These pitchers...thats what happens when you trade everyone away I guess. They better win 100 games in 3 years after making us go through this s*** lol.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 19, 2017 -> 10:35 PM) Has at the very least one more season to prove what he can do, and likely gets another year after that no matter what. He's shown a disturbing lack of improvement this year, which isn't shocking in this organization Yeah the regression is not surprising considering...he was one of "those" draftees...wonder if there is a good shortstop the Sox can sign in the first round next summer. How long is Anderson's contract for?
-
You know I might just be speaking out of emotion here, but I don't think Anderson belongs on a major league roster, let alone a starter. As a hitter, he has some pop but no patience, and it seems like he doesn't have a plan going up to the plate. It's the same with every pitcher. He also has hardly any pitch recognition. He just went on a hot streak, which was nice, but it seems like it's over. His defense, we've all seen it. He's not a shortstop. Maybe a second baseman.

With ReyLo hurt that probably means Holland stays as the starter for now. That sucks. How have we been so unlucky with horrible starters? Covey, Shields, Holland, Danks. Probably others. Those last 3 actually were considered aces at one point in their careers.

So I watched the first 2 innings and Perez was at like 30 pitches in the 1st. How the hell has he lasted to the 6th with only 89 pitches??

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 19, 2017 -> 10:20 PM) Anderson's defense sucks. 25th error on the season. That's bad. Like, ungodly awful.

Your 2018 Chicago White Sox Opening Day Lineup

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 19, 2017 -> 08:02 PM) What about our rotation? If Rodon, Lopez and Kopech are ready, playing devil's advocate, why can't we build a real pitching staff around those guys and contend? The basis of this thread is we're supposed to hit next year. I will never understand why the rebuild requires us to win 65 games two years in a row minimum when a lot of these guys are "ready." Sign two veteran pitchers for 10 mill a year apiece like the Royals always do, get a few bullpen guys and uh, win?? Is it that hard to sniff .500 in this crap division? I know, it is. If this post angers you, please ignore it. Not meant to argue. I "get it." We're in a rebuild. We're supposed to lose. I'm just playing along with the first post that says we should hit next year. Well, 3 key pieces of the future are leading our rotation ... but they have to suck first before getting good? Modern baseball really fatigues me. If I'm running a team I never do not consider the possibility of winning. Despite what others say, I think we will hit and score some runs, maybe 8th or 9th in the league in runs scored. But the pitching will be inevitably what will hurt us, especially if they keep guys like Covey and sign another veteran like Holland or Shields to plug holes. I do hope they sign MiGo again. But to respond specifically to what you say, I don't think a lot of these guys are "ready." A lot of adjustments need to take place as the league adjusts to them. The main thing I am.looking for in the rebuild is to see how specific players respond to adversity. In baseball, you will fail. How do players take that failure? Talent is one thing, but adjusting is another. -
QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Aug 19, 2017 -> 09:58 PM) Never? Yeah I'm pretty sure he was like the 1st or 2nf starter in that Rays rotation

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 19, 2017 -> 11:29 AM) Holland vs Perez If I have to start a game thread Sunday, so help me... That's how I felt when they won those 4 straight with the Houston series lol

Not gonna lie guys, I think the Sox are gonna score some runs next year. This is exciting to think about right now because the offense is hitting, but what I think is so unique about this bunch is they have a good balance of different tools they can choose from. They have the ability to hit homeruns, but they also have speed and quite a bit of contact guys. They also have a good mix of righties and lefties. Renteria can do a lot with this bunch. Check out this potential starting lineup... 1. Leury Garcia LF 2. Moncada .....2B 3. Abreu .........1B/DH 4. Avi .............RF 5. Delmonico....DH/1B (He can learn 1B) 6. Davidson......3B 7. Anderson......SS 8. Smith/Omar...C 9. Engel............CF Lots of balance in that lineup. If we can get August 2017 Tim Anderson to play for 3-4 months out of the year, and if all those players put up offensive numbers like they have been to go along with the tools they are known for, then this team will be fun to watch, even if the bullpen blows all the games. Delmonico is also still a big question mark, but I'm let's ride that horse as far as it will take us. He is hitting like a 3-5 hitter right now. Power lefty bat? Yes please!! Bench= Yolmer (I see him platooning quite often with Davidson), Smith/Omar, Outfielder (Hansen?), and Saladino. What are your thoughts?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 19, 2017 -> 11:22 AM) No official word, but I think he is here for the rest of 2017 at least. Sweet. I wonder if they will go to a 6 man rotation then, or have Gio (Or Holland) work out of the pen. I guess it probably depends on Holland's start today. I like the idea of our future rotation getting to know each other now. With Rodon here, he is essentially leading the pack as far as experience/tenure goes with the Sox, but with him getting to know ReyLo and Gio right now, they can develop that chemistry now instead of later, which is cool. With Kopech at AAA, if he forces the issue next year (which I actually fully expect him to), I wouldn't be surprised to see him come up in June. I could see a rotation next year in July or August consisting of (in no particular ranking order), Giolito, Rodon, Kopech, Lopez, and Shields. I would actually like to see them sign MiGo to another 1 year deal, and have him be in Kopech's spot, then when Kopech is ready, place MiGo or Shields in the pen. All of this of course depends on injuries and performance. Coop has got to be ecstatic to work with all of these promising, developing young starting arms, rather than a bunch of solidified vets.

Soooo is he up here for good or just monday

Eloy Jimenez with 3 hits so far in his 2nd game in Birmingham. Dude is just destroying the minor leagues. If he can put this kind of production up in the majors...he Will be a superstar. That would be the biggest "win" of Q's Sox career

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 09:48 PM) I wonder what Rally Crede is doing these days That dude got chunky

Leury has developed into a very fine player

I've noticed a trend...Engel doesn't recognize sliders very well.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 08:50 PM) Engel has played a great CF. He may surprise Yeah the thing about this rebuild, a couple of the guys we think will be major parts of the future will flounder, but some others will surprise.

Oops

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 03:51 PM) https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/898268049723215873 Probably got to their hotel at 6am. For a rebuilding team , that lineup 1-5 is pretty solid, and the rest isn't horrible either.
