  1. Nope, because he will start the second week of June, rendering a cap meaningless. They want the extra year back.
  2. People forget Abreu gets these guys acclimated to the city and team and is like a big brothe. Abreu also recruits for us and they love him. Had we not given Abreu this deal, our players would have been upset and probably would have lost respect for the organization.
  3. I think our plan is to actually platoon Mazara with Engel. They may feel Engel hit lefties decently last year and his defense would make our outfield defense passable when he plays.
  4. It's big news because Hahn didn't have to be so blunt about Mazara. He could have said we believe in him and hope that he can make that positional need go away.
  5. LMAO at firing shots at a guy you just traded for.
  6. Don't forget the Rangers traded Mazara for Walker. They are after Castellanos themselves to replace Mazara's output.
  7. I'd be very surprised if any minor league outfielder is worthy of starting in RF at the ML next season. A few have a shot, but injuries and poor play makes RF a hole for us.
  8. I think Joc is the guy we will pursue. We would just need someone on the bench who can hit lefties.
  9. The problem is that more teams will be prepared to sign Betts next year, whereas Manny was a few team race. Add the 350m he will want and it is unlikely we sign him.
  10. As of now we have to accept Mazara's bad defense and limited bat.
  11. He won't sign a one year deal because a draft pick will be attached next year. He will only take a one year deal of he has no choice. In this case, I'd love to offer him a nice 2 year deal.
  12. I would but they won't. I think we are all in on Mazara. They think they can tap into his potential enough where he could be as good Nick offensively.
  13. Not buying this dude. The only way Castellanos comes here is on a mega two year deal. No way he takes a one year deal and then gets QO. The CBA ends after 2021, so he can hope that goes away and that current FAs would be exempt from previous rule.
  14. Yeah his last year was weird and he probably still has some game left. Either way, he is better than Yolmer for this club as he can relief in the field as well if need be. I doubt he will cost more than 5 million at this point. It is a lot of coin, but would be worth it.
  15. If we want a cheerleader to clean up for Yoyo, Timmy, and Magical, I'd rather bring in Zobrist.
  16. I read that article. If you want to make the claim that Vaughn could be Bellinger, we can agree on that. But when referencing articles it is important to state the facts of the article. We must keep our opinions separated from them.
  17. The best since does not mean they are equal.
  18. Well if you are talented, it could put you over the top against a playoff opponent. Obviously, if you suck, it won't help as much. The irony is that the Astros lost all 4 home games in the world series this year.
  19. On MLB the Show video game it is much easier to hit a fastball or off speed pitch if you know it is coming. It is like night and day. I can only imagine the same applies to real life batting.
  20. The Twins are going to be right there for the division. All hell would have to break lose for that not to happen.
  21. Who cares if we were competing for a player, we are competing against the team. This move doesn't mean the Sox didn't have a better off season either, or have a better future. But it does ensure Minnesota will be right there.
  22. We took a L last night, it is okay to feel salty right now. The Twins made a power move and will contend for at least the next two seasons. If we take care of our own business we will be okay in 2021 and moving forward.
  23. True, but if we are talking about 2020, then 2019 has to have a significant role. Otherwise, we have to downgrade Andserson, Moncada, and Giolito. Robert may be better than Buxton, but Buxton was having a really good year last season before getting hurt. Robert isn't better until he proves first. I expect him to, but as of now he is not.
  24. Sano is a first baseman now, so comparing their hitting, I'd give the edge to him. He was bad at third, but he will probably be better than Abreu at first. Being a team leader and not embarrassing the org helps, but how many wins can we place on that? How many can we take away?
