Sox sign Adam Eaton 1 year, $7m plus option
SonofaRoache replied to Greek-konerko's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That should be the plan and I think he will be. -

That's true, but I think Eaton will bounce back to 2019 form. That is okay if money is spent elsewhere. But will money be spent is the question. -

With the cash we are spending we should be able to sign Bauer and Hendriks. -
Sox acquire Lance Lynn for Dane Dunning and Avery Weems

The Twins fans seem to think they will trade for a good starter and sign bullpen help. But again, it is very close between the two of us. But as the division winner two years running they get the nod from me until we make a few more moves. -

The Astros can pitch but I am giving them the benefit of the doubt because they've been a top dog for years now. They will improve their team before the start of the season as needed. But like I said, if we make three more solid moves we pass them for sure. -
Passan: Springer to White Sox not happening

Joc is better than Eaton if platooned correctly. Joc should be second on our list after Springer. -

They will take care of that. -

Its close but I'm not picking us over the Rays or Astros yet. We are real close though. The difference between the Rays, Astros, Twins, Us, and Cleveland is very small at this point. Some teams are rated where they are because of elite pitching. Some teams have a good mix of both, but not elite at either. We have an elite offense with some question marks, but still elite. And then 3 good pitchers and 2 question mark spots in our rotation. Our bullpen isn't up to the task yet for a serious playoff contender either, YET. -

The Twins and Indians are better until we figure out rotation spot 4 and bring in a RF and top bullpen piece. That may happen this week and then we pass them. Rays and Yankees are for sure better for different reasons. If we make the additions I suggested, and I think we will, we become an AL favorite for sure. If we sign Springer or Bauer, we are the favorite. -

Joc Pederson: How long will he be a future White Sox?
SonofaRoache replied to Y2Jimmy0's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Fair points here. Out of all of the guys on the FA market he'd be my second choice. I just want to be talked into not thinking he will be the next man to come here and fail miserably. -

If he hit that with us we'd be doing cartwheels. -

Option A makes you the AL favorite the next three seasons. And there wouldn't be a need to add at the trade deadline anything more than cosmetic pieces. Option A also significantly improves outfield defense. Late in games you could move Eloy to DH and have an outfield of Engel, Robert, and Heyward. -
Joc Pederson: How long will he be a future White Sox?
SonofaRoache replied to Y2Jimmy0's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Joc isn't a loser or anything, but these types of questions need answers. If it were a one year fluke I'm open to hearing an argument for that. But the fact that he is impossible to play against lefties and saw a decline last year is concerning. I love his power and energy/excitement and think thay would add a lot to the bottom of our order. -

The numbers lined up with the argument. Joc is a fastball guy and we should be nervous about that. This is exactly the guy that comes here and will get a lot of junk and struggle. -

SonofaRoache replied to Y2Jimmy0's topic in Pale Hose Talk
An article I read yesterday said Joc only hits fastballs. The premise of his decline last year was that pitchers three him more change ups, which apparently he can't hit, mixed in with breaking balls. I was concerned with this info. -
It's not the player, it's the process
SonofaRoache replied to Look at Ray Ray Run's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is not necessarily true. If our core works out we can stretch this thing to 8 years of competing if we do it right. We won't win it all every year, but our hats can be in the ring. -

I'm gonna have to agree with this. I'd like this more if we sign a big fish as well in Bauer or Springer. I don't like half assing the rebuild in any way. They worked hard to get here so they should finish it strong and let the cards fall where they may. You can't get cheap and dumb now. -

I am torn on this. I would have liked to add another nice piece on our end and gotten a better deal longer term. I am also okay with Lynn for 3 years as he'd be a very good number 3 on a winning team. But this being said, if Lynn is your guy there is no reason you can't add Springer or Bauer. -
You traded a solid piece for him so give him another two years with a team option for year 3.

I like the pitcher, I don't like sending Dunning away for a guy with one year left and is older. But again, Lynn is a solid number 2. -

Do people actually believe this stuff after all of the football pull backs recently? What are we like 4 for 38?
