Will We Have a Full 162 Game Season in 2021?

In the end, it's billionaires and millionaires fighting over money...and the fans are defending them... -
Will We Have a Full 162 Game Season in 2021?

In the end, it was pretty clear that both sides were being greedy and stubborn. Owners were definitely the ones to blame in the beginning, but in the end the PA was being just as stubborn as the owners were. -

I think it's pretty clear there will be some form of fan restriction if they start playing games on April 1st. I think they better start soon with these labor negotiations, because if they wait until like February, we will see the same ugly situation we saw this year, where the delay will be purely about money. And of course all this is happening right when the White Sox contention window opens -

Yeah, I think it really depends on the vaccine and how that all shakes out. -
I haven't seen this being discussed anywhere else, feel free to move it if it needs to be. I thought it would be interesting to hear what everyone thinks, though. I don't think anyone really knows what exactly is going to happen.

Passan: Springer to White Sox not happening
Ducksnort replied to KrankinSox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Eh, aside his temper, he gets hurt too often. -
I'm not saying I can do better than him, nor am I saying he should not be making that much. Was simply making an observation that it blows my mind. Thanks for assuming though, I do appreciate it. I agree that they are highly specialized and the work they put in is basically all year, not just for 7-8 months. I don't understand why I can't be surprised though, or better yet, why you feel the need to tell me I shouldn't be surprised by it. We all (myself included) talk about 7 figures like it's a normal thing...it most certainly is not normal. Hence why it just struck me when I actually thought about how much money that is.

It still blows my mind how much professional athletes make. We always talk about it in terms of millions...and then you look at a guy like Jace Fry who most people don't know who he is, outside of the Chicago White Sox, and he's set to make almost $900,000. For one year. Lol.

Not sure about a full season but I definitely think he starts in AAA and if he proves himself there, they won't hesitate to bring him up. I say a few months.

If no new RF by Nontender deadline, should Sox tender Mazara?
Ducksnort replied to YourWhatHurts's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I honestly thing Engel will work his way into being a starting outfielder somehow next season. Whether it be due to someone else getting injured, or the Sox failing to sign someone else. I think he's going to finally break out to being the player everyone thought he could be when he was called up. He showed flashes of it in this shortened season. He had more bat control and was hitting balls the other way. Those are signs of a hitter figuring it out (hello Tim Anderson). -
I'm going to say the Sox are waiting in the weeds. Them being silent is probably the best thing to happen right now

So the deadline is the 2nd right? Which means we should hear about Gio and Lopez signing contracts in the next few days? -

So the 2 major names that are in danger of being non-tendered are...Rodon and Nomar? -

He isn't a good fielder..if he can't hit then why have him? Id rather Start Engel who atleast showed he can finally hit now, and even if he sucks at hitting again, at least he provides fielding, speed and baserunning. -
Ditto. I found this site in 2015 and it has been a fantastic outlet for me to talk about the Sox. I've been here throughout the rebuild...that says something about this site lol.

Same. I'm 26 and healthy, haven't been even close to sick this entire time covid has been here, and due to the nature of my work, I am around people all the time. I haven't gotten sick yet, and not saying I won't or I shouldn't be concerned for myself, but I think the more vulnerable populations should get it before I do.

This will be an off-season like none other....
Ducksnort replied to Look at Ray Ray Run's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I just don't understand the reason behind a possibility of a stoppage. Both sides know pretty much with what each other wants. There was already a stoppage of sorts last year. But I guess it wouldn't surprise me considering that they almost didn't play this year due to fighting over money. -
Do you talk to your mother with that mouth?

I heard that Fetter went to Detroit because he lives in Ann Arbor.

I hate the idea of trading Madrigal, a likely 2021 all star for Yu Darvish with the injury history he has had. No thank you. There are pitchers on the market that all you need to do is give up cash for. Unless the plan os to resign Semien, I don't want to see Madrigal go.

How bad are the Cubs going to be in 2021?
Ducksnort replied to YourWhatHurts's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It's a shame, really -
How bad are the Cubs going to be in 2021?
Ducksnort replied to YourWhatHurts's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Kind of sucks, honestly. I would rather have both teams be best in their divisions and have those crosstown series be so entertaining, like they were in 06, 08, 12. Never really hated the cubs either. -
Jose Abreu wins 2020 AL MVP and Hank Aaron Award

Yeah I just think he was trying to control his emotions so he could speak to the guys at MLB Network. -

What an emotional response. I was a little worried with him hitting himself in the face... -
