  1. I read that he isn't "technically" retiring...that he could still play next year (not really sure who would sign him). I think I remember him saying he wanted to play into his 50s...
  2. The hype around Eloy is real. No doubt about it. But let's forget about hype for a second and look strictly at numbers... In 52 at bats, Eloy is batting .250 (which, to be fair, has been steadily climbing since his return). He has an OBP of .281 (that needs to improve) and a slugging of .519. (.800 ops). Granted, this is only like barely 2 weeks worth of games, and he is coming off an injury, but he isn't exactly dominating the league. Hahn has said over and over again these guys will not be called up to the next level until they have shown they they have nothing else to learn in the current league they are in. No matter how bad the fans want them. The ONLY way I see Eloy being push up to AAA without improving his numbers and dominating the league, is if one of the guys from the Dash get their call for AA. Which could very well happen soon considering what they are doing down there. I'm even of the opinion that Eloy will not be here until September call-ups and will start next year at AAA, to be completely honest.
  3. What's funny about this is they are playing the Twins...and it's supposed to rain all night tonight in Chicago. Like 80% chance starting at 7pm. Are these teams ever gonna play each other again?? Maybe double header tomorrow or Saturday.
  4. I disagree. If he can hone his offspeed and locate it, velocity won't matter. Plenty of historically dominant pitchers with no velocity. Let's also not freak out about his meltdown. He's only 22...plenty to learn.
  5. I am having way too much fun watching Giolito pitch. He has a beautiful curve ball when he controls it. He is mixing his pitches well and location is pinpoint. Hes working quickly. Who cares about velocity when you have deception and control? I prefer that actually. This is probably the best start we have had yet, aside from maybe one of ReyLo's gems...and even ReyLo isn't this efficient.
  6. Not only did he give up 2 walks, but Gwinette has only scored 4 runs...
  7. Yeah...I really really hope we start setting Engel on the bench as a late inning defensive replacement or pinch runner soon.
  8. Contrary to what others are saying on the board, and to popular belief, tie does not go to the baserunner. The rulebook says the runner needs to beat the throw in order for the runner to be safe. In my opinion, Moncada didn't beat it, looked like a tie to me. So I think they got the call right. But what do I know.
  9. I guess technically the runner has to beat the throw and that was a tie
  10. It really is amazing the disparity between our current infield vs the outfield...but the minors system is just loaded with stud outfielders. Just a little disappointing that our center fielder likely won't make the debut until 2020.
  11. Look at the rest of the league. They are by no means alone in this
  12. I think Abreu was mad at striking out because he has been scuffling lately. Nothing to do with Perez.
  13. Palka has definitely been quite the nice surprise!! Also, I love random shots of Abreu yelling.
  14. Can you believe if we didn't make those trades, Covey would be like our best starting pitching prospect. Or one of them at least.
  15. It really is fascinating how one game can make your numbers go from crap to really good. He went from having a .000 average to a .300 average in one game lol.
  16. When Davidson goes on these tears, he carries the club and is easily one of the most liked players on the team. When he gets cold though, he is easily one of the most frustrating players to watch play. While he has had his moments so far this young season, I'm not sold yet. Right now, to me he is a rich man's Dayan Viciedo, or a right handed Adam Dunn, with a slightly better average. I need a full season of Davidson before I can decide if he has truly transformed himself. For now, I remain optimistic and anticipate a homerun Everytime he steps up to the plate. I will say, his bombs are always hit extremely hard.
  17. Thought he might be. I saw a shot of him yesterday chatting it up in the dugout.
