  1. Did anyone see that shot of Holland in the dugout? Talk about a guy that looks defeated/depressed...almost feel sorry for the guy (almost)
  2. Wowo...Abreu is the first White Sox player to hit at least 25 homeruns in each of his first 4 seasons...too bad the guy isn't 26 or 27.
  3. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 07:00 PM) I would tell you to watch baseball for more than a month. Touche...haha but... You have to agree that Delmonico has been a very pleasant surprise
  4. What if I told you Nicky Delmonico was a better player than Yoan Moncada?
  5. Nasty slider from Rodon. Pitch count aside, he's been solid since the 2nd inning.
  6. QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 06:32 PM) there's really no "inbetween" with Anderson ABs. He either looks like crap up there without a clue...or he's mashing. He really needs some time away from baseball. I honestly don't think we will see what he is truly capable of until 2019. 2017-18 offseason he takes time to grieve and recollect himself. 2018-19 offseason he develops a rigorous offseason conditioning routine and turns himself around. Idk, just a thought, but he has got a lot of work to do, regardless of how he does it.
  7. "It's a whole lot better than a sacrifice bunt" -Steve Stone on Yolmer's Homer. I love it.
  8. Mauer reminds me of a left handed hitting Konerko a bit. Similar stance. More of a contact guy, but more so he is quietly the face and leader of his organization. Never had any gripes, plays the game how it is supposed to be played, and is very tough. Numbers just back everything up.
  9. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 05:48 PM) He does seem to be getting squeezed a bit, though I'm just following on Game Day. He has on a few but it's not awful. I think he needs to rely on his pure stuff more than nibbling...like he did on that last wipe out slider.
  10. Not a fan of 40 plus pitches in an inning and 2 thirds
  11. Abreu I believe extended his hit streak to 10 games
  12. QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 05:15 PM) Rodon's velocity down again or trying to be Verlander? I'd say first inning
  13. Not sure I've ever seen the park that empty...dayum.
  14. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 11:00 AM) On August 20th, 1965 The Beatles played 2 shows at old Comiskey Park and today the White Sox play 2 games . That makes this the 52nd + 1 day Anniversary of that day . I think there's a giveaway of a Beatles/White Sox cap tonight although I don't see it listed on the promotions page @whitesox.com but have seen it advertised during Sox games. Here is an article of that musically historical day w/ video http://www.avclub.com/article/fifty-years-...hows-chi-224181 The article states the Beatles opened with a cover of the Isley Brothers Twist and Shout . The Isley's made it a hit but it was originally recorded by the Top Notes . However, The Beatles version was almost exactly like the Isley's version . Twist and Shout (Beatles version) was also used in the classic downtown Chicago parade scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off Carlos Rodon pitches game 1 and Carson Fulmer the 2nd game . Rodon has a 2.12 ERA over his last 4 starts w/ 28 K's and 6 BB's in 28 2/3 innings. It will be Fulmer's season debut. I assume if the Sox lose game 1 that I am still responsible for the game 2 thread and will be making a separate thread for that game unless someone informs me otherwise. Cool little nugget of Sox history. Thanks for that. Pretty big 24 hours of pitching going on here. Rodon and Fulmer tonight, Kopech making his AAA debut tonight as well. Giolito tomorrow for the Sox, and I believe Alec Hansen also pitches tomorrow for the Dash. He has been absolutely stellar. Not expecting a lot out of Fulmer tonight as he has largely underwhelmed in AAA this year, but he might surprise. Still obviously a lot of growing and developing to do. Like many , I see him as a future reliever.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 20, 2017 -> 01:26 PM) It's OK to be pissed off and have a post like this. The team you describe would (no hyperbole) by far be the worst in baseball history. It'd be lucky to back into 40 victories. He's venting. Some fans like he and me still are upset we have to go through this right now. Some of us believe the unabashed losing is not going to be helpful to the prospects, either. Hopefully I'm wrong. But you have to admit, the owners do have it made through this popular rebuild. Everytime a salary is dumped, the fans are giddy cause we lose more and also gain can't miss prospects that someday will pay off. It's perfect for owners. They can have the lowest payroll ever, and make record profits and the fans are thrilled cause we lose more. It's really a unique time. Tanking wasn't always popular. When you get past all the details of this whole thing, it really all comes down to two things: patience and hope. Every year is filled with that second ingredient, and that is for every team. This year and next and possibly the year after requires patience for our team. This kind of game isn't for those who need instant gratification all the time. This sport is all about development, no matter what stage of the game you are in. In our case, it's just all about development in the first stages of many careers. And we hope that the majority of them end up performing like they are projected to, with some surprises here and there (e.g. Delmonico...so far anyway).
  16. Just curious...why is everyone so hyped on Gillaspie?
  17. Might be a position player pitcher night
  18. Nice only 9 more to go lol. 2B away from the cycle for Jose
  19. QUOTE (Soha @ Aug 19, 2017 -> 10:47 PM) That was odd. Wasn't even close. Yeah that's 2 calls overturned in the same inning...on the same umpire...on calls he made against the away team losing by a ton...like really? Lol
