  1. He is an agent, they are usually lawyers and shady guys. I honestly wouldn't trust them if i had them, but would appreciate their efforts in getting me paid.
  2. Not really. People can make jokes dude. We've made plenty of them this thread and in others. Hell, the title of this thread adds a little comedic flavor instead of just saying "The Manny Machado Thread". If posters aren't attacking other posters and things are light hearted who cares? We are all Sox fans cheering for the same objectives. Lastly, this place is so serious that 10 people repped my joke about you already.
  3. It was a joke. Anyway, you are one of my favorite posters here, but you do need to understand not every comment here has to be serious. People are also entitled to their own opinions and can vent about the team as they see fit. Enjoy your Saturday!
  4. Very good point. This is why fans have a hard time believing guys who hit home runs could have negative overall value. Nowadays every aspect of a player is taken into account to judge overall value. I'd rate Engel a little higher than most defensively, but his arm isn't the best.
  5. I was court level one game and I almost thought Boozer was Shaq the way he was talking shit.
  6. Yet, you have 9,000 more posts than I do, but I have nearly 30 more rep points. ? Edit: It is 30 now.
  7. You hear Machado has signed, you check here first. If this site is actually working, he has not signed yet.
  8. My thoughts 1. We didn't bring in Jay and Yonder if we weren't going all in on Machado. 2. We dont want to pay Machado 300 million but will if we have to. We had to know his price could reach at least 300 million. 3. If we give him a 300 million deal, there will be team friendly opt outs and incentives for sure. 4. San Diego is the only team West of Chicago in the running, this tells me he doesn't like it out there. 5. Yonder and Jay are two of his closest friends, they know already where he is leaning and where his head is at. Hell, Machados wife knows what he wants and she would have told her brother. Yonder seems a bit confident. 6. Hahn and KW do not want to let their fan base down. This moment and this point in the rebuild is critical to turning around their fan base. This could be the opening to gaining average crowds of 30k to 35k over the next decade. They won't blow this over 50 million spread out about 8 or 9 years. 7. Hahn and KW know who the threats are and what their outlooks are. We all heard the stupid money comment, so they are prepared for stupid money to be thrown around. 8. This will end in March like Hahn hinted at. No reason for Machado to sign earlier than that if he is 75 million below his asking price. He doesn't care about spring training or making the public at ease.
  9. I think the fans are as excited as they've ever been. We know we have 7 years of good times coming. I think starting next year we will get to 30k and average 30k to 35k over the next 5 years after. The Sox just have to keep fans engaged and do their part. They also need to build that community up some to give fans a reason to be at the park longer on game days. They've started doing it, but more needs to be done.
  10. What were the averages after they won the World Series? Notice how in 2007, a shitty year, they averaged 33k? Sustained winning outlook will draw fans. The 90s would have but the strike hurt them.
  11. So if a player signs with the Sox, do they only get to enjoy the Southside and south suburbs? Do they not get to hang out downtown, River West, or up north? Do they not get the marketing opportunities Chicago offers? Do they not get that world class city feel? Can they not go to North Avenue Beach and enjoy the sun and women? Will they not get covered by the Tribune and Sun Times? Will they not get talked about on 670 or ESPN 1000? Lastly, do these players interact with every fan in the market? Or is it just the 35k fans at the game and the individuals they meet in public?
  12. The Bulls also fail at trading for stars too. Why did the Knicks get Melo, Amare? Boston got KG, Allen, Kyrie, Hayward. The Raptors got Leonard The Pistons got Blake
  13. Sounds like another team JR owns. Always finishing second is a bit strange.
  14. They haven't signed anywhere yet, so that means they have no desire to play baseball.
  15. Being a safety net is a great thing when there is no competition. If a 10 out of 10 woman with a great job is dating you, and no one else wants her because they can't keep up, you win. And you will not feel bad about it either.
  16. Cheating 666 is not the answer. We must embrace it, we must defeat.
  17. Both players want early opt outs. They would both opt out to get higher salaries.
  18. It was the complete opposite back in December. The Manny Thread was a dead end.
