  1. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 07:24 PM) I knew it when this guy was hitting 280 in AA and AAA as a 20/21 year old the Sox might have something. He's always been criminally under-rated even among Sox fans imo. With that glove he never had to hit much to be useful. Now that he's hitting he's a solid regular, hell he might even be turning into a star. Absolutely. I always favored him even over Micah Johnson when he was supposed to be our 2nd baseman of the future.
  2. Yolmer Sanchez is quickly becoming one of the most underrated 3rd baseman in the game.
  3. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 07:17 PM) They have a day off Friday Yep. Give Jones 3 days rest. Pitched yesterday, 20 pitches today. Can't be too careful.
  4. YOLMER!!! On that note, Jones shouldn't pitch the rest of the weekend lol. That arm is too precious.
  5. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 06:59 PM) I think they could score 800 runs this year. Might give up 850 though. Right. I think the run differential will ultimately what does them in. The rotation right now is decent...will be solid once Rodon comes back, and when Kopech gets here, it will be close to dominant (assuming health). But the pen largely relies on the performance (and, again, health) of Jones and Soria. They go, then the 6th inning on for Sox baseball will be very hard to watch.
  6. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 06:57 PM) Not sustainable but it sure is a nice change from corpseball. Yeah I don't think it is sustainable either, but I don't think it would be unreasonable for them to finish in the top 6 or 7 in the American league in offensive numbers.
  7. The White Sox currently lead all of baseball in OPS...by 31 points (According to MLB.com). 1=Sox at .898 2=ATL (wow) at .857 And this is after a week of baseball. Sustainable? They also lead the league in homers by 14.
  8. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 06:51 PM) Tim Anderson walks twice?! wow. I'm sayin!! He's seeing the ball very well early on. In fact, him, Abreu, Avi, Davidson, Castillo and Yolmer all are. I only wish I could say the same about Moncada, but even he has had a couple big hits in this young season.
  9. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 06:43 PM) You mean all 2 of them? 3. Bummer, Avilan, and Santiago (although, he is long-relief, so not sure if you want to count him or not).
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 06:33 PM) Why does Farquhar pitch every game? I think his general role is middle relief. We are going to see him a lot in the 6th inning this year and for the 1st or 2nd out of the 7th. It is odd, though, because they do have Infante to fill that role as well. And I haven't seen much of him. I guess I view Minaya as more of an 8th inning guy.
  11. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 06:08 PM) this is absurd, just call the game. you can't play baseball in this s***. Kind of seems like the Sox are playing just fine...and in fact enjoying it. Maybe sucks for the fans, but it's not like the snow is making playing conditions unplayable. I mean, I wouldn't mind them calling it given the current state of our pen, but I don't think it is necessary. In other news, Anderson walked.
  12. This is such a fun team to watch!! Gonna need these runs with the pen coming on for 4 innings.
  13. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 06:02 PM) What if Matt Davidson is a good hitter now? He definitely seems to have righted the ship. Not pulling everything, making solid, hard contact on most balls he hits. Almost had number 5 there. If he stays healthy, easily a 40 homerun 100 rbi season for him. If he can do this in, what 27 degree weather? Imagine what he could do in the summer months when he goes on a hot streak.
  14. There is something oddly satisfying seeing a white baseball fly through the white snowflakes on slow-motion replay (Avi's liner case in point)
  15. Engel seems to have forgotten his hot bat in Arizona. He's getting underneath the balls and seems to be hitting a lot of flyballs and pop-ups. Not ideal for his skill-set.
  16. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 05:30 PM) No, they were chanting “Detroit sucks” Oh haha either way its funny. Also I think Jose fixed his glove
  17. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 05:26 PM) Are these umpires f***ing blind? Lol they were chanting "these umps suck...these umps suck..."
  18. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 05:26 PM) Are these umpires f***ing blind? Jose just saved Anderson an error...and an ump some backlash.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 04:40 PM) I wonder if Hawk's eyesight is not so good. He was slow to confirm Yolmer had put that baby in play. He also said they were waving in Abreu, when in fact it was Davidson. Man, I love hearing his voice again, but he is making the right decision to retire now. Heard a lot of those inaccurate calls last year as well.
  20. Would at least have Anderson having in front of Leury the way he's been swinging, if not in front of Yolmer. Also interesting decision to start Narvaez over Castillo. I understand giving him rest, but it's opening day. You'd think you'd want to field the most "attractive" players on the field on opening day.
  21. Plenty of chances to score this game. If they lose this, it's on the offense.
  22. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 07:57 PM) Beautiful Fulmer. He’s painting that part of the plate Really likng his breaking balls... They have great movement on them
  23. Still tied for first in the division haha. Enjoy it while you can!!
  24. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 08:44 PM) Missed his last AB, so this is more a delayed statement from earlier, but I?€™ve always been baffled about why Moncada excites people. Strikes out waaaaay too much. Think Kopech will be the actual prize from the Sale trade, and it won?€™t even be close. Also, is there anyone left who thinks Saladino doesn?€™t suck? I called that one a while ago. As a hitter, yeah he's not very good. As a fielder, he can still pick it and throw it. He has his moments. Saladino that is.
  25. QUOTE (Tony @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 08:41 PM) I said it before, but everyone understood this team would struggle to win 75 games this season, and it’s all part of plan. So far, guys like Shields, Gonzalez and the bullpen have performed as expected..bad. What did people think 85+ losses was going to look like? Still kind of hard to accept in the game moment lol.
