Nope. We didn't want any guys like him. "WE" wanted Bauer, Yu, Woodruff, Snell, Musgrove, Paxton, Tanaka, Kluber, Burnes, Marquez, Q, Richards, and then even Wainwright.
Good point about not sending runners. Not sending runners also counts as runs saved, but can't be quantified. I am hoping that Eaton gets his health and mind right and goes all out to be a 3 win guy next year. He has the potential for sure.
And that good sir is the point. The Bulls are in a large market, has world wide recognition because of Jordan, and they should have a top 5 payroll and go into the tax occasionally. The Knicks, Nets, and Lakers I can understand out spending us. Maybe even the Clippers and Houston. But no one else in the NBA should outspend the Bulls.
In 2010 the Bulls had a bottom tier payroll if I recall correctly. In 2011 they were middle of the pack. The Bulls should always be at the top in payroll. I pointed out 2010 and 2011 because that was the year they chased LeBron. The Bulls always seem to fall short of the superstar. Odd, really.
Lebron and company did not want to come here because of JR's rep of being a penny pincher and not taking care of Jordan, Pippen, and Phil, guys he didn't want to pay. The bulls trade draft picks for cash and trade for guys just to cut.
I hear what you are saying, but dude is cheap relative to what he has. The Bulls are always atop the league in attendance and are revenue beasts, yet the Bulls don't sign the top guys and will never pay the luxury tax. The White Sox have a two year window of splurging on one year deals before their own get expensive. This market and this year was the time to take a few gambles on guys like Cruz and Q. Load the team up and try to steal a quick title. If Cruz and Q flop you go to your young guys. I appreciate the team these guys have put together, but man it would have been nice to spend a few extra to really take off.
The Sox are typically 4th or 5th in odds to win the world series and 2nd to win the AL. Teams coming out of rebuilds have that first year of barely making the playoffs or missing it, and then boom, title contention. Year 1 was last year, now we are in championship mode.
I'll play...

Adding Lance Lynn / Losing Dunning and Weems A, this was a great trade to add a TOR arm we desperately needed.
Liam Hendricks A + Great signing, but busted the budget.
Backup Catcher - TBD / Zach Collins = D He is a failed prospect at this point. Still has potential but it is what it is.
