Derrick Rose was a miracle for GarPax anyway. They had a 1.7 percent chance of drafting him. Had the Bulls not been gifted that miracle. they would have drafted DJ Augustin, thus losing 80 percent of their success anyway.

GarPax are the worst FO officials in sports. Their claim to fame came on the miracle of Rose. And even then they couldn't put a true championship caliber team together. Their drafting has been solid, but they've ditched their great picks to start failing rebuilds. They can't acquire stars in a league where you need stars to win. Most teams can put together teams that max out as 4 to 8 seeds, but in the NBA teams try to build champions. I give Hahnny more credit because they won a title and actually try to win badly. The best excuse they have is unlike the Bulls, they don't have great attendance, money to spend, a national following, strong popularity around the league because of Jordan, or being the only team in a large market. Lastly, Hahnny's arrow is pointing up and their rebuilding is looking great. GarPax traded a star who could have recruited other stars to their team to rebuild. This rebuild has been a massive failure and the team has no hope. The fans have no hope. And even worst, they can't draft high enough to get a star, no one wants to play for them, and they have little cash to spend.

Yeah but we got swept by KC of all teams. I think we were closer to the 42-44 team prior to the break. We had injuries curtail development in season and the backend of our rotation was a revolving door of losers. But your point is a good one. Also, we are bringing in 5 new starters and 2 new pitchers early in the season. Add in Kopech to the rotation, Rodon to bullpen, and trade deadline improvements and we are in great shape. The fact that we will have no rally killing automatic outs in our lineup, automatic pitching losses, or an implosive bullpen, gives us a great shot to win 90 games.

Why do people think the Twins are only all in for this season? They have another 2 to 3 years of high level of play and money to spend.

Mazara would have still been available now. But I guess we probably tried to trade for Joc again.

If we win only 83 games next year we didn't get the development we'd hope. This roster has flaws but it should win you at least 88 games with two nosedivers in KC and Detroit, if things go right. Hell, with that fluke stretch after the all star break where we lost 10 straight, no starting pitching to speak of, and nagging injuries, we were about a 77 win team last year.

Tomorrow, we can officially say baseball starts this month and the season starts next month. We survived the rebuild and it seemed to go by quickly, now that it is over.

They can now, but in 4 years if everyone meets expectations, that may not be the case. Kopech and Giolitio may be worth 175m to 200m. Yoan may be worth 275m. Our saving grace is we have a lot of money coming off the books in 4 years anyway. I think we can make it work, but Hahn and Kenny better improve our farm and evaluate middling free agents better.

I agree with you, I was just answering a hypothetical. Now, it is worth discussion when big spending teams like the Cubs and Red Sox are trying to trade franchise players. It is also worth discussing because we have a lot of guys who may command big deals in the next 5 years. Our owner has yet to sign anyone to a 100 million dollar deal, although he tried, so the fans have good reason to think we may be reluctant to pay Yoyo 300m. Lastly, the front office will have to decide whether or not they want to keep Gio and Kopech at that time as well. I think it is imperative we keep Yoyo, Anderson, Eloy, and Robert, but how realistic is it?

To be honest I would give nothing for those 2 years at that price. We'd be creating a hole while filling one. The only consideration would have been Abreu, but the players we currently have would probably be pissed about that. Boston wouldn't want Rodon or Lopez as headliners.

Yea, but they are trading a guy that is not as valuable to them because it is a strength. And it is typically the guy who is older or the guy they value less. The position being traded would also have to align with a positional need for us. Like we wouldn't trade Yoan for SS, 1B, or Catcher with 4 years of control left.

My comment is in reference to if we must trade him. Of course we'd be a good team that wants him, but if we cannot agree to a deal and need to trade him, our options will be good teams that are willing to pay him the arbitration money and a meal deal possibly.

I agree with this except for the part about trading for major leaguers. Yoan will only be coveted by good teams trying to win titles if we were to trade him in 2 years. Or teams, on the brink of going for it. These teams will not trade major league talent unless it is a player they don't want anyway. Case in point, if we wanted Mookie, we aren't trading Tim Anderson or Eloy.

Argument could be made. I sing us because we don't use the good speed we have to our advantage. We have guys with good speed who can't run the bases well or they can't read flyballs right. We also don't steal bases often.

Yo, Robert, Magical, and Manderson have good speed. Eloy has solid speed and Abreu is near positional average. Mazara is also near average running the bases. I'm not sure we should be 7th, but we are top 15.

If we live up to ESPN's expectation I think we win 3 championships. Hell, they have Robert beating out Magical (.364 BA) for MVP in a year where Michael Kopech is the best pitcher in baseball.

He will be on a flexible restriction. Hahn said they are using analytics to determine how much he should pitch. I think he comes up in June to pitch for the rest of the season, unless they believe he is wearing out.

You are correct, but he is a marginal talent thus far, but he did get the benefit of the doubt. We don't have really good balance, we have the best. I actually agree with this as we have power, speed, handedness, youth, veteran, contact, etc. My only concern is that we don't walk much or steal many bases just yet.

Just so you all know, there were 7 categories they used to rank the lineups, and they ranked teams by those categories. I included our MLB rank next to the category. Lineup holes is not a rank, but they are saying once Magical comes up, we have no holes, although Mazara is very marginal. I agree with this, but remember he only played 120 games or so last year. So I think he can still get to 30-35 homers. I'd like to see a .330 ish OBP and 860-890 ish OPS.

Yeah it is very laughable. We will need to hand out big contracts to our own guys so the money won't be there for a Betts deal. I think we will end up trading this year's draft pick and a few others for a RF or will sign Joc.
