  1. I think the new plan benefits the Sox big time. Kopech and Rodon would be ready in time to make a difference. We are also a team that could sneak into the playoffs with a shortened season.
  2. In a normal year yes. In a year where sports went away and had people watching video game tournaments, more playoff teams and games are better. Also, in baseball 80 games is not enough to separate the non great teams.
  3. True but the AL East gets the Nats, Braves, Phillies, and Mets. The AL West gets the Dodgers and DBacks. So for us the Twins and Tribe are tough but still manageable. The Cards, Brewers, Reds, and Cubs are solid, but they are also on our playing field.
  4. Oh I see. That makes more sense. But it is tough to still have AL vs NL when you are only playing 9 teams, 5 of which are in another league. I guess this would make our schedule much easier than having that other schedule.
  5. I disagree here because they have to keep fans interested as much as possible. I think they should actually have 16 teams make it, especially if the season is only 80 games. More fans would watch and the playoffs could be an extension of the season, giving us more quality baseball.
  6. Are they saying 7 teams in the playoffs per 10 team league? I also think they need to try and play 100 games to make this season worthwhile.
  7. I think it is great for fans too. It will give them a sense of normalcy. I also think they should CGI fans into the stands if you are watching the game on tv.
  8. If teams will be traveling for games, then what is the point of 3 10 team divisions? Why not use 6 5 team divisions and the two divisions can play one another and their own. Those 2 divisions should be balanced to remain competitive. Division 1 Twins Brewers White Sox Reds Royals Division 2 Cardinals Indians Cubs Pirates Tigers
  9. Yeah I'm speaking in terms of innings and games pitched. No way he is hurling a 40 complete game season in more modern eras.
  10. At some point you also have to be realistic. Walsh was putting up 30 complete games a year and it was a different time. He was a great pitcher and maybe even the best here, but numbers alone don't always tell the story.
  11. My team is not necessarily based on talent, but factors that would make for a more likely champion in my opinion. C- AJ (Fisk was better but AJ has IT) 1B- Big Hurt 2B- YoYo SS- Apple Man 3B- Ace LF- Belle CF- Minnie (could have played here easily) RF- Maggs DH- Mr Incredible It hurt leaving Paulie off but Frank and Thome are too lethal and Thome being a lefty is good for balance. Batting order 1. Minnie 2. Yoyo 3. Big Hurt 4. Mr. Incredible 5. Belle 6. Ace 7. Maggs 8. AJ 9. Apple Man
  12. Take this as you will, but I am a Government employee (State) and we were told baseball will be a thing this year. We were also told rent will not be a requirement and mortgages will be postponed for 8 months as needed. We are also close to a deal that would pay Anericans about 2k per month until the US has financially recovered. The bad news is for anyone trying to buy a house or adopt children, gonna be real hard. Stay safe everyone
  13. Yep the players will burn a year of service. It just wouldn't be good optics if they didn't. This is why I am almost certain baseball will be played.
  14. They are doing all of that now, and will offer several different scenarios. They aren't just hoping and praying things will fall into place. They have may schedules and timing ready for baseball beginning every few weeks from mid may to August.
  15. I agree with you. Everybody in each league plays each other as equally as possible. The top 7 or 8 in each league make the playoffs. This is alot but they have to keep fans watching all year to make money.
  16. More fans will watch on TV as they can't watch in person. I also expect MLB to shorten games and increase playoff teams to keep fans watching longer. You may see them adjust the service time clock to let teams bring up studs early to be competitive. This results in a boatload of ad revenue opportunities they wouldn't normally have.
  17. I did not think of that. I don't mind driving to our local Walmart for that scenario. Thank you.
  18. That would be the smart way to go. This season wouldn't count for anything in terms to teams played, when, and where. So just push the future schedules back a year.
  19. Some of those divisions are super tough. I can handle having the best team in baseball and then other teams on par with us. If they expand the playoffs, and they should we would have a shot to make it.
  20. Most groceries stores by me are booked for weeks on end for deliveries.
  21. Social distancing will be a thing until at least August. It is common knowledge that if we ease up on it we may have to start this process over again. It's important that we keep informed about what the scientists and doctors are saying.
  22. I think if things go accordingly to plan this month, Baseball will start June 1st. They are the one league that can't handle a work stoppage. They will fight that off to the death.
