  1. In another thread someone linked TLR to Sandusky and Paterno.
  2. Yet Bauer has 17.5 career WAR and Lynn 24. Bauer looks great in addition to Lynn. But judging each one together, it is relatively close.
  3. It's not about the DUI. People are bent out of shape in general. If it wasn't the DUI it would be TLR advocating child abuse.
  4. The difference in Eaton then and now is defense for the most part. If he can get some of that defense back he will be fine. But believe me Ray Ray, I am on your side about money being spent. That is a different argument to make though. If Eaton can give us two WAR we will need to take it as it is clear we aren't spending.
  5. A team trying to win a title badly gave up Gio and Dunning for said below average starter.
  6. I'll take these numbers from my 8th or 9th best player in the lineup. If this guy was a top 5 hitter I'd be really concerned. Those numbers and solid defense may get you a 2+ WAR player.
  7. Yeah but McCann tanked to finish 2019 so the position needed to be upgraded. Let's not act like most people wouldn't put Grandal as a top 5 catcher still. The FO also didn't know that Covid was going to be a thing that limits spending even more than it is.
  8. I'm mean they could have offered him at the all star game for all we know. Once the season ended we clearly went for Grandal which is still the right choice.
  9. And we don't know if the Sox offered him an extension in the 8yr per range that was declined. McCann bet on himself and won.
  10. The Sox made it clear they signed Eaton because of his talent and his attitude. Eaton has talent if he is healthy and putting it together. His attitude that he brings to the table was important to them. It is a big gamble for sure, but it was their plan.
  11. I'd re-sign for being a cheap bastard or working in a cheap organization. If I were forced to stay, I'd 1. Give Liam 13m 2. Give Q 10.5 3. Give Tommy LaStella 6.5 or Schwarber 6 if he will take it.
  12. I'm not sure about this. The AL East would have gotten two. The Astros would have figured things out and the A's most likely would have been there til the end. It may have been between us and Cleveland.
  13. I think what he meant was in a normal 162 game season the Rays, Twins, and Astros would have probably won their divisions. The Yankees/Indians/A's/Sox would have fought for wild cards with the Sox probably being the odd team out. This of course is no certainty, but it could have been the case.
  14. Dan is correct. He said that we won't sign anybody to a deal longer than 1 year, but did not say Hendriks was a no go technically. But at least Beef is getting messages from radio celebs to boost his ego and Twitter stats.
  15. We shall see. The big boys will get paid but we shall see about the middle class.
  16. If this source is correct, then this means that offer to Machado was a dog and pony show. Or the contract to Wheeler was designed so that he wouldn't take it. Jason Heyward's contract was huge, but he wasn't that good to receive that offer.
  17. Teams aren't spending money and dragging things out to suppress contracts. So if Liam gets 3 and 40 he probably takes it to avoid getting 3 and 27 next month.
  18. The source may be right, because if we offer Liam 3 and 40 he probably takes it. There is a reason this thing is stalling.
  19. Not so fast. Hahn did say stay tuned, so something will happen.
  20. Would Quintana be the first ever female to play in the big leagues?
  21. Well there are probably about 100k Sox fans/reporters that are online in some capacity on social media, or that call into talk shows. Companies use samples of people all the time (surveys),to guage public opinion.
