Nationals (Scherzer) @ Sox (Shields)

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 08:56 PM) Shields has been on the mound so long that Scherzer might have to throw a side session just to stay warmed up. 67 pitches so far in 2 innings... -

Some explain to me how a team starts off like the Sox did then just collapses out of nowhere. -

Shield's pitches aren't all that bad. It's just, Washington's hitting is better. They did their homework. -

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 08:11 PM) Just threw a pretty damn good 2 seamer. That fastball had beautiful movement to it -
So tired of wasted opportunities. I consider myself an optimist, but this is just dreadful. They don't have anything going for them, or if they do it's immediately stripped away. Is just not fun to watch.
-
Can they actually get something out of this inning? Possibly put some pressure on?
-
I have never seen a team do a complete 180 like this so quickly. How did they go from being one of the best teams in the entire league, to being the worst? How does that happen
-
Guy to watch our for this series: Daniel Murphy. Dude is hitting...wait for it, .384...leading the league in average comfortably as he is a whopping 37 points higher than the next guy.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 01:14 PM) Hopefully Shields walking into the clubhouse today and being home will give them the shot in the arm they need. They care. And if you look at the injuries going on in the division, the Sox should be able to get right back in there. The team I'm most worried about going on a run now is the Tigers. That lineup can be potent and Michael Fulmer is showing why he's a good pitcher. Yeah, the Tigers do have a strong lineup, but they are streaky. They win a bunch in a row then lose a bunch in a row. I'm more worried about Cleveland. They have some great pitching and can hit when they need to. They are on a tear right now, but they will cool off soon enough.

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 12:21 PM) Wanna go watch them get swept by a divisional opponent because they dont really care again? You really need more proof this team is mentally weak? I was at the game in Detroit on Sunday, and paid close attention to players reactions and what not when things didn't go their way. Trust me, they care. Judging from a lot of the players reactions, its not that they have given up, but they are frustrated. Once things start bouncing their way, they will get back on track. This division is very fragile, season isn't over by a long shot. Yes, they do need to be playing better baseball. With the track record from a lot of these players, I think it will come, only a matter of time, and time is something they have right now.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 07:24 PM) I don't know if that is really on him either. He is obviously kind of a laid back guy. Other posters want him screaming and publicly humiliating players when they fail. That would make things worse. They were getting the big hits earlier, and got some big hits in KC onky to blow the leads. Ever since then, offense has been a problem. Melky being gone didn't help, but it isn't like that cost them 3 runs a game. I think they will get rolling again, but it is no secret they need another hitter preferably left handed, but anyone that can provide consistent offense would really help. It seems almost every player goes through so many stretches where they have no business grabbing a bat. It is almost as fascinating as frustrating. It seems the team is full of really streaky guys. Those with the louder personalities typically are the ones that are heard the most because, well, they are loud, and want people to do loud things. Not everyone is loud, however.

Hopefully this ship can be righted at home, but these Nats are 34-23 in first place. Going to be a tough homestand with KC coming this weekend, then Detroit again right after that. Pitching Matchup: Ross (5-4, 2.37) vs Latos (6-1, 4.02) Lets start this homestand off on a high note with a win tonight.

This team beats itself...going to the game tomorrow in Detroit. I really hope the offense wakes up tomorrow, but seeing that Quintana is pitching, I may be in for a Detroit win 1-0 -

This team badly needs a high scoring game with at least 7 earned runs. I really would like to see these bats come to life. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 10:20 AM) http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/30743/trayce-thompson Thompson sporting a career OPS (roughly 40-45% of one season's worth of AB's) of over 900 still. Exited yesterday's game with a stiff back. Marcus Semien at 759 with 11 homers and 25 RBI's. Trayce, for his part, already has 9 homers. http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=m...tching/2016/ALL Montas is close to being able to contribute as a reliever at the big league level. Those two have combined for 20 homers, the entire White Sox team other than Frazier is only at 32. I REALLY wish they would have given up on Avi and kept Trayce. He obviously had a lot more potential, a lot more upside, and a lot more fire than Avi does/did. I think what we have seen from Avi is what we will get, I hope I am wrong, but he seems like another Dayan Viciedo. -

QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 09:21 AM) I can't open the link, but this is a common comparison. We're in the "lightning in a bottle" mode, where we reload every year. It just doesn't work when you can't draft everyday big leaguers. Regardless of what you think about a "full rebuild", the White Sox have to draft positional talent better or none of this is going to work. Here is the full address link. Should work now: http://www.southsidesox.com/2016/6/3/11850...adder-white-sox I agree, though. They do need to draft better positional talent. I think Tim Anderson will be the first successful home-grown player in a while, that is, if they don't trade him away. -

http://www.southsidesox.com/2016/6/3/11850...adder-white-sox Interesting comparison between how bad the Padres have been compared to the Sox, despite both teams trying to compete by going all in over the last few years.

If the Sox were ever going to win against Detroit, today would be the day with that pitching matchup. Time to start hitting the ball!!!!! -
Going to the game on Sunday...went to a Sox game last year in Detroit and Quintana pitched...not a very good game for him. Cespedes hit a slam in that game. Hopefully this game with Q is different. Tigers are struggling. Beat the kitties while they are down!! I'm hoping for a sweep and some good offense in this series (at least in the final 2 games when Zimmerman isn't pitching, especially if they can get to that Tiger pen early).
