  1. I'm taking all of my family's presents back to K-Mart. This Christmas is OVAHHHHHH!
  2. Maybe Nick will won't get his dream contract and settles for a larger 1 yr prove it for a full season deal.
  3. 7 games in AAA won't change any of that. Just like Bryant fielding 3 balls didn't improve his defense.
  4. If teams start switching up now in regards to time manipulation, they would look guilty. They may as well just ride it out and be prepared to change it in a few years. The good news is we would have gotten all of our manipulation out of the way. Let the new rebuilders suffer the consequences.
  5. No, Garcia can't play elite defense at the end of games. Leury is okay too, but he can backup the infield. If we need him, Robert, and Engel in the game, we have that option.
  6. He won't platoon, he will play defense at the end of games and run when we need it. He has a very important role on this team.
  7. I don't think they brought Mazara in to be an everyday. I think he is here to play a bench type of role. If he develops into something useful, we keep him. I believe this because Hahn said to watch out for how things play out before judging the Mazara signing. If we sign Nick he starts in RF day one.
  8. Winning is important if the money lines up. Abreu loves it here but he certainly made sure he got paid.
  9. This is why I'm not worried about Yoyo. I've said it all fall, butsigning Abreu would go a long way with building some cred with him. If we offer him a fair deal, I think he stays. It won't be a situation were he bolts on us if salaries are the same.
  10. We have Abreu for 3 years, Grandal for 4 years, and Vaughn will be here shortly. This means Collins will have to earn a big role on this team and he should have to. Even if we sign EE, chances are next season Collins will have a chance to platoon with Abreu at DH and to be backup catcher IF he performs. Also, Robert and Madrigal will go through struggles finding themselves this season, so I do not want our DH being Collins as well. Next year when Madrigal and Robert figure things out, I'd have no problem taking more of a chance on Collins, as we will be okay if he fails.
  11. I think Boras dis this on purpose. He couldn't have Ryu sign first because he and DK probably would have gotten less money. Once he knew for certainly we didn't want Ryu on those terms, he probably pushed for us to sign DK. Ryu being last man standing, now gets a 4th year.
  12. Because that would mean he isn't good or healthy enough to pitch 160 innings in year 3.
  13. DK induces ground balls which plays better in our ballpark. Ryu and Bum would have been good signings for us, but their talents would be diminished in our park. Ryu is a "pitcher", but he doesn't throw the ball all that hard.
  14. I want them to do that. We can cross that bridge in 3 or 4 years. By then, our roster should be elite anyway for another 3 years. You have to imagine your division will have good teams in it at some point. If they trade Lindor and Clevinger, we now would have a shot at 90 wins or more. I am more concerned about the Twins getting a really good starter via the trade route.
  15. By signing Grandal and Keuchel, we are saying our window opens in 2020. In which case, you sign EE and let the cards fall where they may. If Collins hits well this season, he will have an opportunity to be our DH/1B/back up catcher.
  16. I would like this move at this point. I would feel better if we added a bullpen arm and a guy who can platoon with Mazara a little.
  17. I want Nick, but we may be better off with Encarnacion, as he is just a professional hitter and won't mind being a DH. We'd also only have to commit to him for a year on a reasonable deal.
  18. I'm just pulling your chain. I can admit when I'm wrong. I will say that I figured at some point we would engage with Boras because we need to complete this rebuild. I can't give the FO an A for this offseason because after Grandal, we got lower tier talent. But they did a good job of stabilizing this roster to have a chance in 2020 if things go well.
  19. I'll admit I was wrong on this day. But since you want to brag, please provide a list of Boras free agents that we've signed over the years so that we can paint a clearer picture.
  20. In this case, robo umps destroy the feel of the game. The challenging of balls and strikes should literally take ten seconds as a computerized zone will show what really happened. Robot umps would work great, but it takes away from the game. Whereas a few challenges per game can save a team from losing on a terrible call.
  21. I wouldn't do automatic balls and strikes, but I would allow for a challenge of them. You'd get two challenges per game.
  22. "Most of our more knowledgeable fans" No need for this statement here and what he followed it up with is something our fans recognize in general. Not just the more knowledgeable fans.
