  1. I agree completely. I don't think Robert or Madrigal can learn much more in the minors and need the time here now to be ready next season. I'd rather be ready for 2020 while baseball seems to be a little down than to save for 2026.
  2. I think if we want to contend next season, then they need to be up by opening day next year. Two weeks of having guys down can cost you a division, not to mention the experience they'd get this year. If you lose 2020 for contending, then you essentially lost a year anyway.
  3. I am leery about this method because all great teams should have a veteran ace. I am not ready to hand big game keys over to Gio, Kopech, Cease, or Lopez.
  4. I'd be okay with Strasburg and another solid guy like Bum or Hammels on a short deal. That's good enough to be a playoff rotation.
  5. You have to try for the division next year. You cannot throw away a possible 90 win season with some upgrades. If we don't sign a big fish we need to be slapped first and foremost. Then we need to sign a few guys to 1 or two year prove it deals to stabilize our rotation. If we strike out I wouldn't mind Hammels on a short deal.
  6. I was debating going Thursday or Wednesday game two. They love Moncada and Eloy so I want to take them to a game they will play in. My apologies for not making that clear.
  7. You waited until we drafted Burger to figure this out?
  8. The irony is, if you punt 2020 then you are giving up a contending season anyway. I'd see if we can tack on an extra year or two to him and Magical in exchange for coming up earlier if they continue to produce. Magical is gonna be who he is since he is a professional hitter. I don't see him getting better staying in the minors. I also do not see him developing more power in the minors over the next three months.
  9. Not sure why he is talking about daily position changes though, Moncada would have been parked at second just like he would have been if the FO brought in Manny.
  10. Since we have a day night double header Wednesday, should we expect a normal lineup for Thursday's day game? I'm debating if I should take the young children to the park.
  11. Your point is valid, but today it wasn't. If Collins DHs, he could have still watched McCallstar. Nothing to be upset about, but it was dumb having Rendon DH over him AND letting .026 hitting Palka pinch hit.
  12. Methinks he was being sarcastic.
  13. Look at the other top lineups in baseball. These offenses are loaded and we are simply catching up. We can pass teams by spending on pitching and bench players.
  14. I think Moncada is going to be special and is ascending for sure, but I wouldn't take him right now over perennial all star and MVP caliber players. I need to see him stay healthy and play this well for a full season.
  15. No point in him going to third. We still needed a single to score him at second d or third. The outfielder was shallow making it an easier play. The young pitcher may be rattled having two men on so let him pitch out of it.
  16. Would have been smart to say he may start wedbesday or Thursday to sell tickets.
  17. That's true about Moncada not moving around. Their plan was for him to play second if they got Machado, so this is why I wouldn't be concerned about. I don't want our guys to be Jack's of all trades, and certainly not Moncada, but he'd be fine at second. However, we do need a thay kind of guy just in case. I wouldn't mind trading Madrigal if you replace him with an elite talent like Rendon. Madrigal has unknown value because no one knows if he will develop any type of MLB power. I mentioned him as trade bait because had we signed Machado, where would we have played Madrigal anyway? Our FO has probably thought about a scenario where they would have to trade him.
  18. I wouldn't call it nuts. There is no reason why Moncada couldn't move back to second and be elite overall as a second baseman. Teams are moving guys all around the diamond these days. Baez plays third, short, and second on a whim. Kris Bryant moves to left field. I am of the belief busts are gonna bust regardless. Moving a guy to 2nd where you had him playing before should not result in the player producing negative results.
  19. I meant acquire as in sign through Free agency or trade. If we sign a guy like Rendon then we theoretically could start with a package around Madrigal and Collins.
  20. I juries hurt our rebuild depth but so does busts like Carson in the top 10.
  21. Well, you see, we want him to strike out now and learn the game so that he can be useful next season.
  22. He is probably gonna get 7 or 8 million.
