  1. This means nothing to me. He has one for Harper as well.
  2. If you don't stop saying this we are all going to leave.
  3. If we signed Harper and Machado this team contends for the division with another starter added. Harper, Machado, Moncada, Abreu, Eloy, and Alonso are good enough to win at least 85 with average pitching.
  4. Remember fellas, the Sox aren't stupid. They know what their odds truly are of signing these guys. We as fans aren't in the loop but teams have thousands of backchannels to get info. Hell, Jay and Alonso probably have given the Sox Intel on their chances since they know Machado well. Using teams as leverage happens, but that doesn't mean the player won't sign. For instance, if Manny is using us for leverage and the Yankees have a final offer significantly lower than ours, Manny may still sign here. I truly do not believe we signed Jay and brought in Alonso for nothing. We have a chance. If he was so hell bent on being a Yankee, and the Yankees really wanted him, the deal would be done already.
  5. Jay will cost us 4 million while taking at bats from Engel and Delmonico for one year. Not really that big of a deal. I also remember you didn't like the idea of trading for Manny to ensure he would have comfort with us to re-sign. Had we traded Giolito for him, and signed yonder and Jay, this would be a closed case. At this point, I'd still trade Giolito for him for a shot at a re-sign.
  6. When thinking about this whole situation, I'm starting to think that a JR ran team finally gets it. Teams acquiring star players either pay up, are all time great organizations, are in a great destination with good fans, or kids the players asked. We are in kiss the player asses mode. If I were in Machado's shoes and a job offer was made to me to love in Chicago, NYC, LA, Austin, San Diego, or Detroit. I would be more likely to pick Detroit if the offer paid significantly more money. If my good friends were moving to Detroit near me as well, that would probably seal the deal. Having friends there would make me so much more comfortable and the experience a lot more enjoyable than if I were by myself. The Sox are Detroit in this race, so money is a good selling point, but having Machado's friends here does mean a lot. This is a once in a generation opportunity for us to sign a star with 4 to 6 wins. You do what it takes. Good job finally, White Sox.
  7. Maybe he can stick his head back up his ass to get another scoop from his source.
  8. What conversation could those two have? Rick: You still mad bro? Sale: Yep Rick: Come back bro. Sale: I'll make more money in Boston, win more titles, and get much more publicity and fame. Hell would freeze before I come back. Rick: So there is a chance!
  9. I wanted Harper at 10 and 400. If we can get Manny for 275, try to get Harper as well.
  10. The difference is NBA teams can't overpay. They all can offer the same amount. Brand won't mean much to Boras if we pay up.
  11. Many Sox fans want Kenny and Hahn out of town already, as they have proven to be incompetent. Jerry has proven he can't get the big fish with the Bulls and Sox. Plan B will have to be gaining trust and respect from fans, who will compare things to GarPac.
  12. True, but he was the number 1 rated prospect in baseball, so my expectations for him are high, and I expect a big year from him next year. If he doesn't perform next year to that level, we are in trouble.
  13. Kopech and Burger injuries are not according to plan. Giolito and Fullmer being gas cans isn't according to plan, after their promising play to end the season before. Moncada still struggling at the plate this far in is not according to plan.
  14. It's not off the rails but it hasn't gone according to plan.
  15. I agree, but I also wouldn't disqualify players talent because they played on a bad team. Bringing in his friends should be in addition to signing him. To help ease his transition.
  16. Bad teams have good players too. They are bad because they don't have as many as the good teams.
  17. That ain't no Sox fan. If he were a fan, he would have had him try the Sox hat on lol
  18. That hasn't produced at the MLB level yet. Moncada, Gio, Fulmer, and sadly Kopech have clouds over them right now.
  19. Interesting how before the Harper threads had 100 posts an hour and Machado's thread fell off the first page. Now it is in reverse.
