  1. Yolmar Sanchez is our utility infielder. He stays until Moncada comes up. Jacob May needs to be sent down as soon as possible. Today would not be soon enough. The Sox need to bring up Delmonico or Hayes as a LH bat. That was a frustrating game to watch.
  2. Avi could be traded but that seems unlikely since he is only adding to his upside potential. Jacob May could be the first one to be sent down, then Asche. Moncada will be here in May and perhaps Tillerson will be here by June, but that seems to be an unknown at this point.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 03:28 PM) They're probably going to be forced to replace May first...pretty clear he's not ready and getting thrown to the wolves. May looks over-matched and is likely on a relatively short leash. IMO, Leury Garcia should start in CF until Tilson comes up or the Sox come up with another solution in Center. I know May hasn't had too many chances, but, IMO, he looks like he doesn't have a clue at the plate. Maybe another week of two and maybe he will prove us wrong.
  4. I would like to have seen Jacob May take a pitch after two guys walked. Instead he weakly grounds out on the first pitch. I think Leury Garcia has to start in Center. I'm not sure May is ready for major league pitching. Perhaps Matt Davidson would have given the Sox a better shot in that situation or a Delmonico, if he was on the roster. May had no chance.
  5. Perhaps a counter thread for those who wish to express their delight over the Sox losing. You will never know if those who on that side of things truly expect the Sox to be the worst of 30 teams in hopes of getting Beer ,,,or if they are just plain Cub fans. That's kind of the way it is anyway.
  6. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 04:29 AM) You are quickly becoming the new Greg... Wut lol.
  7. Went to the Opener and the ReOpener. Really disappointed in the game and in the Detroit fans who decided to come on our Opening Day. After all, they only have 80 Home games and another 15 or so more with the Sox at the Rate they can go to so who knows why those POS had to come to our Opening Day. My own thoughts: Tim Anderson should have made that play in the second inning on the one hopper. He took his eye off of it. That would have helped to stop the momentum and would have shortened the inning for Q. That is not to deny that Q got hit hard today. Don't know what to make of that. Jacob May's first game looked like Jacob May's first game. Not sure why the Sox let Bourjos go. May looked like an easy out for Verlander and K-Rod. Asche looked over matched at the plate. I would like to have had more LH power in the line-up today, perhaps Delmonico. Saladino is the man. he stays in the line-up even if Moncada comes up. Best food/beer combo was 35th St Tacos barbacoa tacos washed down with Landshark beer with lime and salted rim.
  8. I wonder if he could do play by play. If so move, give Benetti his walking papers. Let Steve Stone do the pre and post game analysis. Perhaps a tandem of Scotty Pods play-by-play with a color commentator like Geoff Blum or AJ.
  9. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 10:23 AM) Hold off another hour and they will pay you $6 to show up. LOL. Upper tank corner seats are always available. Lower level seats for the Opener have been sold out for some time.
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 2, 2017 -> 12:27 PM) Postponed means the game will be made up. Cancelled means it won't. Don't ask if the game is cancelled, because it won't be. Who said the if the game is rained out that it would not be made up ?
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 2, 2017 -> 09:38 AM) 90% chance of rain now. Tickets are down to $6 on stubhub. That is for nose bleed seats in the corners of the upper deck. IMO, those sections should probably should be replaced with a restaurant or bar for upper deck ticket holders. I hope they call the game soon. I need to know to make plans for tomorrow. One problem is that Tuesday's forecast might not be much better as we get closer to it.
  12. I don't expect him to try and lose. I expect him to get the most out of his players to increase the older guys' value to trade for prospects. That's how we keep the win total down. I for one hope that the Sox will not intentionally keep the win total down. That strategy worked for the Cubs, but if several teams start to intentionally tank seasons just to vie for a high Draft pick, it would diminish competitiveness across the league and hurt major league baseball. It's also kind of kind of a pimpy/wimpy strategy that cheats fans of the teams that might choose to go down that road.
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 1, 2017 -> 08:27 AM) I don't want to tell a manager to try and lose. That's horrible for player development to tell the guys not to try too hard. Renteria wants to win every game he can no matter what plan that the team might have. IMy own opinion is that he is a far better Manager than Ventura was. There is a little Earl Weaver in him while Ventura was always asleep at the wheel.
  14. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Mar 31, 2017 -> 08:44 PM) If this team wins more than 70 games, management is doing this incorrectly. Never forget, Renteria, who was used by the cubs for that purpose and then unceremoniously discarded, is not going to let it happen again, at least not if he has any say about it. The Sox will try to win every game they can, and they very well might improve the roster through trades and promotions from the farm system during the season. Not sure if they will be a .500 team but I wouldn't bet against that, at least not yet. Let's wait for a few months to see how things develop.
  15. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 31, 2017 -> 07:21 AM) Agreed. But just as I mentioned above, Asche is basically a lock for the team. Yes, but against a RH starter, I would have Asche in RF and a LH DH, like Delmonico (instead of Davidson)
  16. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Mar 30, 2017 -> 04:52 PM) How is it a mistake? If he sucks, they DFA him and bring up Delmonico, or whoever else deserves. I agree that it isn't a big deal but IMO, it is probably a waste of time and money. What bothers me is that they need a LH bat to DH and Davidson takes up that last roster spot.
  17. I think taking Davidson was a mistake, but time will tell. I'll be happy to admit I am wrong if he starts raking againsy RH pitchers and cuts down on his strike-outs. Meanwhile, we could have used Delmonico's LH bat at DH. Asche in RF and Demonico at DH (and eventually Moncada at 2nd Base) would add to other LH hitters in the line-up, (Melky, May, Narvaez) - six guys who can hit LH and at least a few of them with power.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 29, 2017 -> 11:06 PM) Davidson made the team. Link?
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 29, 2017 -> 11:06 PM) Delmonico will make his way up sometime, but not now. Davidson made the team. I know, and I understand why. . I just don't see how Davidson will be that useful as long as the Sox have Frazier at third base. We really need a LH bat with power at DH. Perhaps Davidson will hit RH pitching and be effective as a DH. Otherwise, he is not going to be getting much playing time and might be the first guy who is sent down or released. I hope I am wrong about that player, who appears to be a nice person who has paid his dues to get on the major league roster .
  20. 1. Anderson SS 2. Saladino 2B 3. Abreu 1B 4. Cabrera LF 5. Frazier 3B 6. A.Asche /Avi Garcia RF platoon 7. DH Delmonico/ Garcia DH platoon 8. Narvaez/ Soto platoon 9.Jacob May CF Bench: Yolmar Sanchez Leury Garcia Delmonico ---------------------------- Delmonico would be useful as a LH DH and pinch hitter. The Sox have a couple of guys who can play third base to back-up Frazier- Saladino, Yolmar Sanchez, Leury Garcia, so they don't need another 3rd baseman. I'd like to see Ashe and Delmonico in the line-up vs. RH pitching, and eventually Moncada.
  21. I laugh at the UGLY Cubs shirts and hats and look with disdain at anyone wearing them anywhere South of Madison Street. This is like politics, you are either for Trump or against him. There is no in between ground and no talking to anyone about ever changing their allegiance. I'm a Sox fan and that will never change. I dislike the Cubs ( an understatement) and that will never change either.
  22. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 26, 2017 -> 09:21 PM) I don't take anything out of spring training good or bad. If they wanted to give Davidson a shot this year, nothing that happened during spring should affect those plans. In reality, Spring Training is a factor for management in making the final roster selections. Davidson has not done much to hurt his stock. Whether it is right or wrong, the problem some have with Davidson is that he had some very down years in the minors when he was hitting around .200. That made people give up on him or believe that he had a relatively low ceiling. It was disappointing to see after all the hype when he was traded to the Sox. Many of us had him penciled in as our starting third basemen for the next 5-6 years and it just didn't work out.
  23. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 26, 2017 -> 02:00 PM) It's all about options though. Davidson, Leury, Sanchez, Ynoa will all be on the team because they don't have any options. I think Asche and Bourjos make it as well. Delmonico, Hayes, and May can all be optioned and probably will be. It's just a numbers game. I agree Jimmy except on Davidson. I think it might be the end of the road for him. He is lucky that Delmonico has kicked a few balls over at third base in ST games or I think he gawn for sure and the Sox take Delmonico instead, a LH bat who might have more use as a platoon player.
  24. . I also know for a fact that most of the White Sox investors (who are elderly) want the team to be sold ASAP. Source? Link?
