Let alone as a starter...
-
We just need to pray that covid and injuries don't ravage the team
-
The last 14 are going to be tough, but the previous 14 are against the royals, tigers, pirates, and 3 mixed in with the twins. It balances out but those last 2 weeks are gonna definitely be a test
-
Yeah...that was my immediate reaction
-
Um...is Cleveland really changing their name to the spiders?
-
None of this surprises me. Maybe if they focused on getting all of this straight instead of dicking around about money, we wouldn't be in this situation. I am usually a very optimistic person, but I am feeling very skeptical about this season actually finishing.
-
Yep. Shit sucks. I think they release the full schedule tomorrow. That will be fun at least. This season, I think we basically have to enjoy whatever is given to us. It's all gravy from here on out.

I think African American

Uh ohhhhh
-
And what word is that

I apologize if this has already been discussed (I've not been following this thread regularly and I don't want to search through hundreds of pages of posts), but has anyone here actually tested positive? If so, what was your experience? If this has already been discussed at length, feel free to direct me to the general page. Thank you!

I definitely pood my pants a wee bit.

Yeah I don't think they will really be allowing reporters to be inside will they?

And players report to summer camp

Ex-teammate alleges Grandal took roids in front of teammates

He still tweeted it and ran the story. Regardless, this is the last thing baseball needs right now. -

No but obviously some people did...dude was suspended 50 games. Do we even need to know? It was 8 years ago. Baseball doesn't need anymore negativity right now. This is the last news it needs, especially for a fanbase whose team is pretty much ignored around the league to begin with. -

I hate Bernstein's reporting. "Uh yeah we just heard from someone that Yasmani Grandal took steroids 8 years ago and was suspended for it. Let's bring this into light right before the season starts." If he was suspended for it, people already know about it. The only point in making this news is to stir up drama. GTFO Dan. -
I actually agree. I love movies and I find Field of Dreams to be terrible as well. But you can't do a Field of Dreams game without the White Sox....
-
It would be such a cubs and espn move to strip this national opportunity from the White Sox and give it to the Cubs...

Sox planning on having fans present in small amounts

Obviously the virus is very dangerous because it is invisible and can spread very easily from person to person. But this whole thing has led me to think about other dangers in the sport that could also potentially cause life-altering or life-ending results, that aren't paid as much attention to. I think the most dangerous thing in baseball is quite literally the ball itself. We've seen what the ball can do when it moves fast. A minor league (coach I believe?) was killed while being struck in the head in the dugout a few years ago. That led to 1st and 3rd base coaches required to wear helmets. We saw a little girl in the stands in Houston last year get a hard liner to the head, causing permanent brain damage. As a result, netting is being put up from foul pole to foul pole all across MLB parks. Warning tracks were created so outfielders can better anticipate the wall and lessen the chance of breaking something (unless you're Adam Eaton). No more hard slides into 2nd base or bowling over the catcher at homeplate. How can we better anticipate these kinds of things in the game to protect players before injuries or (God-forbid) death, force a decision to be made? I for one think a discussion needs to be had about pitchers starting to wear helmets and/or facemasks on the mound. Balls are being pitched faster, resulting in harder hit balls. We've all seen a couple scares already with pitchers getting hit in the head with liners in recent years. -
Would it be a fight between NBCSC and Marquee with the Cubs/Sox games this year? Or would it depend on who the home team is?
-
IDK but they better refund most of what I paid for a full season through MLB.TV
-
I was being sarcastic. Obviously they wouldn't seat me, or any other fan, next to a ball player.
-
Um, I'm pretty sure if they put me 5 seats away from Jose Abreu neither he nor I would get the covid. Just sayin.

However it plays out this season, I will be very interested to see how it affects the game in the seasons to come as changes are made.
