  1. Yeah but we won't be signing Bauer long term anyway at top dollar. He would get a one year deal to give us time to sort out Kopech, Cease, Dunning, and Stiever.
  2. Maybe next year but not moving forward. Bauer will probably only get a one year deal from us. Hinch plus Stroman for 4 years is worth more than a lesser manager plus Bauer. Especially if said manager will coach you out of the playoffs. Also signing Hinch may help you get Springer.
  3. It does matter, but I think we can all agree that what he did was wrong. But we signed 3 cheaters last offseason alone. And yes I think DK knew about what was going on and probably encouraged it as the leader of that team. I also think Yasmani and EE cheated. This being said, Hinch deserves and will get a shot to manage again. Cheating doesn't stop people from playing, it stops them from going to the HOF. Hinch would be a distraction for a few weeks next season then the story will get stale until we play Houston the first few times and the Dodgers the first time. I don't believe signing him would lack integrity in the least bit. I don't like what he did, but cheating is a part of baseball.
  4. I agree with you. Right after we clinched a playoff spot, Hahn said that Ricky deserves to be a part of the winning and celebration. I figured he'd be back for sure. Then, the last 10 games and playoffs happened, reminding our FO who Rick really is as a game day guy. They watched Rick coach us out of the division and the playoffs.
  5. Again, we know the failures of Hahn. But the rebuild is on it's way so no need to fire him yet. There will be misses and there will be hits, but if this team overall is successful then you keep him. If they can't get to that next level, you don't.
  6. Hahn knows he struck out with EE, Mazara, and Gio G. But they were simply holdover and a lottery ticket. We will rid ourselves of them and He'll probably be held more accountable for guys he signs this year.
  7. Joe did a very good job with the Rays and Cubs. The Angels were starting to play well before the season ended. I anticipate they will compete for a playoff spot next year if they stay healthy.
  8. Again, he is a manager. No one will care after the first week of the season with the exception of when he plays in Houston or LA. Ricky being an awful game manager was a much bigger distraction for this team.
  9. He is a manager, so no one will care after the first few weeks. Only other talk about it will be when he plays the Astros the first time, and when we play in Houston/LA.
  10. Over 162 games we would have been 5 back. Which is fine as this season is over.
  11. Hiring Hinch would give the Sox a ton of positive attention. It is a headlining signing and one that elevates us to that next level in most people's minds.
  12. There is a big difference between a mistake and high level sophisticated cheating. AJ Hinch cheated for sure and deserves to be shamed for it. However, that shaming comes to an end this season and then it is time to move on. He should be a strong candidate for our job as he was a top 3 manager in all of baseball when he got fired. Granted, the Astros had a lot of talent, but so do we.
  13. No we don't. No more second chances for anyone. If you do not do everything that the law says, and I do mean everything, you lack integrity. No mistakes from anyone. PERIOD. In all seriousness though, I can understand Hinch being side eyed for the scandal. That is something he brought upon himself. But it is baseball, so I don't see why he can't get a second chance if the players get to keep playing. He didn't do anything that put anyone's life in jeopardy or caused anyone some sort of great loss.
  14. So if the Sox hire Hinch and we win the next two titles, you won't be happy? Cheating is wrong and the Astros got what they deserved, but if Hinch has made ammends, and assures us it won't happen again under his watch, I don't see anything wrong with giving a guy another chance.
  15. If Bauer is really this mad, he wouldn't sign here because of DK. I think if we offer Bauer good money and a chance to win in a world class city, he will come around.
  16. You will probably feel better after a few titles.
  17. Lol okay. The man was spying on other teams practices with cameras.
  18. So the allegations of us sign stealing and JR wanting to finish second were over 100 years ago? As a fan of this team I'm more concerned about an owner self sabotaging the team than I am of sign stealing players not being controlled by a coach.
  19. Bill was a part of many of the biggest cheating scandals for his sport.
  20. The White Sox have one of the all time biggest baseball scandals. Why follow the team? We have also been accused of cheating ourselves. Not to mention, an owner who allegedly wants to finish on second. Why follow this team? If Hinch can get us a title or three, I couldn't care less if he acknowledges his wrong and doesn't do it again.
  21. Which is interesting because a few posters here said the last two weeks of struggles meant nothing. I was very vocal about the struggles down the stretch and knew in my soul that Hahn and Kenny weren't happy.
  22. Another thing I'll say is all the great managers probably want to come here. We are Chicago and have a great roster for a while. Let's not hire Fred Hoiberg or Matt Nagy, let's get the best guy that is available. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for us, as it is rare for a coaching search to take place with a loaded roster on the cusp of something special. Please do not waste it on some chump.
  23. I don't know about Sandy. We NEED a guy that has been there before to be honest. Our talent speaks for itself, so we just need a manager that can relate to our guys and make smart in game decisions.
  24. No it's not. He lost COY when he fell from first and a possible favorite to 7th and an underdog against Oakland.
