Yeah but last year we had EE and Mazara starting everyday. We also had an injury to Madrigal and Timmy. Eloy went down a few times and Robert had a major slump. We didn't have a third starter. Injuries hurt but this team is still positioned as is to have better success than last season.
Just because we have the best starting pitching doesn't mean we are the better team over 7 games WITHOUT Eloy and Robert and with this bullpen playing poorly. The Mets have fantastic pitching and so does Cleveland. How many titles have they won? The Dodgers had great pitching and just finally broke through with Mookie. The As and Rays had great pitching and couldn't get it done. If our bullpen is playing up to its cability then I'd agree pitching can carry us. But until they get lights out, we are behind those teams.
It sure isn't. At this stage we are not better in a playoff series than the teams I listed. If our bullpen learns how to hold leads, then things would be different. At this juncture without Eloy and Robert, we don't have the horses in a 7 game series. We can get there once our young guys figure a few things out and the bullpen gets back to being great.
We are a good team for sure. But no as good as the Yankees, Boston, Astros, and Rays just yet. We have more potential, but we are not there yet. Especially if the bullpen continues to be a concern.
I'm in Vegas with the Mrs and the games start Saturday and Sunday at like 10am. I've seen at least 70 Sox fans today and we just show love to one another in passing.
Bullpen is still a little shaky in comparison to expectations. Lower speed sinker sunk him against the one guy hitting for them. This game feels to familiar.
