I agree.. If Madrigal is viewed as one of our core guys, he shouldn't be riding pine. Mendick has exceeded expectation, but you role with your main guys. Otherwise, Engel should be in RF, McCann at C, and Yasmani at DH as well.

Trading Kopech is a no go for me, but I get why people wouldn't mind doing it. Kopech has a chance to be a top 3 pitcher of the 20's if he stays healthy. I think we need to try and get Bauer and pay him next year as well. The Reds may not want to do it, but we need to try hard to get it done. Bauer, Gio, DK, and Kopech can be a multiple championship caliber playoff rotations tarting next year. Bauer, Gio, and DK, can get it done this year if our offense shows up in the playoffs, especially with our bullpen.

From a logistical standpoint you are right. But our guys winning the division would be huge for their confidence. Accomplishments are very important for young players. We need a winning attitude around here. Our FO is also more likely to spend more money if we do that this year. Sox fans should be thrilled with 8 team playoffs for this season.
