The Braves are winning big now.
-
I actually think Mazara will be solid for us. That doesn't mean to me that we should operate like a rebuilding team if in fact we are trying to contend. If their is a right fielder who can hit lefties solidly, or is better than him, it should be a strong consideration.
-
We'd be pissed had we traded Tim after 2018 for Steele Walker. Point still stands, Mazara has underperformed and has been underwhelming for 4 years. He shouldn't be handed a job based on potential. At this point in his career, he needs to earn it.
-
The trade is questionable because we are in a possible playoff contending year and handed him a job with no competition. If we sign Puig and let the guys battle it out, I'd be fine with that. Competition makes players better as well and if Mazara wins out, he is the man for the job.
-
IF Mazara has high potential in our eyes, it's strange that his previous team settled for a weak return. Moncada was in the same boat at the end of 2018, and we'd all be pissed if we traded him for a Steele Walker. I know teams lose trades, but we are talking top prospect in baseball type players here at the age of 24. This doesn't mean Mazara can't prove to be good, but it is a valid reason for fans to not support the move, especially when he is just handed a job. If this were last year, I'd be okay with him being handed a job. This year is different and we are trying to compete, so no room for 5th year projects being handed jobs.
-
I just don't feel comfortable handing Mazara a spot. Texas isn't dumb, if he was gonna be a good one possibly, they would have asked for more than Steele. That would be like us trading 2018 Moncada for Steele.

Sox Payroll Redux. Why did the Spending Stop ?
SonofaRoache replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in Pale Hose Talk
True. The thing is the good teams are constantly upgrading or making moves to extend windows, even if it fails. We should always be looking to upgrade our roster, as it protects you against injuries or subpar performances. -
I'd be okay with not signing Puig, but not if the reason was a tight wallet.
-
Jerry said he is impatient trying to win, so he needs to act like it and man all the way the heck up. Money should not be an issue right now. Especially for guys on a one year deal who could really help us win games.

Most Memorable Sox Game You've Attended?
SonofaRoache replied to KnightsOnMintSt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Perfect Game after engagement. -
Rodon also tried to use his injury as a reason for starting. He essentially says how can you move q starting pitcher who is hurt, into the more demanding bullpen? Dude is not gonna be happy when he slots into the bullpen as our Josh Hader. Unless of course, if Gio2 and Lopez both bomb.
-
Not always true indeed. But odds are if you crush a baseball consistently you are more likely to achieve success. Just like a pitcher who throws 98 to 100 has a better chance to succeed than one who throw 88 to 90. Every case won't work this way, but odds are odds.
-
If you hit the ball good and hard, odds are defenders in the infield won't react as well to it, and it will shoot to the outfield before they can catch it. Softly hit balls find defenders much more frequently.

This will be the first time since 2006 that I start a spring training in championship mode. Not for this year, but for the team in general. Also, the first time in a decade plus that I am confident about a shot at the playoffs. Time to enjoy cheering for wins and not draft positioning.

Keep them coming. Never feel bad about helping people.

But not a huge blow. A huge blow is not coming back til June or later. -

He will pitch for Cleveland before May. -
I'd be on cloud 9 if we found a way to acquire Joc and another bullpen piece.

The problem with affording gear is an issue in Latin America. For underprivileged youth in our country, the problem is their schools and local rec centers don't pay for, support, or encourage playing baseball and hockey. Also, you can enjoy football and basketball with 2 to 6 people. With baseball, it isn't fun unless you can get at least 12 players together, which is why rec centers and schools are so important.

Thanks, I was unaware.
-
Magical.
-
That would be amazing.

I don't care if we sign him or not. But to say he wouldn't be a fit for us when he would be one of our best FWAR guys is odd. Mazara can be traded or give Joc and Eloy breaks as needed.
-
After using 4 pitchers in a game, the manager pitches the rest of the game.
-
Actually, he and his 3 fWAR would fit great in RF.
