Justin Fields. Until he gets Johnny Knoxed in the end zone scoring on a 99 yard run. -

I don't think either career will be threatened. Robert is still young and has a world class team watching him. -

Exactly. We had reason to believe one of those two would get hurt for some time. Injuries happen and sadly our guys are prone to them. I've said it before, that this team needed everything to go right health wise to win it all. It couldn't sustain any type of bad injury luck. -

The problem is outfielders like Robert get hurt. His comp is Griffey and we know that story. His division rival Buxton is always hurt. -

No it is not. Championship teams don't mail it in. Jerry will have to open the wallet for a rental to avoid over spending on prospects. -

The entire training and medical staff needs to be fired at this point. -

Well Hahn will need to use the injury excuse as well for himself. So TLR will be safe if this season ends up in a diaper. -

They told us yesterday essentially we'd get an update today. This was before the MRI. -

Long term the Twins and less realistically the Indians can move ahead of us if this bullpen doesn't get sorted out. The Twins have the offense to go on a big run and the Indians pitching is good enough to keep them around. I'm not saying the Sox won't be in the mix, especially with the Twins early struggles, but we can't call ourselves a favorite until this bullpen is straightened out with Robert now being out. -

You are right the Sox haven't played well yet. But the schedule also gets more difficult and the matchups less favorable. So if we play better we still may end up treading water because of the schedule. To become a division favorite again with the injuries this bullpen needs to be lights out without question. -

We need Tim, Eaton, Moncada, Abreu, Grandal, Vaughn, and Madrigal to play to their potential. If they do, the other two guys can just tread water. My post also was about pitching. We need the bullpen to hold leads and for the manager to do his job better. -

In this case maybe sometime in July. LaRussa said it won't be an Eloy rehab so hopefully he is right. Because that would be an Eloy rehab. -

If the news were good we would know by now. Assume the worst. Many say we are still a playoff team without Robert but I don't see it at this point. Guys are gonna have to step up quick. No more slow starts it is time to ball. -
Addressing the OF shortage (Robert Injury Spinoff)
SonofaRoache replied to Texsox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
In theory. But if you want to win a world series this year then you can either spend more money or give up better and more prospects. This team cannot susrain itself over this next stretch if Robert misses a month or more. It would be different if our hitters were hitting and the bullpen was pitching well. -

I disagree for a bad contract solid player. Teams would want to unload the salary and take back less in prospect capital. -

We can get a solid player for cheap prospect capital if we are willing to spend money. At this point we need to spend some money to protect our rebuild investment. -

I have a bad feeling that Robert, Eloy, Moncada, and to a lesser extent Tim will constantly have these types of injuries. -

TLR has made his share of mistakes that hurt the team, but he isn't a top 3 reason for the limited success. 1. Abreu, Moncada, and Grandal aren't hitting. 2. The top 3 bullpen has been shaky for the most part. 3. Outfield power outage. 4. Giolito not being his elite self getting through innings. 5. The defense and mental errors on the bases. 6. TLR -

Correct. TLR said that we have the depth to withstand the loss of Robert for the time being. We good. -

Exactly. People are using our start and the stats and saying we are good. We are about to play some offenses that are either hot or can get hot quick. This will take place all the way through the 26th of the month. Have to play well just to stay afloat during this stretch. -

Well our full lineup when healthy is perfectly fine. But Engel and Garcia are our lead backups. No power there. Then you have Collins and Mendick and Lamb. More nothing burgers right now in terms of power or skill. We really needed to be lucky and avoid injuries. -

Right. Anyone that has watched a full season of baseball knows that world series contenders have depth. Sure you can't replace an all star with another one on the bench, but the other contenders aren't coming with the stuff we have and certainly would have made a move. -
