The day of Hahn's interview it came out that TLR was the front runner by the Sox mouth piece. At that point players had to know it was a legit thing. 2 weeks ago most fans figured TLR was a serious candidate even if we believed he wouldn't get the job. At that point the players should have taken a stand if they didn't want him.
-
The players have known for 3 weeks TLR was a possibility. We all knew that. That was the time to band together.

I believe at some point Kenny Williams will talk to the players and calm any disgruntled guys down. I have a hard time believing Kenny wasn't on board with this to a degree. He may have been against it at first, but warmed up to it after talking to TLR and JR. No way TLR is hired if Kenny voiced a strong opinion about it. Hahn may have been overruled, but Kenny wouldn't be when race is a big issue here. .

I preferred Bochy and Hinch, but TLR is gonna win a lot of games the next few years. He knows what he is doing. People will be very surprised with how well he does.
-
He is inaccurate downfield and has been since college. Even completed passes are poorly located. His mid range is good and he can extend plays with his legs. Good qb but not as great as people think. He gets a ton of stats late in games/garbage time. And I'd take the following Qbs over him right now. Mahommes Brady Wilson Rodgers Dak Jackson Brees Josh Allen Goff Big Ben
-
Watson is good but overrated. Severe accuracy issues down the field and is no longer bailed out by Hopkins. He is a second tier QB at best in the NFL. But when healhy, the Texans have won division championships.

Baseball coach just needs to make good calls during game. Football is about having a good quarterback regardless of coach.
-
Yeah but AJ Hinch ain't winning shit in Detroit.
-
Tony and Hahn said he turned down the other interested teams. Maybe Larussa wanted the process to finish quickly.
-
They probably asked them not to speak until he talks to them. They don't want guys getting into twitter fights with fans. And they also want to clear the air after emotions have settled.
-
My official order is Bochy Hinch TLR Based on true options. TLR and Hahn both said he wad other job opportunities and turned them down. So clearly this was an opportunity they felt they needed to take. Hahn wasn't nearly as mad as people made it out to be. He clearly wanted another guy but fell in line because TLR is a great manager. I think Kenny wanted TLR as well, so the racial aspect was alleviated.
-
I voted for Larussa to piss people off even more.
-
Good point. TLR hasn't but did our FO?
-
That was my thought. I'm sure deep inside Tony didn't care for it.

How much can you really apply analytics without using your gut during the game? Most of the good from it happens before the game getting the team in the best position to win. He is really good using his bullpen, hit and running, having guys steal bases, and defensive alignments.
-
Jose Bautista bat flip. Watching your home run for several seconds at home plate. Staring down the pitcher after a homer.
-
And go where? He has a high paying job and has been viewed as a failure for most of his time in charge here. If the ship fails, he keeps his job because he didn't hire the coach. He will not be in a better situation anywhere else for the next 7 years.
-
Why even watch the press conference then? No matter what he says people are gonna complain. If what he is saying is true, and i'll take him at his word, he will be much more progressive on the field than we thought. That is a good thing. He is here and nothing anyone can do about it. All we can do is hope our concerns are alleviated.
-
You are very smart. Let's be real here though, he is right to a degree. Analytics are very important but we need a guy who can say, "wait a minute, in this moment, a gut decision makes sense." For instance, you have to take into account if a pitcher is tired or frustrated. Is a player likely to get hurt playing defense poorly. A guy may hit a pitcher well in his career, but is he in a big slump now?
-
Having fun with it and not just simply rubbing it in.
-
Another negative of mine answered. We will see if he means it.
-
People are mad and will only care about agendas. I've stated several times I am concerned about his stance regarding kneeling, but also that he needs to address it and change it. He has done both, so I move on.
-
So everything he says against the Sox fan agenda is spin, but when it fits the agenda it is truth. Hahn is being honest. He said he didn't expect Larussa a few weeks back. He may not even have liked the hire over Hinch. But he is right that this team can win championships with TLR.

It's going to be awesome watching this fanbase eat crow about the results. The only negative reaction that is valid is his political views and how it meshes with our roster. Everything else is bunk.
-
No you won't. Our roster will be complete, so there won't be a need to move people around. RF is the last glaring need in our lineup. And possibly DH until Vaughn is ready a few weeks into the year.
