QUOTE (hi8is @ Oct 1, 2017 -> 05:15 AM) For 8 years, every single season between 1990 to 1998 - my dad and I would go see every Sox game against the Angels. hi8is Sr. was a really b****en father... it didn't matter if it was a 3 or 4 game set... every single game we would get there about 3 hours before the gates opened for batting practice and we would then stay after the game was over for about 2 additional hours. Before and after games Ventura became someone we relied on being able to not just get a signature from - but also to have some of his time. He'd spend at least a few minutes per year taking with my pops and it was obvious that Ventura came to recognize him after a couple years. The Big Hurt was similar in that he was just a stand up guy in that setting. His method for signing was to have everyone line up... he'd stand and sign after games more often than not for over an hour until everyone had their memento. If it was daylight out, he would always willingly pose for as many pictures as people requested during this process... always flashing his patent pending smile. Those two players are the reason I latched onto the Sox and never let go. Thomas more so than Ventura -- but the point is that yes, in my personal experience -- Ventura was one of the best on and off the field. This is really cool. Thanks for sharing. I didn't start following the Sox until 2004 (I was 10 years old) so I never got to experience Ventura as a player, or really even Big Frank for that matter. It's cool to see how both of these guys were toward fans.

QUOTE (Lillian @ Oct 1, 2017 -> 05:48 AM) Someone may have answered this question: If there is a tie in the standings, how is it decided? They said it's whoever is worse in 2016 gets better pick
-
So if both Sox and CIN win tomorrow, who gets the better pick and why.

https://southsideshowdown.com/2017/09/30/wh...s-next-manager/ One of the favorites for the Mets

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 30, 2017 -> 09:37 AM) I have always thought if there were no speed guns on scoreboards or on TV screens, the game would be totally different. This is kind of unrelated...but I wish they would take away pitch trax...I would rather just use my own eyes to judge the strike-zone. I know I can just not look at it, but it's just there and kind of hard not to. I would rather they just put it up every once in a while for replay on really questionable calls, rather than having it up on the screen constantly. Personal preference.

QUOTE (ron883 @ Sep 28, 2017 -> 04:27 PM) Sox are going Ohtani Is this just speculation or do you have some sources to confirm this
-
Abreu just obliterated the baseball
-
What a fun finish
-
Did Melky always play with his back pocket hanging out?
-
Apparently Jose Abreu=Keeanu Reeves

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 09:49 PM) When Yoan does something like that homerun, I’m like “Yep, that is Robinson Cano” I love that comparison
-
Outside of the Cubs, the Royals are probably my favorite team to beat.

QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 12:24 PM) I need 0-10 to finish the season, or 1-9 but the only win coming in the last game of the regular season. Your definitely getting one loss with Cover on the mound tomorrow, the other 2 against KC are up in the air. You might get a sweep with Cleveland though.

So sick of all these damn injuries. Was the same stupid thing for 2016 too.

Somebody needs to punch that moron in the face that keeps yelling "WOOOHH"

Peacock's pinpoint accuracy with his fastball his very annoying as an opposing team fan.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 08:58 PM) Going to have to jinx Peacock now . He has a no hitter through 3 It worked! Such a sweet swing by Yoan. I can't wait to see him grow and develop and then just terrorize the league and division in his prime.

Heads up play by Anderson...embarassing for Astros

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 07:21 PM) Absolutely the former. I thought so...just a little misinterpretation going on

Last time the Sox played Houston was in August (feels longer...I honestly thought it was like May or June until i looked it up...) and they swept the Stros. Scored some good runs in that series. Hopefully the success against Houston continues. Also always nice to see the Sox back playing at Minute Maid Park as flashbacks tend to happen there Gio looking to continue his success so far. He's been a pleasant surprise. Also hoping for another good series from TA. So far in Sept he is hitting .429/.438/.619

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 05:49 PM) Keep it positive, please, or at least follow along. We're are simply discussing the "good things" the owner has done for the franchise, as referenced by another poster. Would be better you add to that list and actually contribute to the discussion rather than settling into your own usual repeat mode of belittling posters. I think your comment "such as?" was taken wrongly...were you simply curious as to what the poster thought JR has done well for thre organization or were you implying he has done nothing at all?

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 03:36 PM) Such as? Shall I state the most obvious answer or is it too obvious to even mention

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 17, 2017 -> 03:57 PM) What a horrible game for the Sox. Horrific pitching; no hitting. I'm afraid this is what we will see more often than not for at least 2 more seasons. ....look at what they have done the last 2 week's. Don't judge it by one game.
