This is why the Sox need to spend that bread. They need to get out of irrelevance and start getting big names to come here in their primes. We will never be the Yankees, Red Sox, Angels, or Cubs, but we can get some of that pie.
This is the same thing we see with the Bulls. Lebron said the meeting was the best, Wade said he almost signed, yada yada yada. Get the job done once and open the floodgates. It may just be the Sox and Bulls can't relate to young athletes.
NY weather in the winter is better than ours. Their cold days are 40's for the most part, and they don't have nearly as much wind and bitterness. They get blasted by snow too, but it's just better weather. I'm not sure about Philly.
Especially after saying they want to earn our trust again. That's why I'm not buying it. If we offered a lowball contract he would have signed with the Dodgers already. I think we offered 375 million and the Dodgers are trying to top that. Just my guess, but I think it may go down like this.
If Olney is right, then the Sox are just dicking around to appear to be trying real hard. We are in on everyone, but haven't brought in anyone of big note.
How so? I expect this FO to make it happen. If they can't, they can leave. Look at the Bulls and all of their second and third place finishes in free agency. There is no award for trying.
One thing I'd like to add is the Dodgers have done very well lately, but between them and the Sox, the Sox have the trophy. Our Org has won a championship, even if it was a fluke, the Dodgers haven't won since 88.
