  1. There's some good pitching right there.
  2. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 08:49 PM) Sox have four hits in two innings and NO RUNS I've noticed that a lot of the games in which they have lost recently, they have actually had more hits than their opponent but no runs to show for it. The Sox could have 8 hits and zero to two runs while the other team might have 4 or 5 hits and three to five runs.
  3. Story of the season. Runners in scoring position and the first batter pops out, setting up the double play or the other two just strike out or pop out. Here's to hoping I'm wrong though...
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 08:30 PM) Abreu continues to make no adjustments He used to be able to pull his hands in on those inside fastballs and drive them in the gaps or over the walls. That's part of what made him such a great hitter. No idea why he hasn't been able to do that this year. Still can't believe he only has 11 home runs in late July.
  5. If I am completely honest, I like this team. I do. I like the energy that Adam Eaton and Chris Sale bring. I like the personalities of Todd Frazier, Dioner Navarro, Brett Lawrie, and Melky Cabrera. I love the competitiveness in Sale and Quintana. I like the potential "difference-maker" in rookie Tim Anderson, and the bright future he brings. I like the toughness of Jose Abreu. I also thought we had one of the top 5 pens in the league until those injuries happened. I like this team, I really do. This team has the potential to win. They have the talent, they have (or, at least, had) the drive, they WANT to win. BUT, I think what is holding them back is all mental, and it's like I could feel it right through the t.v. screen. When they went up against Seattle today 3-0, 4-0, I just felt that somehow, someway, the Sox were going to blow it late. It's like an aura that the team gives off, and I think that in the back of their minds lingers that thought "what if we lose this game?" That is not a winner's mentality. That is the mentality of a team that gives up. You just know that Frazier is either going to hit a homerun, or he's going to foul off a couple fastballs down the middle to get it 0-2 before he strikes out on a breaking ball in the dirt. You just know (or at least have the feeling) that Abreu is going to either get jammed on an inside fastball or, like Todd, strike out on a breaking ball away. There's just that "feeling" that you know something negative is going to happen. I remember that feeling back in '05 where you just had a feeling that the Sox were somehow going to win the game, even if they were losing late. Now it's complete opposite. If the team falls behind early (which oftentimes happens), you just know they most likely will not come back (take the recent Anaheim series for example), or if they are winning early you feel they are going to blow it late (take the 2 games in the Seattle series where they blew leads, a series they should have easily swept, or that KC series where they blew leads in all 3 games). Also, it always seems that when the pitching is doing great, the offense is horrendous, and when the offense is actually scoring some runs, the pitching blows it (esp. the bullpen). It really is all mental with this team, from what I see. The more games they drop (especially like the ones today) the less of a chance they have at even contending for that WC spot. I think really this all boils down to one thing: LEADERSHIP, among the players and among the coaches. They need a kick in the ass. Just my take on what is going on. I love the Sox, I really do. I still look forward to games, hoping they will go on a magical 10 game win streak and never look back, but that is quickly fading away. Who knows, maybe they will actually take 3 out of 4 from Detroit and sweep the Cubs next week....HAHA jk.
  6. A nice 10 game win streak would put the team right in the thick of it...that would be so nice.
  7. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 04:50 PM) Four years. The last four years. Well, they had no expectations in 2013 or 2014. They did last year and this year with nothing to show for it...
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 04:42 PM) Flat iutvownef sounds terrible Was thinking the same thing lmao
  9. I mean, with Turner on the mound and the Sox hitting the way they are, they basically gave this game away. 2 rolling breaking balls to Trout and Pujols wtf do you think is going to happen.
  10. QUOTE (chisoxt @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 04:38 PM) Alberts numbers are very Todd Frasier like Except Albert actually hits ropes. Frazier hits rainbows.
  11. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 04:27 PM) Back in the day, when you needed to get a can of corn down from the top shelf at the local grocery store the owner/employee would knock the can down with a wooden pole and catch it in his apron as it fell. Interesting, good to know. Thanks!
  12. Frazier looks at the 86 mph fastball right down the damn middle.
  13. Serious question. I've been a Sox fan since '04 and I still don't know why Hawk says "can of corn" for easy flyballs. Anyone know why he says it/what it means?
  14. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 04:19 PM) He just missed it. He never gets in power in his swings though. Shuck is actually decent. I don't mind him being our centerfielder. Would much rather have him in the lineup than Avi.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 04:17 PM) Every lefty has reached Shuck
  16. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 04:01 PM) And Morneau. Nah, not yet. Yesterday he was up with the tying run at 3rd and struck out. He needs to prove himself. But when you have a struggling Frazier hitting behind you that's a little hard to do. I would hit Morneau in front of Frazier.
  17. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 03:57 PM) Melky is good. He is the best hitter on this team. He is the only one I trust to be hitting in scoring situations. Him and maybe Eaton.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 03:53 PM) Turner is freaking terrible. What a stupid decision by a horrible front office 3 straight rockets and a walk. Keep getting behind hitters, that's what you're going to get.
  19. That about sums up the White Sox in that one play right there.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 03:43 PM) Wtf happened to Anderson over the break? His swing looks awful right now. Needs to be moved down in the order IMO Eventually I think he will be. I like Eaton first and Anderson second, personally, even if the lefty/righty thing is messed with a bit.
