We aren't hitting McCullers anywhere. But I do think Rodon can shut Houston down at home to give us a chance. If we so win, I'm not confident in any pitcher at Houston.
No reason to bail on Eloy. But at the same time these guys are gonna be defined by the playoffs now. We aren't a rebuilding up and coming team anymore. If we turn into the Twins and can't win playoff series or games, none of this will matter much at the end.
How many XBH's and home runs? This is the playoffs and those things matter. Over the course of a season our guys get their numbers. But this isn't the course of a season. We need power ASAP.
No it wasn't. People mistakenly talked themselves into thinking the team from the second half was gonna just morph into a post season threat. The writing was on the wall.
Many of us said we should have fought for that 2 seed. Of course this is what happens when you punt HFA and take the last month and a half off to over rest. But that rest sure is helping.
That's not how this works. They are ready to go, McCullers is a great pitcher and Houston owns Lynn. He should have never started this game even with Rodon only playing once. It should have been Giolito and Rodon based on recent events.
I think this covers us if Rodon can't go. Lynn would get game 1 and 4 if Rodon can't pitch. If Rodon is limited I think Lynn starts game 4 and Rodon comes in after in relief. Either way I think Gio gets game 5.
Those two are playing better than Lynn and Gio right now. Gonna be tough, but we just have to grind. It is the playoffs where almost every pitcher will be tough.
The pressure is on everyone. If we win one in Houston, the pressure is then on us to sweep at home or face a daunting game 5 on the road, where we are not as good.
This is the way. Cesar can get hot and give you a bomb out of the 9 spot. He is fine as a 9 hitter for me. Leury needs to be that super sub bench bat every playoff team has.
No time for it. The playoffs are here and if you can't hit you can't play. Vaughn will have a whole offseason to work on things and he will have a chance for next year. He will also get at bats in the post season against lefties at DH.
Andrew Vaughn is unplayable right now full time. His playoff role should be DH against lefties and pinch hitter against lefties. Engel gets RF because is bat is decent now and he has elite defense with good speed. Sheets should get the DH spot versus righties.
