4/16 Game thread: @ Tampa Bay, 5:10pm, WGN/WLS

It's honestly painful watching Danks pitch. I kind of feel bad for him -
Internal alternatives to Avisail Garcia
Ducksnort replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (VAfan @ Apr 13, 2016 -> 06:31 PM) As much as everyone wants to wail on Avisail, I think you have to take his slow start in context of how other players on the team are hitting. Garcia's OPS of .530 is actually AHEAD of Brett Lawrie .516 and Jimmy Rollins .505, and part time guys Navarro and Shuck, and he's not far behind Alex Avila. Only 2 hitters are excelling for the Sox -- Eaton and Abreu. EVERYONE ELSE is below where we would hope they will be on the season. Yeah...the main reason we have been winning these games is because of our pitching, and these teams aren't very good (MIN, OAK). I'm expecting a sweep today, if not I'll take the series win. I'm expecting a series win versus Tampa, and we will see how they fair when the Angels come to town after the TB series. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 04:24 PM) Can Hawk never come back? This is such a better broadcast. I would guess next year he probably won't be back if he is only doing road games this year. The way Benetti is broadcasting...I think they are pretty confident they found his replacement. -

Well time to hit the ball now...don't need to prolong our bullpen arms in extra innings. -

Avi's heads-up baserunning there just made up for him getting picked off at first yesterday. Got a run out of it. Now that's how you play offense...not just about hitting the ball. -
Maybe bc it's Q's first start, but he seems like he's dancing around the plate. I'd like to see more first pitch strikes as the season gets older. But, he's winning so not a big deal. I'd like to see Q get the 14-15 wins that he actually deserves by the end of the season.

Todd Frazier 3 run homer baby! Nice to see it come on an 0-2 count with 2 outs and 2 men on. Low breaking ball I believe. Maybe hung it.

Going to the game next Saturday when Sale (hopefully) pitches his 2nd start against Cleveland. Wanted to go to opening day, but it's probably Danks or Latos pitching and I don't feel like sitting in the nosebleeds when it's in the 40s when I could get tickets for almost the same price on the lower level the next day with Sale pitching lol.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 26, 2016 -> 03:52 PM) Benetti certainly brings out the weird in Steve Stone Yeah...Stone just asked Benetti if he could chew on his arm because Benetti didn't think to ask him if he wanted any of his meatball sandwich...

Rodon is scaring me

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Mar 25, 2016 -> 07:55 AM) My prediction for the opening day roster is the same as it is in the other Opening Day Roster Prediction Thread. My bad didn't see it

Here's my prediction for the opening day roster: 2016 Chicago White Sox Starting Lineup (vs. RHP) 1) Adam Eaton (RF) (L) 2) Jimmy Rollins (SS) (S) 3) Jose Abreu (1B) ® 4) Todd Frazier (3B) ® 5) Melky Cabrera (LF) (S) 6) Avisail Garcia (DH) ® 7) Brett Lawrie (2B) ® 8) Austin Jackson (CF) ® 9) Alex Avila © (L) 2016 Chicago White Sox Bench 1) Dioner Navarro © (S) 2) Tyler Saladino (IF) ® 3) Carlos Sanchez (IF) (S) 4) J.B. Shuck (OF) (L) 2016 Chicago White Sox Starting Rotation 1) Chris Sale (L) 2) Jose Quintana (L) 3) Carlos Rodon (L) 4) Matt Latos ® 5) John Danks (L) 2016 Chicago White Sox Bullpen 1) Erik Johnson ® (LRP) 2) Zach Duke (L) (MRP/SU) 3) Matt Albers ® (MRP/SU) 4) Jake Petricka ® (MRP/SU) 5) Nate Jones ® (MRP/SU) 6) Zach Putnam ® (MRP/SU) 7) David Robertson ® (CL) What do you guys think? I think this is a realistic roster prediction. I might take out Erik Johnson and throw in Dan Jennings for an extra lefty arm, but then there is no true long reliever. Maybe swap out Carlos Sanchez? Not sure, but I think him and Shuck are shoe-ins for the last two bench spots. I also think we will see Saladino start at SS more with lefties. I like the combo of Eaton and Rollins up top as table setters. I see a lot of bunting and hit and runs going on with those two.

Woah...scary double play there

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 20, 2016 -> 04:12 PM) Sands just drilled a HR off Manaea. Davidson follows with a single. Any chance Sands makes the roster? Seems like Sands has the better bat in my opinion, but Ishikawa has the left-handed advantage.
-
Like the Saladino bunt. Let's hope this smart baseball continues into the season.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 19, 2016 -> 05:12 PM) If Drake was still with the team, he wouldn't have fallen. Please, don't bring it up. We need it to go away, not linger.
