  1. I always just called it the Sox Park... U.S. Cellular Field is too long to say, and The Cell just sounded depressing. I was too young when it was call Comiskey so that name never meant anything to me, so the Sox Park it is haha.
  2. It's good to see the Sox actually doing what they should do against a guy with a sub-8 ERA
  3. Nice start to the game there by Eaton. No one at the park, Sox will score 10. Friday night, ballpark filled, Sox barely get 5 hits haha.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 23, 2016 -> 08:19 PM) https://mobile.twitter.com/WhiteSoxUmp/stat...240968969707520 Well, Narvaez did have to reach across the plate to catch it, but not sure why that is called a ball just because of the reach over.
  5. I hate these 2 game series. They make no sense IMO. 2 against PHI and then 2 more against them later in the year...what's the point? Why not just have them play one four game series? With the Sox stupid April schedule with almost no off-days and a ton of away games including the West Coast, and with the Cubs series being 4 games Mon-Thu instead of two 3-game weekend series...it's just dumb if you ask me. Who makes these schedules?
  6. Almost blew it. At least Q got the win, good for him. He deserves to be a 20 game winner.
  7. I'm smelling a David Robertson blown save and another no-decision for Q.
  8. QUOTE (ventura_abreu @ Aug 18, 2016 -> 09:46 PM) I just read that Zach Birdi will be called up to the White Sox after making one more appearance. Where did you read it...a link would be nice
  9. This has been a great game to watch. Rodon pitched well, no walks (!!!), the offense has been good enough (so far), defense has been solid. It's nice to see the Sox give Cleveland a hard time.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 18, 2016 -> 07:58 PM) Sounds like Lawrie is out for year? Probably...aggravated a quad supposedly
  11. Enjoy the game, everyone who is still watching.
  12. Anyone else see the bubble that Eaton was blowing as he hit the homerun?
  13. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 10:25 PM) or build around Yeah, seriously. I hate this "trade away our best players" talk. Q, Sale and Eaton are why I watch games honestly.
  14. Btw I LOVE the way Morneau hits. He scores runs and gives this team so many chances. He just took that outside change up from Carrasco and went with it the other way, getting a double and putting Abreu at 3rd. Our former DHs would have struck out trying to pull it, and there as I type this our run-producer in Todd Frazier (who should be producing more than he has), gets them in. THAT is how the game is supposed to be played offensively.
  15. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 07:43 PM) You seriously think we are 1 player away? It's going to take Ramos, Cespedes, Morneau and even then it's not a guarantee we take the division. Nope, I think they need a lot more, but seeing what they did last offseason, I don't think they will be making huge splashes, so I think my wishlist of Ramos and Morneau is reasonable enough for them to at least make it interesting next year. A lineup of Eaton, Ramos, Cabrera, Abreu, Morneau, Frazier, Lawrie, (centerfielder...Gomez?), and Anderson is a good lineup, when these players are all healthy. Just think what this lineup could do if Frazier and Abreu both bounce back? And it IS possible for that to happen. Every team has holes in their roster, and if the Sox do sign Ramos and Morneau, having just 1 hole in center (or right, depending on where they put Eaton), would be fine by me. And sorry, while Cespedes would obviously be nice, I doubt he is going to want to come to this team. I think if they upgrade at those 2 positions with the players I mentioned, as well as fixing up the bullpen a bit (by releasing Albers and gaining back Putnam and Petricka, hopefully they will perform like they did before injuries, and adding maybe 1 or 2 arms), I think they have a strong shot at winning a wild-card spot at least. I know, I'm delusional, but that's my thoughts. Their bench is solid when their core is healthy, with Saladino, Shuck, a backup catcher and another back-up outfielder/infielder. We all know how good the starting pitching is.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 04:34 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 33m33 minutes ago #WhiteSox for 8/17: Eaton 9, Saladino 4, Cabrera 7, Abreu 3, Morneau DH, Frazier 5, Shuck 8, Anderson 6, Navarro 2. Ranaudo 1. 1 retweet 0 likes Looking at this lineup, I think that if the Spx are going all in again next year, they NEED to upgrade at catcher and obviously offense...I think Wilson Ramos of the Nationals should be their biggest free agent target as he provides an excellent upgrade with both of those, and I also hope Morneau is resigned (if they don't get Encarnacion or Trumbo which likely will not happen). That's my wish list, Ramos and Morneau.
  17. This game right here shows why the White Sox are in 4th place and Cleveland is in 1st. I almost wish Quintana played for a team like Boston so he could get the run support he deserves. He's my favorite player and I hope he never leaves, but Lord Almighty have mercy on him.
  18. Hawk just made a good point...the Sox have played 43 one-run games (most in MLB according to Hawk), they are 20-23 in those games also according to him...how many times have the Sox beat themselves in those games? (As Frazier, our "run producer" gets the golden sombrero striking out for the 4th time in the game on 3 fastballs right down the middle).
  19. With Cabrera up next, and with Rodney pitching, McEwing should have held him, especially with such a short lead. I mean, it did take a perfect throw to get him but still, i think he should've kept him at 3rd and let Melky hit with bases loaded
  20. Didn't know the plate block rule was altered...so that dropped scoop by Abreu basically blew the game then.
  21. Frazier just loooves swinging at that down and away slider
  22. Sale gonna blow a gasket because Robin didn't let him finish the inning...and put Turner in hahahaha
