offseason, is now (at least for 2021) the most entertaining.
  9. Hmm..interesting. I suppose they could take a shot at that 2nd wild card (I think its a pretty safe bet that either San Diego or LA will take the 1st wildcard), but I think there's too much talent in the NL East for one of them not to get the 2nd spot. You'd think one of the Mets, Nats, and Braves (and dare I mention Miami who made the playoffs in 2020) would get the 2nd wild card over the Giants.
  10. Well in that case, Detroit Tigers. They have boat loads of cash.
  11. And the Giants aren't winning anything anytime soon, so you can rule them out, per Bauer's desire to win. Soo...Angels and Jays then?
  12. Yeah, Lester is definitely not a TOR starter anymore
  13. Injuries scare me. While this team will make the pKayoffs, they do need more depth.
  14. Yeah I thought I remember something like that happening with him like last offseason
  15. Hasn't Hector been wrong more than right on his speculation/rumors?
